Without doubt the best instructional video I have found on here, learnt alot from it.... Your commentary is very helpful and I suggest that if you do another video like this maybe you could go into even more detail.... Thanks
@@Casterton-Vintage I have recently bought a Furguson Tef20 and Furguson plough ready to have a go at some ploughing matches this year. I cant wait to get the plough in the ground and try it out. I work as a tractor driver and have done a lot of ploughing over the years but never had a go at conventional ploughing so the info on the start and finish has really got me thinking👍
A very good video, good detail ,and one of the country`s best ploughman instructing ,spot on.thank you for producing one of the best videos covering the most important points the start and the finish. (JJ)
Thank you for the video. Although I had to utilise all my English skills to comprehend it, I appreciate the effort. The subject matter appears to be quite intricate, with varying ground and weather conditions. However, the riders seem to have an in-depth knowledge of their machines, down to the last screw. They plow more effectively than what is shown in the video. Greetings from Germany
Thanks for the comment. Your English is very good. Sadly I cant manage more than single words in any other language and I struggle with English sometimes 🤣
Great vid, that's me in the yellow snap on coat 😂👍🏻 was a great day. Definitely worth while as we come up from Kent to see how the northern lads do it 👌🏻
Another good one. Take me back to my dad teaching me. First with a trailed plough with the old Fordson . Then a few years later me showing him with our first 3 point linkage 3 furrow plough 😊
Excellent instructive video there 👌 alot of worthwhile information to be gathered, could do with something like that up here 🏴 in each ploughing society area as they are often too far away 😕👍
Cracking vid, as a complete novice the only extra I would like is a bit of commentary on why the ploughmen make seemingly constant adjustments to the ploughs from one end to the other, compared to setting the plough at the start of the furrow and then just driving to the other side. Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed the video. To answer your question, if the furrows don't match properly you need to make some adjustment and when you know one part of the plot ploughs differently to the other, you make sure you adjust to compensate before you see the error 😊😊
I've always felt i should go match ploughing but finding the time is another thing, but i do use all my old tractor's ploughing at home so i sort of get my fix and I'm happy at that. Good video, making my own videos does soke up a lot of time though ❤
Great video thanks for putting the time and effort into posting this, sadly the training days are a bit too far away from me but it’s been good to see how it should be done and hopefully some things I can try to work on for the next matches in autumn 👍🏼
I bought a compact tractor to keep my place clean and to vegetable garden with. With it, I got a single bottom moldboard plow. You want to talk about crooked furrows. Hopefully I’ll get better with time.
Blimey. I never realised there was so much to it. Is there anywhere where you can have trial to see if it’s something you’d want to get into before you buy a tractor etc ?
If there is a suitable event I will try to be there with the camera but the basics are all the same. Probably the biggest difference would be the correct finishing width.
Great video have watched it time and time again, you would have a best seller if you done a 1 to 1 with Richard Ingram and some views from the back of the plough on how he sets it along with his explanations on why he adjust it to get the best results, definitely one of our greatest plough men in my life time 👍
Glad you enjoyed the video. I think Richard will tell you anything you want to know but I didn't want to push the camera any closer! It was great to see him passing on his knowledge.

Thanks. It was a good day. I'm not sure how Richard managed to concentrate that well with all those people crowding round and talking to him.
I think that was one of the best videos you have made . It was great thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!.

Thanks. I don't think my Dad would have taken any notice of me when it came to ploughing! 🤣
Lots of good ploughing and weather looked good just right for ploughing ! Another great video great work by you !

Thank you, great video. There is scope on RUclips for someone to do more ploughing instruction. 👍🏻
Another instruction video coming out tomorrow. Thanks.

You would need to find a helpful ploughman.
I was 13 plowing headlands by finding a landmark at the other end. Never was more than a round off. WD45 Diesel 3-14" mounted. Never an observer.
And now the GPS makes ploughing headlands an exact science rather than a good eye. How times change.
How many inch Richards use on hes blue plow 2×12? The red Ferguson
2 X 10 is where you need to be. What plough are you using?
Could you do one for world style please

Ploughing with MF 35 is the easiest way to lern,i startet with 10 years!

You are right!
Good lord no wonder it takes you English so long to get plowing done lol just kidding great video once again.
Thanks 👍
bout the stupid music if that is what it was...switched off.
