The infamous Wells Gardner D9200. This monitor is typically found in newer Golden Tee and Silver Strike Bowling machines that haven't been converted to LCD. They are both standard and medium resolution, are considered "digital" CRTs and are pure evil. In this video we're going to replace the capacitors and B trying to get this monitor working a bit better. For future reference to the poor souls...

Thanks for watching the 4th and final chapter of the Sanyo 20EZ rebuild. Special thanks to Buffett over on the KLOV forums. Dude is THE monitor guy and helped me out a ton here. Part three of the Sanyo 20EZ arcade monitor rebuild. This monitor is typically found in Nintendo arcade games. I believe this bad boy was hooked up to standard power, which is a no no. So far we've replaced the flyback, B cap, HOT and done a capacitor kit. In this video I'll show you how to wire up the transformer and ultimately be disappointed!

when you bolt it up to your cabinet do you have to realign the panel to where it meets up with the cabinet?
I have this fuse burned and i m gonna bridge it but i have another fuse burned the first from the 20s what should i do with this?
Tried to reshell a dual shock 2 before.. it was a mess, I smashed the new shell in my hands out of pure anger
Can I keep my PS1 the same way you did in the video? Because I see that my controller port started working after removing fuse 15. I did solder them like you did, so is it safe to leave it without the fuse or not?
Thank you very much for your assistance. With your help, I was able to successfully repair my old PS1. 😊
Did you end up putting the number 15 fuse or just left a solder join to make continuity, i’d really like to know cause I just took the fuse out of mine and was wondering how long it’ll last without it or if it really needs it
I have two SCPH-1200 ps1 controllers. When plugged into PS1, the red light won’t come on and the controllers just won’t work. However, if I plug those controllers into my PS2 console, they work and the red light comes on… The little ps1 controllers that don’t have analog sticks work just fine on my PS1, but my PS1 just won’t allow for analog/dual shock (stick) controllers. Any tips or advice to fix this is appreciated.
Not bad $10.00 good deal
Good video. I’m currently restoring a mk2 cabinet How’s your game doing ?
Still runs like a champ! The Polo has held up exceptionally well.
@@SunkenCanoeArcade great job 👏
Thanks a lot for this video! I have one PS1 with the same version of the PS1 that you showed in the video. I removed the fuse made the bridge and worked properly. In the next week, I'll buy the fuse to make the repair, but I can play on the weekend! Regards from Brasil!
They always had the best picture in my opinion
I just got a model 5501 today for $10. The only thing that is not working is its not detecting a memory card (original ps1 memory card, pins cleaned along with port pins cleaned). Everything else works! Controller and vibration works an its a 3rd party ps2 controller. I also have a model 7501 and the memory card is detected on there along with my PS2 Slim. The pins dont seem bent at all and are rather clean! Cant seem to figure it out on the model 5501 nor can i find any information on this really lol.. If anyone has advice just lmk!
I have the exact same problem, in my case the Ps605 fuse was the proplem. I also bought it with a third party controller. It is possibel that they caused the fuse to blow. If it is not that one try the other Ps601- 604 fuses.
That's not a dual analogue controller, it's a dual shock.
The OEM PS1 dual shock controllers were really well made compared to the equivalent controllers for the PS2 and PS3
My ps1 controller analog light stays on and wont turn off and it drifts the right abd its meant to be a refurbished one but had it a few months now dont know how to stop it only unplug it the back it but few seconds again does the same
Gotta tear them apart and clean them. Sounds like something stuck in the rubber happens alot done a bunch myself
@@Scorpionluva whats the easiest way to clean them?
@rossyeoman717 Hardest part is getting it all back in the right places all at once. I just used paper towels slightly damp with dawn dish soap to clean all the rubber and plastic once all the electronic stuff is out of the way. Worked like brand new broken in feel afterwards. My brother has 3 he needs me to do because I've done so many already.
Does it apply with a 9001?
Did you ever figure out the issue? I've got a D9200 in a cabinet that I just picked up that is doing the exact same thing. I was looking up some basic troubleshooting info and came across your video. During most gameplay it's not noticeable, but on a static screen/level you can see it pulsating just like yours was/is.
This is awesome, thanks for the advice, sure enough that little "15" fuse is blown in my 7501. Odd because it just crapped out mid play with no particular reason I can think of. I also find it hilarious that you use the same test game that I do: Trilogy is the best way to test all buttons quickly!
I got myself an original Dual Shock controller for PS1 a couple of days ago in mint condition! The controller looks and feels absolutely brand new. I got it for 20 bucks with shipping. But of course: the left stick somehow is a little bit loose and travels a little bit downwards. :/ Don't know how that is possible, since this thing was never used.
Hey, can I send my PlayStation 1 to ya, so you can fix its controller port, too?
I could say someone got mad at mk4 but idk if that offered analog compatibility
Good thinking with a battery holder instead of a permanent fit so you can replace the batteries easier in the future.
This isn't Dual Analog (SCPH-1180), but common DualShock controller.
1150 had dualshock?
@@ffs_999 Yes.
@@ffs_9991150 had vibration but it’s still not the same controller as a “DualShock” at all
The title of this vid is a misnomer, this is actually a normal DualShock controller, not the earlier and rare Dual Analog controller.
Which I would actually like a video on RUclips for because I have one I got at auction and the sticks don't work!
