Doe Tractor Plough Day
Просмотров 60 тыс.2 месяца назад
In 1958 Ernest Doe and sons of Ulting, Essex adopted an idea of a local farmer and join two Fordson Major tractors together into a single, high horse power unit capable of working the heavy Essex soils. They went on to build around 300 over a number of years before larger tractors became available in the market place. In this video we wind back the clock to the early 1960's and see how the Doe ...

Well rempstone rally’s Reputation goes before it!! And your video proves what a great event it is. Thanks for the time you put in to bring us these videos👍
Thanks 👍
Excellent video as always 😊😮 Thank you
👍
Another excellent video! What a great collection of engineering masterpieces! Best tractor for me was the iconic Ford 5000, beautifully restored!
Thanks 👍
Very enjoyable vid as always. Impossible to pick a favorite tractor! Watching the wood cutting reminded me of my youth and uncles cutting firewood from a mountain of felled trees which would get smaller and smaller as the days past. Their Fordson Major was originally bought to be used in their small building firm complete with front loader. It then cut silage, got demoted to rolling silage when a John Deere was bought and finished it's days spinning a blade with a belt cutting firewood. I remember the rhythmic click click as the bolts connecting the belt past over the pulleys.
Great memories. Thanks for sharing.
The Chamberlain was my favourite tractor
👍
Excellent video covering a wide range of great exhibits 👍 favourite tractor being biased was the original McCormick International B250, followed by the lovely E27N with the multiple rear wheel weights 💪💪
Thanks 👍
What a great show so much to see ! Favourite tractor will all was be the fordson diesel major ! Great video again great work !
Thanks.
Hello mate the working weekend is at hall farm fincham
I'm away during Fincham so wont make it this year. Hope you have a enjoyable time.
@@Casterton-Vintage ok
I couldn't get there on the sat and had my grey fergie at my local ashby show .so thank you for the views sights and sounds I missed
Glad you enjoyed it.
Back when men were men and boys lost finger's 🙄😳😬👍
The time and finances to take your equipment to a show or demo amazes me .
Best not to think about it too much!
Have you seen mr fen yet? I do believe he is there at the show.
Supar compane sir
What...? You broke a Drive Shaft..?
is that a Foden 6x6?
Great video. Brilliant examples of machinery there… thank you for explaining the details ref the E27N linkages. Keep up the good work.
My grandad hahad a sail reaper at the back of a cart shed My father said he only used once when it was so wet that five suffolks abreast couldn"t pull the binder Women from the village bound the sheeefs by hand According to my dad the hand bound straw was threshed sheef were threshd with a flail on the grannery floor and the straw sold at a premium for thatching That would be about134
That is an interesting story
Not a problem when you got the equipment 🤔💪💪💪
👍
Hello! I'm sure you'll agree that a completely restored machine always looks great. There's nothing better than seeing those lovely patinas on the machines. But, if they're a little worse for wear, it can look a bit shabby. Dents, rust, faded colours and parts missing or damaged (like a radiator grille) can really take away from the overall look.
👍
Very enjoyable vid as always. My thoughts on originality, I'm all for keeping a machine original even if it looks shabby as long as some original paintwork/brightwork remains.
👍
Another great video thanks. thanks for your dedication of filming this in the rain, I would be worried about my camera getting wet. Im looking forward to weeting. Hopefully it will be dryer then
👍
To paint or not to paint? do what ever you want, it your tractor. At one stage of its life it had a shiny finish, there is no reason it should not again, however if you want to wipe it with an oily rag, that's okay too. Some people get too hung up on so called originality.
👍
Excellent video again 👏👏 can understand the benefits of Land Rovers but im sure they were designed for smaller people because i need the window open to get the door shut which lets my shoulders out the window 🙄😬 fantastic turn out of exhibits considering the weather ☔☔☔ 👍
I thought it was just me! 🤣
This show brought back some memories,George Dawson of Bicker traction engine, worked for that company when i first left school in the late sixties.
👍
Great show😊😊😊 Shame about the rain Some great vehicles liked the land rovers and indoor displays Thanks for your time😊😊😊😮
👍
There's just something mesmerising about watching a running steam engine to see all the parts moving and the sound of them. It's almost like they are alive. To see so many of them preserved and kept in working order is great; it must take a lot of time, money, and dedication from their proud owners. Thanks for another excellent video.
