Really interesting video - thanks for putting it together. Back in February I climbed the mountain from North Egmont in perfect weather and the following day did part of the Pouakai crossing. Unfortunately the DOC website reported Holly and Pouakai huts as full, yet I later met people who had stayed there and said there were plenty of spaces available. Really annoying…I guess due to people booking and not turning up.
I’d be interested to know what camera gear you are using. I just bought a GoPro Hero 12 and totally new to videoing my adventures. You did a good job blending video and stills - what editing software?
I’ll be back in NZ next week from the UK and really look forward to hitting the trails again. It’s good seeing such inspirational videos to whet my appetite!

Hi, thanks for watching! I would have liked to have climbed the mountain that day, but the weather wasn't exactly ideal, so I thought this would be a good alternative! Yeah I've found that a few times with the huts as well - I don't think the booking system works as well as they expected! I do all of my filming on my iPhone 14 Pro, with a Joby Tripod/Selfie Stick and a Røde Microphone (with windshield). I do all of my editing on iMovie on my computer, which can be a bit slow at times, but it gets me there! Have a great time in NZ!
