    • @DigitalRelay

      This setup doesn't work that way. The audio output of the PS5 is not used at all with the bass shakers. The PS5 broadcasts the game's telemetry data - g forces, speed, road impacts, gear shifts, etc. The Simhub application running on a Windows PC receives that data, which is used to create effects. The settings of the triggered effect determines the frequency and volume being sent to each bass shaker, which results in vibration. There may be a simpler way to take the audio over HDMI and run it through a bass shaker, but I don't have any experience with that. All you're going to get with that type of system is low frequencies sound getting fed to the bass shakers, similar to running a subwoofer. You'll have no control over effects like you would using Simhub.

    MAC or a PC? it can't be both, and dont give me no "technically it is" nonsense. It's not. 30% of this video is just you explaining your own shortcomings when it comes to setting up. Then, explaining the shortcoming of your trashcan Windows setup adds to that. Finally, you explain that if it ain't plug and play like GT on a PS, you aint interested. I haven't played iRacing for years, and I do play GT almost every day, so this isn't even about you not liking iRacing (or not giving it a real chance). It mostly about this video and it not at all being about iRacing vs GT like the title would suggests. Its just another video where an Apple user explains why he doesn't like anything not Apple because its to complicated (yeah, GT on PS falls in that same category). Annoying

      “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” - Arthur C Clarke GT7 broadcasts the games telemetry data on your local network. Once setup to look for it, your Simhub PC receives that data on your network, then Simhub uses the data to create effects that get sent on to whatever haptic devices you have installed. It's pretty great for simracing and fun to build, figure out and get working. Thanks for watching!

    What rumble motors are you using? Were the ones from the PS4 controller too weak? You mentioned you upgraded to the motors from a Logitech controller, could you share the name/link to the controller you used for the donation?

    • @DigitalRelay
      @DigitalRelay 13 дней назад

      I ended up buying a lot of 4 non-working PS4 controllers on eBay and scavenged the motors for my main rig at home, and my portable wheel stand rig. They are strong enough. I don't run them at full voltage even. I think they are designed to run at 5v and I'm feeding them from a 12v power supply with limited voltage. I'm not sure if I'll end up killing them by sending too much power, but they've been fine for nearly a year, and since I have extras for little money, I don't mind if I eventually have to replace them. Getting a solid mount on your pedal is key. I used 3D plastic standoffs on my main rig, but even a single zip tie on my portable rig works well. You just want to make sure the vibration gets sent into the pedal as well as you can.

    • @DigitalRelay

      Yes, I've thought about doing a motion rig, but from what I've read, unless you spend way more money than I have, they aren't worth it for sim racing feedback and immersion. Plus, they take up more room than I have, and I need my rig to be semi-portable. I think transducers are fantastic and add to the immersion factor, and also can provide valuable feedback about what your car is doing in the game.

    Hi! Very interesting video, thanks man! There's also similar mod using 25W 50mm resonance speakers. How do you think vibration motor compares to them? I guess motor is much more limited in vibration frequency? Does it have noticable lag? Can't figure out what's better. One one hand speakers are really easy to setup, connect them to amp, amp to PC and you're golden. Wider vibration frequency is nice to have as well. On other hand, they could be much louder than motor. And maybe less obvious? I'm feeling like you can have em both on same pedal) Speaker screwed down do the pedal base with "drilling-like" vibrations, and motor attached to pedals back side for "rumble" low-frequency haptic.

    • @DigitalRelay
      @DigitalRelay 20 дней назад

      Good questions! For me, I was already doing wind simulation, so I had the Arduino Uno and motor shield board. All I needed was a couple of salvaged rumble motors. If I was starting from scratch, I might pick transducers because I think they are probably faster and more flexible with tuning, but the rumble motors are pretty quick to spin up, and you can kind of tune them in Simhub by adjusting the power that goes to them. Transducers are going to require an audio interface/power amp like the nobsound, so if I went that route on this rig for the pedals, I would have needed a second nobsound interface/amp. On my main rig where the PS5 and Simhub PC are hard wired to my router, there is very little lag. On my portable rig at my girlfriend's house with PS4 and Simhub PC both on wifi, there is some lag. But that whole rig is kind of a step down from what I have at home. Noise wise, they are pretty similar in level, but a different type of sound. Honestly, any haptics on your rig are going to make some noise. I mitigated some of it on my main rig with rubber isolators on the bottom of the cockpit, but the nature of making vibrations is that they will also make sound.

