7 Days Solo Travelling Slovenia 🇸🇮 (2024) | Maribor, Lake Bled, Ljubljana
A vlog from my seven days solo travelling Slovenia in June 2024. I arrive on the bus in Maribor after a long trip from Zadar, Croatia. I spend a night in Maribor and explore the city, watching the sunset from a hill above the city. The next day, I catch the train to Lake Bled, where I spend the next three nights in my tent. I spend a day exploring Vintgar Gorge and swimming in the lake and the next day, I walk up the hill behind the campsite to the viewpoint. From Bled, I catch the train to the capital city, Ljubljana, where I spend two nights. I post my drone out, since I'm not allowed to take it to my next country. My final morning, I have an early start and take the bus to the airport....

    Why the protective gear at Vintgar Gorge? One word: Americans (from USA). They bang their heads on the rocks, they drown in the stream, they break their arms when making selfies, etc... Sorry about the 10 EUR fee, but it's not our fault. We just don't like to get sued by crazy tourists.

    Hi, great video! Just wanted to comment on wearing helmets in Vintgar gorge. In the past there were some serious accidents where visitors ended up in the hospital, because of falls and falling rocks. I assume, for preventative measures, they decided to enforce wearing helmets.

      You were off season too, but try visiting the National Parks in August! We visited several a few years ago and although beautiful they were ruined by the number of visitors. No helmets then and I can't possibly see why they would ever be necessary. Just covering themselves I guess, and attempting to justify the entrance fee? In NZ, apart from a few honeypots (e.g. Tongariro Crossing) it is so easy to escape the hoards. We're incredibly lucky in that respect. Isolation and a small population has its advantages!

      That's awesome you're trying to learn English 😂 Every published atlas, Google Maps and Apple Maps list the capital of Croatia as Zagreb. @@onthetrailnz Zagreb yes, but not Zagreeb. You pronounced this ee like i in Madrid. Balkan is a Turkish name for the mountain in Bulgaria. Some German idiot decided to call the whole region that name in the 19th century. Both Turks and Germans are just the occupiers in the region. Whoever uses the name Balkan for the region and the people od the region is doing it in a derrogatory manner. Shame on you ignorant.

      Congratulations on being arrogant enough to be the first comment that RUclips has held for review and flagged as inappropriate!! As far as the pronunciation of Zagreb goes, here is a place name from my home country: Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu It would be great if you wanted to send through an audio recording of you saying that so I can critique. Or you could try Te Kuiti if you want an easier one. Thanks for sharing your view on being called Balkan and I'm sorry if you found it derogatory. I know quite a few people from the Balkans who proudly call themselves Balkan people. I'm lucky to have met them - it's good to know that there are good people in the region as well.

    Great to see grape vines all over the place around Split Jared! That is the origin of the NZ wine industry right there. The original "Dalmatian" migrants - the gumdiggers - came from the area around Split and brought their love of wine with them. I wonder if there is any memory of that migration in Split? Our wines used to be submitted to wine judging in Ljubljana.

      Hi, sorry for the late reply - I’m in Iceland right now!! I bought the youth one month bus pass for the Nordland region (about €30 for the month for under 25s). I’m not sure about the value of the other passes but the youth pass was definitely worth it for me. You can see the prices and buy them (and single tickets) in the Reis Nordland app, which covers the whole Nordland region (all of Lofoten and quite a bit more). You need to have some kind of ticket on the app to get on the bus. Hope that helps!!

    • @onthetrailnz
      @onthetrailnz Месяц назад

      @@user-bw4up2hu7x I think the standard 7 day adult pass for Nordland is 1290 NOK (about 110 Euros). I'm not sure if there is a senior one available. I didn't really look at the prices of the tickets since I had the pass, but I know for sure that for the trip I did, the pass was worth it. Individual tickets are quite expensive. With either a pass or a ticket, the only way to buy and use them is with the Reis Nordland app (or the Troms Billet app for the Troms og Finnmark region). You can enter two points on the app and it will give ticket options and should also show you the passes. You can't use paper tickets or cash - they aren't sold there.

    Snakes. Bears. Wasps. Stinging nettles. Ah! The challenges of overseas travel! Nothing too dangerous to worry about in NZ. Yeah, ongaonga and bush lawyer aren’t cute and cuddly but won’t kill you (probably). You’ll appreciate Aotearoa on your return and all it has to offer. Great you’ve chosen to visit some pretty unusual countries too. Not many venture to Macedonia, Albania etc.

      Haha yes, I think the NZ plants and animals are much more tame 😂 I’ll definitely appreciate what NZ has more than I did! Thanks for watching!!

    Love seeing the actual old buildings, makes me giggle when NZ signs say 'historic' site😂 You were looking like a true kiwi backpacker for a while there...love the new hairdo. Another great video JP, keep em coming and safe travels x

      Haha yes - everyone European that I’ve talked to that’s been to NZ has said the same about the old buildings! I think I should have just kept the old hairstyle going and turned into true bushman style 😂