They are very hypnotic to watch. Glad you enjoyed it.
Wasn't old Fred dibna the steeple jack big into steam engines.
Yes, he was a great steam engine enthusiast who loved preserving the heritage of the steam-powered era.
Another fine video, shame the weather was not onside for your effort
👍
Such a shame about the weather and I watched a similar video by the cave man himself
👍
You going to weeting steam rally
Yes.
@@Casterton-Vintage ok I’ll see you there I’m taking my Mf 135 multi power that has red back rims with a plough and the Ferguson cultivator you saw at Carrington
You missed out on Rempstone steam rally 2024
Next weeks video 😊
I like restored or unrestored tractors or vehicles. In my mind, some restored pieces are not done to the quality of a professional restore, so I call them a refresh, while they are nicely done refreshes, they are not the quality of a professional restored unit. Just my opinion. One thing I don’t like, is a unrestored or unrefreshed unit that has been painted with clear coat. I don’t like that. Great video again. Thanks for your time to do these and standing out in the rain while doing the video. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
Thanks 👍
Strumpshaw is renowned for wet weather. One year a roller got struck by lightning 🌩.
Pity it rained seems like a great show ! Great video again !
Thanks 👍
Thank you 👍🇬🇧
No problem 👍
The last of the Nuffield 4/65s came with balances in the engine and power steering ,mine does here in New Zealand.
👍
Been waiting since that auction for some footage to come up. I was there on the day and was surprised to see the ploughing engines never sold! Very good, you do fantastic videos
Thanks
This is getting too much! I only subscribed a few days ago and now I can't wait until the next one!😂 These films bring back so many happy memories for me. I wish I had a small farm full of classic equipment like this. A great channel, many thanks!
Thanks for your support. I hope you have watched all my older videos 😉🤣
Great clip you have shot there, Such a sad shame when a lifetime collection has to be sold off,! I bet the collector had many happy times during the 1980s/90s buying in this machinery/equipment" and as time goes by and one gets old and to the stage where it is not getting used or shown" Especially if the younger generation of the family is not interested.!! Many thanks for the posting and hope that most will go to a new owner soon,.
Thanks for the comment. It is a great collection of old machinery and this was only a reduction sale so still plenty more to play with 🤣
My father drove a tractor for an agricultural contractor in the late 1940 and early 1950 the first tractor that I remember was an E27N in about 1954 he had a brand new diesel Major the Reg no was OTT 259.The first Majors were equipped with a short shaft with a square end at the front to which you put a handle with a square hole the idea was to turn the engine over I'm not sure what it was for it was impossible to over come the compressing ,but the engine was equipped with a de-compressing leaver at that time.. *Top tip* when removing the sump ,on each side of the sump in line of the sump setscrews, you will see a square one half of the square is in the engine block the other half is in the sump the two half together form a square and are the size of a 3/4 or 7/8 AF spanner if you fit a spanner on both sides of the engine you are able to remove the setscrews without the sump crashing down ..
Great memories. Thanks for sharing with everyone. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks.
thanks
Was it all from one farm or a collective sale ?
Yes 👍
Another excellent video - some great lots and surprised the Fowlers didn't make the money!
👍
Very interesting video well done!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks.
Fascinating. I live in hope that all types of old machines will keep a value, especially when all of those who remembered those machines in their youth have passed away. I'm not sure if the prices reached were high or low but at least there seems to be plenty of interest! Great vid
👍
Nice Soil
👍
The Thwaite dumper ..with digger ..yep used one very basic and very unstable and very limited to its use ..no wonder they faded away
Thanks for confirming why they were not popular. I'm not surprised!
That was another fantastic video today. Some of the lots brought back memories. We had a Ford 5610 Force 2 four wheel drive with the Super Q cab back in the late 80s. It was one of our loader tractors, and it had a Steelfab 680 drive in loader on it. It was later traded in and a four-wheel drive Ford 6640 SLE and Gray's Lynkon 425 loader replaced it. Some good memories here tonight. Thank you for posting this excellent video..
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.
I know they're not vintage, but the 'stars' of the sale had to be the two Massey classic tractors, with the 2WD MF 390T making £50,000 and the MF 372 4WD with loader making £34,000, both plus 6% buyers premium.
That was a very good price but the tractors were very tidy.
my eye was on the 'gold' little grey fergie. was that a genuine gold fergie ??
@@raymondo162 I think it was genuine.
