2022 - New York Fashion Week - Super 8 Film - Kodak Vision 3 500T
Back in September of 2022 I went to New York to shoot street style outside the shows during New York Fashion Week, something I've been doing for almost 10 years now. This time I brought a couple vintage 8mm cameras with me.
The following Super 8 footage was almost entirely shot in the rain outside Tommy Hilfiger's SS23 show. I shot this with the expectation it would turn out too dark or completely unusable. Yes it's messy, imperfect, and very random but that's why I love it. Shot on a 1966 Braun Nizo Super 8 camera using Kodak Vision 3 500T Film Stock. Edited in Adobe Premier.
Appearances by Kiwi Lee, Lisa Rinna, Kris Jenner, Kenny Edmonds aka: Baby Face, and Georgia Fowler at the end.

WARNING. This Film has multiple issues and damage but I felt it was important to digitize it. There are some jarring moments in the running of the film but it's worth watching. I apologize for the jumpy footage in some sections but it is the best I can do with my personal equipment. I found this film almost a year ago at an antique shop in Las Vegas. These films only have the name Baker printed...

At the end of 2022, Jodi and I took a trip to Las Vegas to recreate a road trip we did back in 2018. This time around I took one of my Super 8 cameras. Unfortunately the weather was completely different and we experienced cloudy days and multiple snowstorms. One snowstorm in Sedona, Arizona almost killed us. This film is mostly driving footage. It starts off with Jodi at the Nelson Ghost Town i...

I found this film in 2021 at an auction in St. Catherines, Ontario. It was part of a large lot of film including some Kodak yellow boxes with an address pointing to a mining town in Sudbury, Ontario that no longer exists. This recording was the only 16mm reel in the lot, everything else was 8mm. The opening shot is a view from one of the roofs at the Royal York Hotel. It pans across the facade ...

This is a film from my personal family archives. After my Dad passed away in 2020 I found this film in a box under the stairs. My Mom, now 88 years old, told me he was given this film by her father on a trip to Germany in the 1980's. My Grandfather made many 8mm films but unfortunately almost all of them were lost due to a flood in the basement where they were stored for decades. This film is o...

I acquired a collection of large film reels containing home movies from an estate sale in Burlington, Ontario back in 2020. I've tried to find a name for the individual who created these films but all I could find was a last name that once lived at the Burlington address years ago. Not sure if its the same person. I've listed it below. Here is a chapter breakdown to the best of my ability. Plea...

I don't have much information on this film. Picked it up off eBay over a year ago. This 400ft reel came with a note inside with the dates 1957 - 1958. The only location reference I have from this note is for a place called Miracle Lake. I can only find a place in Wisconsin with that name. If anyone recognizes the snowy mountain they drive up at the 05:00 minute mark, please comment below. Here ...

TURN ON THE MUSIC! - On my most recent trip to New York Fashion Week in September 2021, I shot three rolls of 8mm film at 24fps using a 1937 Bell & Howell motion picture camera. I edited it down to this short 3 minute montage of the best footage I recorded and edited to one of my favorite songs from the 80's. This Bell & Howell camera has a 3 lens turret with 2 fixed focus lenses. The camera wa...

If the film is in chronological order, then the red sandstone bluff at 11:01 is probably Red Rock Canyon State Park near Ridgecrest, California. this is on Highway 14 which connects to 395 and Lone Pine.
Love this family's '51 Ford Victoria.
Thanks for the info on the car!
@@ChrisSmartFilms You're welcome.
Man did they wear the wrong shoes for Disneyland! I bet their feet were done by noon
Nice no bums on beach or homeless. Baby mama's weren't a thought...
Hairspray! Rollers, bouffant. Go to bed with rollers in your hair. Uncomfortable. Wake up, back comb into a bouffant do , apply spray. Hopefully lasts a few days.
This is great! The swans! At least the Main Street cinema is still a cinema here (I hope). The one in Wdw has turned into a shop.
Being asked to take someone’s picture because there were no such things as selfies. ;)
The three little pigs characters wearing their Keds sneakers with the blue label on the heel. Memories.
Longboards. Surfing in orange county? One of their piers?
Heaven would be living and owning a house like this one. Love all that retro stuff.....the wall paper, TV, Furniture
Great stuff!
Nice to see 1952 America in unfaded Kodachrome film.
Film is magical. Especially Kodachrome
Alot of Neon Sign Night Footage was taken in Nashville. I shared your video with a local Nashville History Group and they confirmed the exact route the drivee took with business directories, maps and photos from the time period. I clipped the Nashville section of your video, did some slight editing, and shared it on my channel but included your details and a link to the entire footage and your channel, . Thank you so much for saving and sharing.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
terrific
From Orange County and Disneyland in Anaheim was of course much different then. It really was a magical place for kids and even adults. I know a lot of people say it was much cheaper back then, but you have to take into account monies made in the 60s. It wasn't expensive but it wasn't super cheap either. Crowds weren't an issue if I remember correctly, or maybe the excitement kept me from noticing. I still have books of tickets from back then shoved in a shoe box somewhere. For most of us who grew up in Orange County, this was a once a year thing, maybe twice counting Christmas. Disneyland during Christmas in the 60s was incredible. My parents would take us to Disneyland in the summer along with Knotts Berry Farm, another awesome place during the 60s in Buena Park. This wasn't counted as a vacation, but an outing that lasted a whole day. I remember sitting at the window of my bedroom watching the Disneyland fireworks over Bastanchury Hill in Fullerton. It was a great time to be a kid.
Thank you for sharing your story!
Yes. Memorable times.
#DisneyDiva ❤ Disneyland USA❤😊