    • @uzverUA
      @uzverUA 20 дней назад

      @@DigitalRelay Thanks for reply man, I really appreciate it! Very interesting point on connection delay. That was, for some reason, unexpected for me. Didn't have any experience with arduino. I'll definitely will look into making wired connection. On the noise you surprised me. I knew it can't be completely silent, but wasn't expected same volume as transducers especially because of lower frequencies. Guess vibrations and metal aren't good combinations for quietness either way)) But are motors distinct enough in lower frequency haptics? I mean in lows they should have much more stronger feel compared to transducer because small moving diaphragm shouldn't be nowhere near spinning weight. Before watching your video I was researching only transducers. Now I kinda want to do both. But really not sure if I won't end up with vibration mess. It won't be a big problem, because you inspired me to do wind simulation as well. So it will be like 2 in 1 deal. But still I need to make my best effort. Not only to have like 2 separate effects per pedal. Maybe it would be better to have rumble abs and higher frequency transducer on traction loss\wheel slip. So those haptics won't interfere with one another, because, theoretically, in tight, quality pedals there should be some leak of transducer vibration from one pedal to another. Or, at the minimum, they won't be the same, which adds a bit to immersion. Or, if that leak will be not significant and each type of vibration will be like really noticeable from one another, then it will be possible to make something like back wheel slip and\or TC on acceleration pedal, and front wheel slip + abs on brake pedal. Where slip will be higher pitch transducers and tc/abs on motors. I'm beginner in the sim racing, so learning with that much information from the start could be really fun)

    • @DigitalRelay
      @DigitalRelay 13 дней назад

      With the motors, it's not really about low frequency haptics for me. It's just getting them to rumble enough that I can feel it in my foot. I have noticed if I have too much power going to them, they can vibrate against the pedal and make noise, but by adjusting the strength up or down, I can mitigate the sound, but keep the feel. I feel like the transducers are quicker to give feedback. The motors take just a little time to spin up, but it still works for me. On my portable rig with PS4 and Simhub on wifi, the lag is more noticeable, especially the motors. Before I added the rumble motors, I had abs and traction loss going through the transducers, but it was hard to really tell what was what with other effects going. By putting abs on brake rumble motor, and traction loss on throttle, it helps pinpoint those effects, and by not having them on the transducers, it's easier to feel what they are doing with the other effects. The cool thing is with Simhub, you can customize however you want and play with different settings until you find what works for you.

    • @uzverUA
      @uzverUA 13 дней назад

      @@DigitalRelay Shame to say, but in the end I went with simagic haptic reactors. I was a bit worried about harm that can cause all those longterm all-direction vibrations from either transducers or rumble motors, as well as compromises of both solutions. Simagic made specific "linear" motor which moves weight only in one axis, towards pedal pad and against it. So there's no sideways vibrations. And it has no observable latency(yt: sim racing corner showed that on slow mo) like other motors do(same yt channel tested that as well with "generic" solution). Plus it's very pronounce in frequency range that really matters for vibration 20-50Hz. Plus it's compact. So yeah, it has all goods of both worlds and none of their bads. Still bought booty shakers though)) For chair vibrations they're the best. Huge thanks to you for help. You made lots of interesting points that inclined me to search more and find simagic solution. And yes, practically speaking, the airflow definitely makes a difference. Especially in AZ in summer!

Im not a pc fan boy, use it for VR and racing. Only reason i own a pc. Gt7 been good to me, only thing i play on psvr2. Play it daily. Don't use my rig for ps5. Controller. Ps5 isn't compatible with asetek.

      @13guns87 Since you race in VR both on PC and PS5, would you mind sharing your VR experience? I'm on an old PC (i7-7700k GTX1080) + Logitech DFGT wheel + HTC Vive from 2017. I'm buying PS5 soon (mainly for the upcoming GTA6). I'm wondering if getting GT7 + PSVR2 will enhance my VR racing experience. My wheel is not supported, so I'll use the PS5 controller. I'm interested in racing vs AI mostly and had lots of fun in VR on PC playing PC2, Dirt Rally 2, AC with mods and iRacing. Do you think it's worth buying PSVR2 + GT7 or I'm not missing out much playing on my old PC untill I buy a new one?

    iRacing is like a golf country club to me… your expected to be perfect and proper all the time. They clearly forget that there’s a reason most of us are gamers, and not real life racers. I’ve tried iRacing and it brings a lot anxiety …I play to game and have fun so I stick with GT7 or other less serious sims like ACC or F124.

    hi DigitalRelay, how did you do to make the shakers work in gt7, can you help me with it, I can't get the simagic haptic pedals reactor to work in gt7, in the simhub dashboard software I see that gt7 game is running but the haptic pedals reactor remains disabled in simhub software, what am I doing wrong?

