    I think this is the kind of discussion they had when the first digital camera was released. "oh no, where is the passion? That is not photography! Where are the quimics and the black room? No way!" and then eventually digital cameras became more and more familiar. I believe these "telescopes" are the future. Are they the present of astrophotography? No. They are way too far from being that good. But they will be.

    Hi Ian, thanks for the informative and comprehensive video. I find myself in a particular situation. I am a photographer who is passionate about astro photography and I have always taken photos with the equipment I have. Currently I'm looking for something that allows me to do sky observation and deepsky astro photography. The longest lens I have and use is a 70-200 with an APSC body. I'm using the Sky Watcher Star Adventurer 2 as a mount. I would like to upgrade the lens. I'm looking for something that can be used to take even more "distant" photos but at the same time that can also be used for just viewing and that's it. What do you recommend? Thanks again

    I can say the samething to those people that are gate keeping. It goes both ways. I can say that it's stupid for people to be outside for 5+ hours when it's freezing cold out or hot when you get eaten alive by mosquitoes. In all seriousness though not everyone can be outside or drive to certain locations. Not everyone has the money to put out for $1000+ worth of equipment. Or have the ability to learn to use the stuff. My husband and myself are learning disabled. Seeing this kind of negativity is in a way discrimination towards us. I been seeing these arguements from the gatekeepers all over now. It's why I am even scared to try and go to one of the local clubs because of this shit.

    Thanks, very interesting. I only do solar where 1 min can yield over 6,000 frames to stack. In deep space scenarios, if one takes 10 frames at 1 minute exposure each - what happens if you then copy those 10 frames multiple times to the equivalent of your 10 hours - then stack?

    You don’t know the free App AstroSahder on IPhone. So you can do long exposure with the app and It dose stack all the images by it self and no startrailing. I also capture the Milky Way galaxy from a City. I do the settings 10sec exposure and 42 pictures = 7 min total exposure. And got a amazing image with my IPhone 13

    • @DatboiDemonX
      @DatboiDemonX 2 дня назад

      It's just night mode in the default iPhone camera, though it's capped at 30s max when you set it to 10s max. Then just let it stabilize on a tripod or placing it face down on an edge of something so the back cameras face straight up into the sky, but leaving the bottom of your camera visible at the edge so you can hit the shutter.

    • @Adi-ed5ly

    The Sony IMX903 in the iPhone 16 pro is just under half the size of a Micro Four Thirds sensor, and a little over a quarter the size of the Fuji APS-C sensor. The bit of paper for "iPhone 16" shown at 7:25 should be about half the size. Flat earthers imagine that the same constellations are visible all year round. Has anyone taken a time-lapse video of the night sky so that only one picture is taken at midnight for the whole year. This would result in a 365-image video of the Earth's journey around the Sun. If such a video does not yet exist, what kind of equipment would you recommend for making it? I don't think you need to see the Milky Way here, it's enough to recognize the big constellations. The biggest problem is power consumption and the camera must be weatherproof.
