I want to hold off talking about the differences with Kevlar for a beat. I have some mixed feelings with that surface and need to do some more testing to be able to speak broadly about it. As for space for a two-handed backhand on the J3, I personally think there’s plenty. You’ll probs have to put your index on the face, but that’s with almost all paddles that don’t have super long handles. Hope that helps!

The J3 will be more of a defensive paddle than the J2--just because of the shape. As for the Vatic Prism, I haven't played with that line too much. I was comparing the J3 to the non-Prism version of the Vatic Pro Flash. All the paddles mentioned here would be great ones since you have some background in paddle sports. If I was in your position, I would consider the J2 or, if you want some more "pop" off the paddle face, the J2H. That's just based off the specs/design. I'll know more once I test them out!

For a standard paddle sw117 is off the charts. The reason for a standard is fast hands, 117 is a hybrid and elongated paddle.
Some people want that power with the non-elongated shape. But won’t be for everyone!

I haven’t played with the Mach 2 just yet, but will be working on a review of both the 14 and 16mm versions soon. Stay tuned!