    • @DigitalRelay
      @DigitalRelay 2 месяца назад

      Did you enter the PS4 or PS5 IP address into Simhub? If not, you need to go to network settings on your PS4 or PS5 and find out the IP address. Then in Simhub, under Game/Telemetry Config, you enter the IP address so Simhub knows where to listen for the data. If you enter the IP address and you still aren't getting data from GT7, you may need to verify the UPD ports match. I've noted to mess with those though.

      @@DigitalRelay, hi, thanks for feedback, that's right I said the ip address of ps5 in the simhub software, the problem is that the simagic p-hpr haptic does not turn on in the simhub software it stays off.

      the simagic p-hpr haptic only turns on in the simhub software when I connect the pedals to the pc they turn on but when I connect the pedals to the base and via ps5 they turn off in the simhub software, this way the simhub software does not see the pedals

    Does the arduino just connect and know what to do in simhub or are there things to do on the arduino software

    • @DigitalRelay
      @DigitalRelay 2 месяца назад

      There is some setup involved. There are other videos out there that go into detail, but basically, in Simhub, you identify your Arduino and flash firmware to it. Then you'll need to enable effects and tune those effects. Check this video out... ruclips.net/video/7EAvur23FLk/видео.html

      @@DigitalRelaywhat gauge wire did you use to run the lines from the arduino to the motors?

    • @DigitalRelay
      @DigitalRelay Месяц назад

      I think it was 24 gauge wire. I scavenged the wire from a dead AC/DC power supply. The wire was heavier than the tiny wires on the rumble motors.

    • @killED122
      @killED122 Месяц назад

      @@DigitalRelay awsome yea i was wondering if i should find wire that small or if i go with heavier due to the increased length

    • @DigitalRelay
      @DigitalRelay Месяц назад

      Yeah, I think going heavier gauge is always safer, but I don't think there's too much power going to them. The one thing I would caution on is that if you're using rumble motors from a game controller, those are typically rated at 5v. On my rig, I'm using a 12v power supply because of the fans. I don't send the rumble motors full power, but I guess I'm risking burning them out because of the larger power supply. I figured I'd take that risk since those motors are pretty cheap and easy to source if I do burn them out. I've been running them this way since I published this video, no problems yet.

    Hey DR Could you please explain your input into the amp? Im about to install 2 bst1's with the nobsound 200w amp. You mentioned "usb" input but where does this input come from? Is a "hdmi sound extractor" absolutely necessary? If so you could you please explain how you got it all setup? I have the same rig with GPro wheel and pedals on series x.

    • @DigitalRelay
      @DigitalRelay 2 месяца назад

      If you're using Simhub or similar software, you do NOT need an HDMI sound extractor. Simhub receives the telemetry data, then uses that data to trigger the effects going to the Nobsound interface/amp, which feeds the transducers. I think an HDMI audio extractor would only be used in a simple system where you were basically using the transducers as subwoofer for the TV sound. This would give you some bass shaker effect, but you'd have almost no control over it. If you are using Simhub, have control over each effect. For example, if you had 4 bass shakers, one on each corner of your rig, you could make it so when simhub detects wheel spin, you it triggers only the rear bass shakers. You also can use the frequency setting to help differentiate different effects. You also get to control volume/balance. So if you wanted brake lockup to trigger just your front left bass shaker, you can do that. In a nutshell, Simhub does not use any game or TV audio. It's actually generating its own audio signal, but the purpose of the bass shaker is to feel the vibration rather than hear an audible sound. Although, the nature of making vibrations on your rig is likely to be heard. I hope that makes sense.

    • @quintondafel225
      @quintondafel225 2 месяца назад

      So if I understand you correctly, its a usb output from the "laptop/computer" that is running sim hub directly to the usb input on the amp? This may just be easier than I first thought.

    • @DigitalRelay
      @DigitalRelay 2 месяца назад

      @@quintondafel225 Yes, that's correct. The Simhub PC just needs a USB connection to the nobsound interface/amp.
