Update, I take some of what I said back. The speed, guns, and roll rate are still good, but the turning ability of the Ki-44 in sim battles is a bit hampered by the instability the fighter has. It REALLY likes to yaw to one side and the only trim you get is for the elevator. You can still get kills in it, but it is a bit annoying.

It's one of the planes that I always feel a bit scared of going against. It's usually piloted by skilled players, and I don't know enough about it to make good decisions. I haven't made a video of a Japanese plane yet so its maybe this one or the zero! Thanks for the suggestion:)

Nice! I used the same hotas in this video or rather the old variant, the x55. The spitfire is a bit harder to learn than most planes, but it is worth the effort since it is very powerful. I noticed I got better when I reduced the pitch sensitivity in settings.

@@involuntarycommander8804 I’ve turned my sensitivity up, I’ve lost some stability but I like to be aggressive and do sharpe angles so need as much movement as possible. Going from controller to joystick is interesting 🤣 just need some pedals as jaw messes me up most

I see, that's good! As long as you can fly without entering flatspins too often! I just got pedals, it took me a few days to get used to them after twist on the joystick. I love the minute rudder movements you can make.

@@involuntarycommander8804 Definitely worth the effort. Until a couple years ago i've been helping to manage and flying a lot on the Skies of Valor server, which was based on the old IL2 1946. If you haven't already tried, i recommend winging up with others. We were mainly using BnZ tactics and got out alive way more often than being shot down.

Low tier is good 👍 top tier is changing with new stuff coming out. But I think War thunder is the best sim game if you play solo and have less time on your hands.

Try adjusting the pitch, rudder and aileron sensitivity. Lowering it can make it easier to aim, but it will cripple your maneuverability somewhat. Also, I have had many hours of practice and if you give it some time in teat flight you'll get there eventually. Good luck to you, I hope this was to some help :)

I use a -5 elevator trim only. I try to use aileron and not too much elevator when I fly defensive in the La-7. Too much elevator and you'll flatspin.

It's trackIR by the looks of it. The best option for head tracking in sims. There are cheaper alternatives though - either you can use an air mouse for a mouse look, or face tracking with the simple webcam. Air mouse is an option available for consoles as well, and I think, it's the only option. Although both alternative solutions are kinda meh compared to trackIR, they are better than using hat switches for looking around.

I can confirm, it is TrackIR. I've never tried anything else and it has worked for me without issue for more than 5 years.

Thanks man! Yes, think about the pros and cons of VR vs TrackIR before buying. I got TrackIR 5 years ago because VR wasn't that good. Now that VR is better it could be nice. But you still have the issue of being blindfolded which can make it difficult to find buttons and so on.

I love the P-38L. Such a nimble plane despite its size. Awesome climber aswell and the air brake is neat if you get too excited 😊

@@involuntarycommander8804 yes that air brake always gets em on the first turn, I go straight up then immediately apply landing flaps. It’s over from there usually. Also adequate against 2 109s if you do it right.

@@involuntarycommander8804 I usually vertical first to get em slow then go into a scissor. My only issue is yak 3s. Oh and bf-109Gs are always worthy opponents and will be able to keep up with the turn.

That's a nice trick! Also the P-38 is a stable plane so it feels very good to fly IMO:)

@@involuntarycommander8804 just ordered Logitech’s G X56 with rudder pedals. My Thrustmaster T-1600m was honestly garbage. The throttle would drift and the rudder pedals just went off center after less than 10 hours of use. I’ll be returning to sim, hopefully with my oculus but those batteries are trash.

I would probably say it as I pronounce 'jungle' but I am sure I'm not consistently doing that as I am not a native English speaker. I'm sure you will forgive me ;)

Yeah, the P-51 is iconic. I think the P-51 D variants are a bit unstable but It's manageable! Other than that it's a lovely aircraft I could boom n zoom in all day :)

@@involuntarycommander8804 im a big fan of 9.7-10.3. F8E, and the A-10, but never can go wrong with 2.7-3.7 American props. (Im a USA main all my other countries are 6.0 or lower )

Nice! The US has such a good variety of planes. I have been playing around in 9.7 with the British Lightning and that has been good fun.

Yeah, the massive engine gives so much acceleration and climb rate. It's just a shame it can't dive! Or I would boom n zoom all day.

I have very little experience with the French tech tree. What do you think is the strongest aspect of the D.510? I'm sure I can be tempted to fly it :)

​@@involuntarycommander8804the plane have a very good turn rate, as much as roll rate, but with being maneuverable it have a strong 20mm in the nose (extremely good in it's br) with a few ammo wich is it's counterpart

A Button to Look around

I use a head tracker called TrackIR. This enables me to use head movement to look around. I have a video about TrackIR on the channel.

@@involuntarycommander8804 yea but i mean, if i want to Look around i have to press a Button i just wanted to know why you dont have to press one.

I see. War thunder supports the TrackIR software and I am guessing this overrides the function where you have to push a button. I don't know how it works exactly :)

I use a head tracker called TrackIR.

I don't use controller, but I would go into war thunder controls and keybind the trim axis and the "save trim" button to something then go in to test flight. In test flight I would get the plane up to speed 100% throttle at level flight and trim so it keeps flying straight. Then I would just hit the save trim button and voila, that specific plane is now trimmed forever. Good luck to you, I hope this helped! :)

@@involuntarycommander8804 While by most standards, it's mediocre, it has some strengths. At low speeds, it has amazing turning and seems to excel at a lower altitude. It can also dive quite well, which makes it a competent boom-and-zoom aircraft, although the elevators can become partially locked up at high speeds. It has 1 20mm cannon with 60 rounds as well as 4 7.7mm MGs with about 2000 rounds, so it requires good trigger discipline and rewards well placed shots with conserving ammo. Overall, it's pretty good and fits the role of a fighter quite well and can actually be quite unsuspecting, which can make enemies get sloppy around you.

@deremjool8043 interesting, it doesn't sound bad at all. I like the fact that most people probably don't know what it's strengths are which is super important for decision-making which in turn usually wins you the fight. I will take the D.520 out for a spin and get a feel for it definitely:)

Thanks, and welcome to the sim community! :) I could probably do that at some point. I believe that the keybinds are only preference and that it is the pitch, roll and rudder sensitivity that are the most important options. Those options should be tested out in test flight for each plane. For setup I use a TrackIR and hotas :)
