    This story has deeply touched me since my parents put all my siblings and me through swimming classes to prevent us from ever being in a situation similar to yours. We would go once a week, every Wednesday after school and it quickly became my favourite part of the week. I still remember the snap of the swim cap as I squeezed it on top of my mini twists. Years later, my parents pulled us all but my little brother out of swimming to save money. At first, I was devastated. I begged my parents at every opportunity to put me back and as a compromise we all went as a family now and then. However, then I went to secondary school (high school) and none of the blacks girls had mini twists or wore their hair threaded. I was weird, an outcast. I began to excessively blowdry and use heat on my hair. Anything to show that I was not like those other Black girls and that my hair was long. I stopped going swimming and my love for it went away since nothing was more important than having my hair being palatable and liked. Your video and story made me remember how much I used to love swimming and my natural hair and all that I gave up to conform. Thank you so much!!!

    Such wonderful storytelling--and it's so timely for me. I never learned how to swim--I always wanted to when I was a kid, but never had the opportunity to. So, as an adult, I pushed myself to take my first swim class last year. I planned to continue going, but never picked it back up because I didn't know what to do with my hair. Lately I've been thinking about picking it back up and then I saw your video! Definitely a sign for me to continue. Thank you for sharing your story <3

      Yes i seriously recommend it. Such an important life skill that we don't realize how much we need.. until we need it. And hey it might not be us drowning per say - but a loved one. Something to really consider.

    I love this so much! I wish there was more films on type 4 hair, it so beautiful and and very versatile! That's why I'm in school to become a cosmetologist, so that I can learn and teach others on our hair! That doing our hair does not need to feel like a fulltime job, but its a blessing and gift to have a different texture though many people may not understand it. We learn to love it!!!

    • @KelsiasDiary
      @KelsiasDiary 8 часов назад

      yes it really doesn't need to be a full time job. I think it also comes with us liking styles that don't force us to fight with our hair for hours i.e mini twist ,braided bald head, locks etc. i've noticed a lot more people getting into traditional african hair styles and moving away from styles that take very long or cost us our edges.

    This was beautiful... I have two beautiful daughters that begged me all summer to swim. I was torn because it takes forever to wash and detangle, so I often said no. I’m brought to tears just knowing that I missed out on so many opportunities to teach them to swim. Next summer we are in there! Do you have any recommendations for swim caps for black girls with big hair? ❤❤❤ beautiful story. Can’t wait to share with my girls!

    27 is perfect age to get married. I think people need to stop infantile people in their mid to late 20s that’s good age for marriage you can enjoy each other first before children. You get married in your 30s not much time to have children if you want it naturally. Also do many couples in 30s have infertility problems. Get married at late 20s is very very normal all over the word!!!

    about a year ago, I let my friends mom do my hair and she literally burnt it off. It’s been a year and it’s still breaking off and falling out. My mom’s been doing more natural styles to help with the breakage but I’m so used to straightening my hair or wearing braids things like that. I’m not comfortable with the way my hair shrinks up when it’s wet instead of laying down and being big and bouncy just yet but watching someone with kinks and coils like me really helps a lot. Thank you for giving young girls like me reasons to love themselves and someone to relate to.🩷

    Whats crazy is your hair at the end is soooo beautiful and it seems like all you fidget was wash brush and comb it with very little product used at all. As a white man with a black girlfriend i wish she would just love her hair as i do and let it be and not attack it with dies and wigs and lots of chemicals i want her to wash brush and comb

    I love your honesty. before the natural hair movement, we didn’t love our hair. We were taught to hate our hair. Relaxers and Jerry curls were the thing to do. Yes, I’m an older woman… Jerry curl era lol. I remember all my hair fell out trying the “do it at home” version. I stop relaxing my hair 20 years ago and inspired my daughter to do the same. I love your vulnerability… young black girls need this. Keep doing what you’re doing! I don’t know you but I’m proud of you!

    Yes, we as women all support Demi and believe she is beautiful inside and out. However, we really need to call things for what they are…it keeps people accountable. I def believe that Ollie’s commentary surrounding Demi was almost 100% driven by self-preservation. Not by attraction to her. He knows that he would’ve been eaten alive like Sam or Shake had he verbally expressed anything less than positive about Demi’s body type. I don’t think he thinks she’s ugly, but his actions (or, lack thereof) and body language showed that he simply wasn’t into her. That is not how a man acts when he’s attracted to a woman…he treated her like a platonic homie. And I know that his rhetoric surrounding his interest in her would’ve skewed alot more “bro-y” and less kind had this not been a mic’d, televised show. Ppl’s behaviors will always supercede what comes out of their mouths, for me.

As a 12 year girl that went natural last year I alway thought the loser it is the better and i would pray and beg god for a loser hair type so I started searching people with my hair type so I started trying to embrace my hair over the summer. So I try to do hairstyles and it just would'nt work.... Trust me sometimes i feel a little cute with my natural hair. Anyways one time I wore this one hair extension which looked my real l hair like the coily extension ( if you know what I mean) and While i had that on I got that, That pretty previlige so I taugh that if I grew my hair out I would be more beautiful and now i waiting to see what happens to m hair love, RUclips wiewer...

How were you able to find housing in rural Colombia? I would assume they don't typically have airbnbs or FB ads right? Also what rural areas do you recommend for people that depend on wifi to work?
