I have two and I love them

I have both mental and physical health issues. I am soon hopefully going to move into a flat and want a spaniel as an assistance dog. It would help get me out of the house more, breaking the cycle of my high Anxiety. Baths, Snuggles, trips to Starbucks, Supermarkets, Running in the local Park, or find a River or Brook for he or she to swim in (not a Swamp) having a cocker in the house would have plenty of baths, grooming, ear cleaning, to keep there brains engaged - lick mats, puzzle toys, alongside having a medium sized crate so they have there own space. I would do things such as long line training on stay and recall in my local park, work in the house with the Spanner on what is expected of an Assistance Dog and also in public places have a harness on saying Service Dog in Training, restaurants, cafes, pubs, cinema, shopping centre etc which are my worse nightmare would be an ideal place to have an assistance dog alongside medical appointments. I would find a local dog sitter who could look after he or she if I had to go into hospital. If I went abroad I would find a suitable kennels out in the countryside. If it’s hot weather it’s a case of stay in or get a cooling mat, ice cream and wear protective boots for there feet.

i have had cavalier for 11 years, my oldest dog recently passed away at 11 years old, was so sad for a long time, but greatful for those 11 years i spent with him, i have his son left,he is 4 years old. only going to have cavalier in my life. and i´m home with him all day, he is never alone. i´m so close to him.

My Jelly lived to age 10, and I was completely broken hearted when she died. My goal was to get her to her tenth birthday, so I was happy about that. She was absolutely the sweetest dog we’ve ever had. She’d just sit on my chest and stare into my eyes like she was saying “I love you more than anything”. She had heart problems and suffered from bouts of syncope where she’d faint. It was scary for her and for us! I’ve never spent so much at the vet as I did on Jelly. It’s like buying a car, but you’ll be left with only love and great sweet memories.

This video is spot on..we have two Cavaliers, one is two years old and the other is 13 years old, the 13-year-old got much happier when we brought the new one home. But I made a mistake a few years ago and I yelled at my Cavalier, it was absolutely heartbreaking to see the hurt and how the negative reaction how the dog did not like being yelled at. I never did it again and I never do it again because I saw her eyes the hurt. They are incredible dogs, and they constantly sit on my lap every time I sit on the couch and I love it. These dogs are very sensitive and very loving, they are actually perfect.

Why wouldn’t you want a springer spaniel , we have 3 and are the most loyal dogs . You’d be stupid not to have one if given the opportunity. Don’t listen to this

5 years ago we got a 5 year old cocker mix from the humane society. That dog had health issues and had a leg amputated once he settled in with us and is rather sedate, except at meal times. No prey drive and had charmed our grumpy old cat into sleeping with him. Last year we got a 2 year old cocker mix, he loves to run just to be running and has a highly developed prey drive. He has killed rabbits, squirrels and a possum in our yard. I dont dare let him off lead away from the house unless we are in a fenced dog park.

Why you should get a cavalier King Charles spaniel 1: they are good with children. 2: it is one of the best dogs for first time owners. 3: they do great in apartments(if you live in one) 4: they help with anxiety

I agree that it’s not Dogs for anyone, but I had never experienced the problems described in this video! (I groom my Dogs myself and activates physically every day. I live in a city in an apartment)

*I rescued a Springer from a despicable shelter. She was caged for 3 years* *with 4 dog cages on top of her. Piper was taken out every 32 hours just so they* *could hose her and the cage. She didn't even have a name. She was never* *socialized. 500 dogs with 2 workers!* *When she was transported to me...($150) she was totally knocked out. I* *was heartbroken. She was so traumatized she slept under the bed for 3 days.* *I slept with her...as she slowly came out to eat, drink and go potty on pee pads* *Three years later I would describe her as a shut down dog. My office/bedroom* *is her safe place and she refuses to leave it.* *I was told by an animal behaviorist to NOT concentrate with what she can't do* *but be happy with what she does. She went outside once, but a stray pitbull* *jumped on her back (What are the odds) and that was it for her!* *She will roam around the house when all is asleep. My husband and I, but she* *knows the minute that I am up in the office, she is up by my side and never leaves* *The Shelter has been reported and shut down. I will love her until I die. I do not* *leave her for more that 2 hours. She is my heartbeat.* 💖💫 *PS when I go out in the Living Room to watch TV she will NOT join me. She will* *only stay in my office! She will go on large washable Pee Pads in range of my office*

Living at Brighton beach, they are the MOST ANNOYING dogs - barking at some imaginary ball constantly. If I see one I go lie somewhere else because the owners seems to have gotten used to the barking

Im so glad that so many have good comments, but this guy is just wanting to make sure that people don't follow a fad and get a dog that doesn't fit them. I think this video is well meaning and meant to help people out

Always had larger breed dogs. After waiting a while after one of mine passed my wife and I saw a rescue from a puppy mill. We made the decision to adopt her and my god. Never have I had such a devoted dog. I’m besotted. I’m her person and she adores me and our staffy. She’s super affectionate and she’s so beautiful. We have occasional accidents in the house due to her being caged but we’re slowly getting there. If it suits your lifestyle as Will says, they are just perfect.

I have a springer, the best thing I did was to almost ignore him when he was hyper, when he was calm I would say “calm” and give affection, in time (I’m talking a year) when I say calm now, he knows to slow down. Making him wait outside after a walk while I make a cup of tea to then invite him into the home also changed the game for me. I noticed almost instantly that he now looks for me to do almost anything. It’s very important to understand that NO is not negative. Saying no to a dog isn’t cruel. It’s essential. I think no should be the most understood command you can give a dog.

I've had a Cocker, as it was trained to be a support companion. This animal's ability to sense when something isn't right, is absolutely phenomenal -- they are almost perfectly in tune with their owners emotional status and can often pick up on anxiety attacks before you even register that you're having one. I just buried my best friend (Roxy, My Cocker) and let me tell you, I've never had a better breed of animal. The prices on buying one these days in Canada is absolutely staggering now, $800+ for one ... That's a bit steep for someone on Disability and Veteran's Affairs. But if I ever had the opportunity to, I'd have another one in a heartbeat. This dog perfectly emulated everything about me. It was energetic when I was, it was lazy when I was. It knew when to comfort me, and it knew when to give me space. 100% would own again. But it's a shame that breeders ask so much for an animal.

Love ours, had her for a week. Never left alone, even quite happily goes on the bus with us on the school run. As we are an older couple in our late 50's her pace is great with us when walking, also she is quite happy to play with our Grandchildren who live with us full-time. I had never thought of having a Cavalier before, as I have always had Springers until our last one died last year ,but our new Cavalier is a nice change of size and pace.

Pleasing to hear ‘tough love’ is an option. I’ve heard far too many dob behaviour professionals says you must always be softly softly. We found that 2 nights of tough love in her crate worked for our Sprocker.

I have owned 3 cockers and they are a wonderful breed and this video is spot on. They love and need exercise, very smart, loyal, friendly and love discipline so plan to train them a lot and absolutely need to keep up with the grooming/brushing that is the only negative I would say. So many people often say look at the puppies even when they are like 8 years old.
