Btw what makes those engines so different from Unity,Godot,unreal engine and the rest of the engines ?
Mostly being able to utilize blenders features to build games. I would say other engines like unity do have an advantage in a few ways. Since they have been developed specifically for games over the last 20ish years. And other engines have way more money and man power behind them to roll out constant updates. This also leads to corruption like we have seen recently. These forks of bge are not very well funded, and are primarily user supported. And features are the result of talented community members that use their time to better the engine. I could probably go on for a while.
@@loxaevion I see but does it they are still behind when it comes to features or are they at that level to compete with other engine?
Good stream man. Can I request a vid or stream on cameras like in og silent hill? I get how to switch the cameras using triggers but how do I make them track and follow a short path thats not animation based. I can link to a video of a guy taking apart SH and the cameras are attached to planes(and cubes for more complex camera paths) but I dont have the skills to implement into upbge. Thanks alot and keep up the good work

hey man, I don't get the part that is like parent the camera to the object, you just get a camera out of nowhere.
shift + D to add a new camera. then parent it to the object.

I'm looking for a way to load/unload any .wav file into a music visualizer I'm building. I may even gamify it, think Rezz but I might just do a standalone visualizer first because I see very few options with the sort of functionality that I'm looking for and far fewer in 3d. I'm not new to Blander by any means but I'm learning UPBGE for the first time because eff Godot. Hmm, I think I'm following the correct set of breadcrumbs though, it seems like there is a lot I can use that actually has to do with menu navigation.
Im on linux and using upbge. Can it export to play on linux? It seems to only put out an exe that I cant open
it should and I have heard of people exporting for linux. but I don't know much about myself. it might be a good questing for the upbge discord.

Actually interesting, i knew that the blender game engine was discontinued, had no idea of the alternatives. I also heard that some use Blender as the GUI for bevvy framework

Yes there is, you can bake everything as a texture.

How are you doing the post processing?
I use the compositor to add my post processing. I find that it also gets a little better performance then the eevee effects.
@@loxaevion And how do you activate the compositor? In the Compositor I've added a Lens Distortion but it is not shown on the game.
You have to use a viewer node in the compositor windows. Just delete the render output node for the game engine. Then where you select the render type on the right side hit the drop down and select always. The Vulkan rendering (even if its still expentimental) in Blender 4.3/UPBGE 0.43 is already giving very promising results !
I don't like too much learning a programing language too, but dammn! really is satisfiying when your code starts making things in the game.
I agree! Ive been taking some time to script in a couple languages and after making some small games I found rhat it can be very enjoyable.
I tried using Armory3D. But game preview taking several seconds drove me crazy. So I went back to UPBGE.
I get that, being used to intant play testing from upbge can make other engines feel like a slog to play test.
I tested Armory here (Linux build), it seems that a lot of things are working in Blender 4.2. I just tested in 4.2 the archery and tanks_nodes examples, they are broken. It seems that the examples that use logic nodes have more issues. But this could be because they were made over 2 years ago and are not optimized for this new version of Armory.
2:11 What do they mean by "Built-In Online"? Do they mean like the ability to add multiplayer and other online things? *I MUST LEARN MORE*
yes, I believe that's what it is. upbge and armory both have versions of this. and I think I may have saw something for range in the past. but this would mean it could be a full version of online capability. I am very interested to see what they do.

I tried using Armory3D, but the time it takes to launch the preview window each time is sooo long. Makes fine-tuning your logic nodes a hassle.
I agree, but after using unity and godot this is something I got used to. this is just the trade off for using a compiled language. armory does have a Realtime modification option to make updating or testing logic faster. but I found that it has its own issues at times. I do plan to make a game in it at some point though.

I dont really lnow why. But you might make sure that the logic is applied in the dashboard tab. Then if it still doesn't work you may need to update your logic nodes.

I don't have the project in a playable state. I moved and the project got shelved. I am currently working on the Pt game right now but I may take a short break to get working on the crystalis project. I have a ton done so I just need to put the parts together. I also learned some new techniques that will help a ton on this. I will make an announcement when it's ready to play.

@@ROCKSMASHER its a pretty easy engine to try out. And if you already know the tools blender uses then you will find its quite easy to start.

Lol it kind of is now since the blender team removed the blender game engine a few years ago. But the community has been continuing the development.

this really looks great man!
One small crit: the footsteps don't match the distance travelled, and camera bob looks like it's more on waves, so you'll get people feeling sea sick, a few games have that cut right down, and as an option you can disable all together, or minimise in settings as people report that effect from camera bob like this.

@@loxaevion The rest looks just like the original. If you're going to release it, just a suggestion: Did you consider making it a flipped PT layout maybe, so you don't get sued? Make it inverted so that you walk around anti-clock-wise instead of clock-wise? That would really make it so that people's pattern recognition gets messed with. You could even have an opening as an automated camera running into a mirror on the wall, breaking the mirror and the scene blacking out as you reach the floor, to wake up in your anti-PT maybe. Like I say, that's just a suggestion there. I'm sure fans would love it either way.
thank you, and Im not to worried about getting sued. its been a couple years since I have seen PT and im not doing any research. I do like the idea. I wanted to make an intro to the game that the player is there to check out the house but gets stuck in an infinite. then the player will need to find a way to escape by progressing and solving some kind of mystery about the building and its previous inhabitants.
