  • The third of my videos from Norway. After staying a night in Fredvang (Lofoten Islands), I hike up to Ryten and then on to Kvalvika Beach. A pretty icy hike at this time of year! The next day, I hitch a ride to Å, the last town on the E10 highway and the furtherest you can drive down Lofoten. I stay a night there before catching the ferry from Moskenes to Bodø and exploring Saltstraumen (the world’s strongest tidal current) later that day. I stay my last night in Bodø, before flying out to Frankfurt the next day.
    Any financial help through Buy me a Coffee (www.buymeacoff...) would be greatly appreciated, but even a simple video like or channel subscribe will help. Thank you and enjoy!

    Stunning, what a great video. The roads look lovely and not a pot hole or orange road cone in sight😂

      Haha, that was one of the first things I noticed 😂. All that weather they get to deal with and the roads are still in perfect condition - we could definitely learn a few things from them 😂

    Obviously the cold didn’t bother you Jared! It would be interesting to return in summer as a comparison.
    BTW what are you using to edit your videos? Presumably you took along a laptop and download your iPhone videos onto that for editing? Anyway, the quality is excellent and as a new GoPro user I appreciate how time consuming editing is, and you’re on the move too which must make it even more difficult!
    Will you be returning to the UK at all? I was interested to see an earlier video in the Surrey Hills, a stone’s throw away from me! I was in NZ whilst you were here…would have been a surprise to see you wandering around Box Hill or somewhere in the area!

      Haha, I definitely don’t miss the cold 😂. I would love to go back when it’s actually hiking season and do a few more trails - the landscape would look so different. I am just using my iPhone to edit the videos - I would use iMovie on my laptop if I was at home, but I didn’t want to bring it with me for this trip! I use LightCut and iMovie on my phone - there are features I like about both, so every video goes through both apps 😂. I am not planning on returning to the UK at this stage, but my plans are pretty open still, so anything could happen! It would have been funny to run into there! 😀

    Very nice videos, they've been very helpful while planning a trip to the Lofoten Islands this June!
    Can you share any links or data such as GPX regarding the hiking trails? They were awesome!

      Thanks!! That’s great they’re helpful! I found the website 68north.com really good for planning Lofoten. They have some pretty good descriptions of all the trails and things. More trails (like Reinebringen) will be open in June as well when it’s the right season for hiking. I didn’t record any of my routes on my GPS, but I found the app mapy.cz really good for navigation on the trails - it’s free and you can download the maps offline as well. I hope that helps - enjoy your trip!! 😀

    Hi, just wondering if you got liability insurance to fly your drone. And if so, what insurance company did you use? Thanks!

      Hi, no I didn’t get any specific insurance for the drone. I have Southern Cross Comprehensive Travel Insurance which it is covered under if it gets stolen or something, but that’s all I have 😀

    could you see northern lights in april?

    • @onthetrailnz
      @onthetrailnz  Месяц назад

      Yes, I did see them a few nights, but the first time was on my 18th night in Norway - it was just too cloudy in the first couple of weeks, but then it cleared up and I saw them just about every night!!
