Hello follow RUclipsr here I rent a house. It is over 3000 ft.² with Satilo tile floors that are not sealed properly in the Sonora desert. This was a very helpful video and I appreciate it.

Saltillo is not the same as terracotta. What solvent based sealer would you recommend if you are advising us not to use water based sealer. Pressure based extractors work much faster than old school scrubbing and rag pick up methods. This is a Saltillo tile and the reddish color is the slip clay that should remain on the clay body or you will reveal sand and air pockets as the surface is (sanded from overt abrasion)

What stripper do you reccomend that is currently on the market?

My stone tile was installed 12 years ago and foyer was sealed, but hearth was not. Can I do it now? How would I clean it first? It always looks dirty, even after washing on hands and knees with lots of water. I read all of the comments and think I would prefer the product that enhances the color and seals. Thanks!

None of this guy's videos give any information on what product to use. I think they're just "hire me" videos. I'm in Spain, so that's not an option.

I had to use a steel brush on this terracotta recently, it worked. Only reason being, the tile is about 80 years old and it’s been sealed over for about 15 years, without a strip and wax job.

Does this work on the terracotta pudding tile if it was glazed?

There are no easy resources to learn how to tile saltillos… I have researched extensively but the only decent channel is this one where the guy calls me mentally deficient ironically.

Try using nonsanded grout

Eh I bought brand new tiles from Mexico, they were pitted out of the box. That’s not a product of sandins

Nice methodical work, did you use lime mortar or cement to point, personally I would of used lime with sharp sand.

I have this damage on my slate floor. I’ve tried mineral turpentine, methylated spirit, acetone. No success.

After binging countless Fritz vids regarding my 40 year old inherited Saltillo, I’d NEVER sand these suckers! Fritz, you are a wonderful & informative resource that I treasure. Truly! I’ve taken on my own work here because well… you are very, VERY far from me or I’d have hired you, hands down. Now… wish me luck, stamina & success LOL I’ve already been stripping like a lioness & committed to nailing this with your library of guidance. Takes a bit longer than your Secret Sauce (ok, much longer to melt it), but Zep Heavy Duty is all us plebs can get & eventually gets through the crazy concoction of mixed products & levels off this floor. 😂 The Scotch Bright scrubbies you use have also been crucial to a thorough strip down to the raw stage. Praise Dee Lawd, Fritz. Mahalo!!!! 🌈

With proper chemical and dwell time, crb scrubber and a grout brush i could do the whole floor without having to get on my hands and knees and hand wipe every single tile....

There’s tools and flooring equipment you can use to strip the old sealer and literally one machine that sucks up all the residue it’s like a wet vac with a large squeegee it’s just alot of manual labor that can be saved and the job could be done more efficiently

I do Saltillo and Saltillo restoration and Saltillo is never “old or damaged” it’s just lived in and can have wear and tear but it’s pretty easy you’re fresh

That could have been sanded and refreshed and looked like a brand new new floor

Ah ha moment - the sides of the tiles need to be sealed too so you don’t get those watermarks… 👍👍

Trying to find out what you use to strip and seal I live in Italy in 100 year old house 40 years of dirt.. I've scrubbed with Coke I scrubbed with dish soap I scrub with baking soda I don't know how to get the paint off to strip it down any other room

Over rated crappy tile. It borders retardant.

I just remodeled my kitchen and installed saltile tiles on the floor (the lighter colored ones). They sealed them with a matte finish (per my request) but now I want a bit of shine to them. Not a crazy shine but just not so so matte. Can I put a shiny sealer over the matte sealer?

How to remove if i missed to remove excess right away and buff excess amount.