Thank you for your work. I am sure many "enthusiasts" will enjoy this. It certainly deserves to be preserved as a historical resource.
Wow,, how fantastic! 😍
Glad you like it!
Cool, thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it
You should set that video to some really groovy music!
I don't remember the first ride shown in the video.....looks like a some kind of jet plane type thing. 😂😂
When twa was in business.
I see that "road work ahead" is not a recent phenomenon in Oregon!
I try and try to get into the minds of visitors to figure out why it wasn't as crowded. Was admission and a ticket book the same slice out of one's paycheck as today? sure they had no annual passes. This is before new Tomorrowland and Haunted Mansion and Pirates. I assume the NY world's fair is not yet over. Best reason I think the population of SoCal expanded many many X since then. Even with DCA Imagine if Walmart built 6 stores 2 in Ca and 4 in Fla and never ever built any more. Yep they'd be crowded. While other businesses keep building for extra population, Disney hasn't built a new park in 25 years.
No room to expand, really. They had to take the massive parking lot for dca. The resort is more or less hemmed in. Victim (physically) of its own popularity. Even if disneyland forward project materialises, they’ll still be on the same existing footprint. Will be sacrificing expanses (parking lots) for rides. Nowhere to go but up.
Incredible to think DCA is almost 25 years old.
Love the vibe 🥂
Thank you!!
So cool. Makes me want to buy a super 8 camera
Thank you! I highly recommend it.
At 2:49 we see the Stagecoach ride in Disneyland. These operated only through 1959 when they were discontinued. The footage from Tomorrowland shows the original TWA Rocket from "Rocket To The Moon" and the Monsanto Hall of Chemistry. Circarama was a forerunner to Circlevision which debuted at Disneyland in 1967 with the New Tomorrowland section.
Thanks for the extra details!
Thank you so much for sharing this!! I love the lost snap shots of daily life. I believe the clips around 4:15 are at Queen's Athletic Field
Thank you!
The diver is in Lake Ramsey , in the background is the City of Sudbury Fresh Water Pumping Station. The canon is at some point on Bell Park overlooking Lake Ramsey
Thank you for the details!
Awesome! I was waiting for the snow to show up in some clip, after all it's the integral part of Canada! Finally snow showed up, but remarkably most of them are shot in summer it seems! I wish people would wear such clothes too now. Anyway, real gem this video is!
Levine's in Sudbury ...I saw the sign in the movie...Bridal clothing, shoes etc. On Durham...long gone...
First time I went was 1964. I remember all these things and more. I remember riding donkeys and I remember some sort of ride that was kind of like a salt and pepper shaker but not as bad. I could be wrong on that, but definitely rode the donkeys there. I drove the cars we did the submarine ride. I remember the band. I remember the women in the funny outfit. So funny, I have pictures still not too many but some.
the archies in the beginning i see jug head and betty dancing lol
It’s so interesting how some parts of the city still remind of that. The sidewalks and some of those stone and iron rod railings still look like that but there isn’t a tram anymore just sone left over rails in the city
Thank you so much for the comment! I was hoping someone from the area would recognize the location
The iron rod railings do look familiar. Could that be near the train station? Valentinerallee perhaps?
You'll notice in the film a sign that says Am Lautrupsbach, would that mean then the bridge with the Iron railings we see is the main road? Bismarckstraßa?
Thanks for sharing this!
7:06 Visual history of why the characters have handlers today...
Wow, Mickey was short back then!
Mickey’s been through some things. ;). He is now corporate Mickey. Well fed.
In 1965, The Lion King Didn’t Exist Until 1994
Those poor pigs! Lolololol
I was born in 1966 a year later. Wow, doesn't seem to be any crowds there that day.
One year before Walt’s Death
Thank you for uploading and sharing this. It’s amazing!
Ladies and gentlemen, that era was the peak of our humanity. My parents were lucky to have lived during those years, I don't belong to nowadays society.
What Disney movies were out at this time? Only a few
Throughout the 50s they released two to three movies a year. Starting in 1961 it went up to about five to seven a year. Pretty well on the map at least.
No Pixar of course. Hayley Mills was all the rage. The original version of the Parent Trap. Walt was focused on his Florida project.
Wow, I can't believe how much of Disneyland was already built and dialed-in by the early 1960's. It looks so similar to today.
Yes. They’re at they 10th anniversary. Still need to do fantasyland makeover. Maybe have already done the Mary Blair mural, Tomorrowland “on the move “ redo project. It really needed a refresh. Kind of like today’s situation.
There's practically nobody there
