History of the Language of Flowers (Floriography)
Asserting the notion that Gothic architecture has no original basis in the European mind and is merely an amalgamation of Arab, Mediterranean, and Armenian influences makes me want to tear them down. They come across as foreign occupation buildings under that narrative. Can the Germanics and the imagination of Abbot Suger have any credit?
Great, some more moulds we can pour ourselves into… just read literature, read the classics, watch art house movies and the classics, study, go to university, practice a sport, go to the theatre, visit museums, galleries, libraries… culture yourself, expand your horizon… there is no need to turn yourself in a walking cosplay character
Life saver! I have some gothic books and they're all my favourites, but I had trouble with finding more, because there's basically no information about them + they're super hard to find [for example Woman in black, I wanted to read it, google says it is gothic, but I can't even confirm, because it's nowhere to be find in my country]. So thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Now I have recommendations to search for and read for years to come <3

I love gothic literature!!! I've read some of these but not most of them, so I wanted a reference of all the titles and authors mentioned here :) Also about the phantom of the opera, I was totally surprised by how different Erik is in the original book, and despite the book's flaws I really enjoyed reading it. Thank you for the video on one of my favorite topics!
You're such a lifesaver. 🖤 I knew Erik from the book first. So imagine how surprised I was to see how he looks like on screen😂
Thank you for another really good video 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I completely love Gothic Literature 🖤
Thank you for watching as well. I agree. Gothic literature rarely disappoints 🖤
@kjrasa True but which one do you prefer older gothic literature or the newer modern material out now
Great video! I love gothic lit but I still added some of these books to my tbr

Hi! It's good to be back. Thanks for watching!
Late 1900s 😂😂
I love black roses because I i like to think there's beauty in the darkness
Visual Kei subgenre: ruclips.net/video/G_YghxoS_oQ/видео.htmlsi=YXtlBGKTXAA3Dthi
I'm goth but I'm more of the wear black I don't do any of that bullshit makeup shit. I also don't do tattoos or piercings ear piercings is fine.
I’m more of an pop-punk kind of emo, but I would love to dress goth as well. Kinda both. My favorite bands are Green Day, MCR, and The Offspring :)
A couple of tv shows that could be within the dark aesthetic are Strange Days at Blake Holsey High (Black Hole High) or maybe even Gossip Girl.
Another dark academic movie is The Covenant (2006).
Good video overrall, but: Eroguro kei actually does not exist, at least not as a subgenre/substyle of visual kei. The bands fans here in the west tend to classify as "eroguro" are either misshitsu/chikashitsu kei, kote kei or loud kei. What we call "angura kei" are actually two substyles misshitsu kei (and its many alternative names) and wafuu kei, which have completely different aesthetics and are based/inspired by different periods of Japanese history. It's "Osare kei", not "oshare kei".
Goth would be zombies, emos are vampires.
so glad i found this video on my timeline ! spotify recently started showing me random vkei songs and ive fallen in love w all of them, so im looking forward to get myself more into this genre :3
Very interesting, I often have trouble focusing while watching a lot of videos but you managed to keep me glued to every word. I was wondering if you would do a video on Italianate architecture. There aren't very many videos and I am struggling to find information.
Always happy to see another Exist Trace fan!
Not only are they sweet but they are extremely intellectual and concious if their surroundings. My 20 year old has been a devoted Goth since 2014. Shes not Wicked, evil or Satanic. Shes actually highly scientific.... Shes also extremely responsible and respectful.
Punk for life...
what is the difference between goth and punk?
thank you so much your videos are wonderful i adore the way you structure them to be so informative and helpful without them being too stuffed with everything it's all so much easier for my brain to process
This is one of the best videos explaining visual kei I've come across as there's a lot of misinformation out there, but this was very insightful! Very well said. Thank you!
I'd rather be dead than be a goth
not sure if you'll be able to answer this(*_*) but, do vkei concerts in america hold the same etiquette as in japan?
Same thing i dont care
Wonderful video very well detailed.❤
This is really good, but I go one step further. Honestly I take the gender label on the item or style, and throw it away. With few exceptions all clothing is genderless, and the androgyny of the scene is what pulled me into the scene. I wear gowns, dresses, skirts, leggings, catsuits, flowy blouses, "Men's" dress shirts, tights, heels, pikes...etc, and all while presenting as male, even if quite "feminine" looking. Goth is the perfect setting to test out such styles, but it's even better getting them out of the confines of goth events and out in the mainstream. :P
Have you read Barbara Michales' AMMIE. COME HOME or THE WALKER IN SHADOWS? If so, how would you characterize them? The settings are modern but involve old houses and dark doings in the past.
The introduction to my copy of Jane Austen's NORTHANGER ABBEY kept telling the reader how funny it was. I read and didn't even chuckle. Then I read SEVEN MASTERPIECES OF GOTHIC HORROR. I reread NORTHANGER ABBEY and laughed at how accurately she skewered the gothic genre of her time.
Thanks for using the theme from Hitchcock's "Psycho" as part of your background music.
I recognize that Stephen King quotation from his DANSE MACABRE.
Alright, stop. We keep loooking at material, armed history. Where are the DNA matkers? White-skinned, blue-eyed blonds come from Altai, Mongolia. How did the that population shift to Scandanavia?
Do you have any good books about the goth history
Oh so that's how you determine the difference between the Night Lords and Raven Guards...
Me realizing that the goths were not all goths:-C
Is plastic tree visualkei
You worked hard for this video
Jane Eyre as in "air", not Eyre as in "ire".
Horror lover here! I am excited to hear your insights on this as I am also fascinated by goth culture.
My favorite video game with gothic architecture is bloodborne. the cities in that game are absolutely breathtaking, if you haven't seen it you have to check it out
beautiful monsters you cool🦇🕷🕸🥀🐺

very interesting and informative , thanks so much for this, i could listen to another hour of this. I really like it when I leave a video with more ideas and names for research. would love to hear more
yep, the Visigoths got all assimilated into Hispania and their descendants are alive today in Spain and were part of the conquest of the Americas, names like Guzman in Spanish are Gothic, Guzman = Goodman, Rodriguez = Rodrickson, the word "guerra" comes from Gothic
