Havent used any widebois bc I like the reach of elongated but, man this looks like a ton of fun. I just bought my friend the Gladius Centurion after a bunch of research. He came from tennis but relatively new to pb and plays singles. For an 'entry' level power paddle it checks all the boxes at a crazy low price.
Yeah, that one is a great price!
Currently use the Apollo as my main paddle, but I recently received the Olympus and I'm bouncing back and forth between the two. Would love to see what you think of it, because I'm honestly impressed. Can't go wrong with anything Spartus makes tbh

Is this the first edgeless kevlar on the market? Think they have something here, but would need some marketing/ word of mouth to reach the larger audience or it would get lost in the trend of power offerings nowadays
I think it might have been the first. Not sure it’s the only one at this point. However, the company owner was one of the founders of six zero and is a pro pickleball player, and the playability of her entire line is pretty remarkable. I think that’s the real differentiator. If the bigger reviewers ever start talking about Standout, I think there will be a rush for their paddles. But the bigger RUclipsrs are pretty entrenched with six zero, so not sure how motivated they are to try the new company. 🤷🏻♂️

Curious your thoughts on 14mm vs 16mm paddles. Are 14mm going away since 16mm are getting so powerful?
Great question! I know some people that like the maneuverability of the 14 vs 16mm thermoformed. I’m thinking of the 11six24 paddles in particular. For me, I never found a 14mm thermoformed I loved until trying out the new thermoformed paddle from TMPR. (Review coming soon!) For thermoformed, I typically like 16mm and then if I go thin, I want 13mm. 14mm feedback is generally a little too harsh for my liking.

Fat Boy review coming soon, but I’d say the pop is pretty comparable with potentially a slight edge/more pop going to the Apollo. Might have more to do with the bigger sweetspot, though.

Love my Apollo! Would love another to replace this one as I use it so much!! Mine is up to a 9+ TW with two 4” strips of Tungsten on each side and hits hard. The only answer is to review the Spartus Olympus next 🔥 🔥 🔥