Dual analog had rumble ?(what is difference with dualshock)
@@ffs_999The Japanese release of the Dual Analog had rumble. The rest of the world got it without rumble
This saved me 🙏
Hi there!! I have a problem with a DualShock controller, the analog turns off by itself after a few seconds sometimes instantly. All the buttons seem to work and when testing rumble seem to work, but again analog and vibration will stop working after a bit, any ideas? Thanks!!
I have the same problem in one controller
Any answers ? My controllers spazz out no matter the port or controller
I have the 1001 version but one i found the ps605 fuse i was able to mend the controller and mem card ports. Thank you for posting this
That's awesome! Keep those PSX running!
Great work, I love Dreamcast also
Thank you for the much needed information. Mine was the PS602 and the board is bit different and that fixed the controller port i found an odd ball fuse .25 amp fuse and voila.
I have the same problem but I think my PS One SCPH-101 is dead for good. I tested all the fuses (that I could find), I don't know much about electronics, so I tried to locate them using the service manual diagram (Mobo PM-41-71). I tested the fuses FB 117, FB 123, FB119, FB118, FB122, FB124, FB121 and FB120. I don't have the courage to throw it away because it was a gift from my mother.
They didnt win the super bowl
My brother just got a 5501 in the mail with broken controller ports. Haven't looked at it yet but I was supposed to install PS1Digital on it. He tells me that it doesn't work even with another set of controller ports from another console.
Fuses and flex cable are most likely candidates. Good luck!
@@SunkenCanoeArcade Just walked him through it on the phone and verified it was the fuse. :) Read one of your comments that it's 750mA but, unlike the picture on GameSX that says 0.7A, mine says "15." Thanks for the info!
@Dominic Duenas To update: We did replace the fuse and install PS1Digital, which worked great, but then we took a direct hit from an EF-4 tornado while I was working on a PS1Digital audio bypass. I was booting the PS1Digital with my audio bypass for the first time when the power went out and we were literally inside the tornado less than a minute later. The last thing in my phone’s camera roll before the recording of us being hit by the tornado was working on the bypass board/PlayStation. Never got back to it after that (still recovering). :(
@Dominic Duenas If you want to get your feet wet, a fuse replacement is a good way to start. :) Heck, you could even just bridge it but then whatever caused it to blow could damage something more important next time. I got my replacement fuse from a junk PlayStation that wasn’t suitable for the work I was doing (wrong model) but if you don’t have one then Console5 sells them for $0.79. It is relatively large and easy to solder for a surface mount component but it may be difficult to avoid surrounding components. It may be easier to just attach a fuse with leads/wires since you wouldn’t even have to remove the original.
thank you so much!! it worked for my scph 9002 too ♥
I am amazed this worked for me. Thanks..
Awesome! Get you MK Trilogy on.
Hello! I have a mtc 90 in my cab and the image got jittery and has vertical stripes after moving the cab to another loaction. Do you have any hints on what I could look for? I'm by no means an electrician but I know the settings on the (very fiddly) chassis. The capacitors all look fine from a glance. Hopefully you can point me in the right direction. Maybe something came lose...? Btw. Its an old Zaccaria Galaxian. Could it be the Namco PCB?
Hello! Thanks for the video. By following your tutorial, I found two fuses that do not work, a 15 and 20. Do you know the reference of these fuses to replace?
Not off the top of my head but you should be able to find schematics for the board online easily.
@@SunkenCanoeArcade Thank you for your advice. After research I found diagrams and the right reference.
How much mA fuse did you use?
well the fuse is marked 15, so I would assume 15 mA? I just did the solder bridge. Probably wont bother with a replacement fuse.
I used a 750mA resettable fuse in a 1210 package.
@@SunkenCanoeArcade Hello! Sorry to bother but I have the same problem. Do you by chance have a link to a page where I could purchase the replacement fuse?
@@jgs4290 This is the one I used: 1210L075/24PR
that didn't help me
Worked for me...Fortunately for you, ps1's are dirt cheap. I recommend buying another one.
This was my monitor lol. Are you still doing cap kits for people?
Sure am! Also doing hot air rework and console repairs and mods. Glad you're still working on them. My Ms. Pac is still kicking. Still my favorite game.
@@SunkenCanoeArcade awesome!! I got a bunch of monitors that need caps lol! I can make the cabinets look presentable but suck at caps.

@@SunkenCanoeArcade Thanks. I will.
Hello sir from Greece, I have the following problem, instead of putting the ps1 charger I put the ps2 by mistake and the Playstation's fuse or resistor probably burned out, of course it does not open at all I opened the lid and it smelled burnt, does anyone know to tell me what spare part I need?? Please HELP!! haha
On most of the PSOne boards there is a fuse inline with the power rail labeled PS600. Look up your board # on console5 and there is a schematic for the voltage section of the board: console5.com/wiki/Playstation They sell the fuses that you'll need to get your PSOne back up and running.
Where did you purchase the art work from?
boostin4hp on the KLOV forums.
I thought the Polo 25 didn't require an isolation transformer. Mine has a sticker on the tube that says it's not required. Of course, mine's not working either, so....
I don't believe the Polo *NEEDS* one, but it won't hurt in having one. The cabinet I put this in already had one, so I let it be.
What's the name of the device you are using to power up and test the monitor?
Hey David. So there are two different things at work here. To power the monitor I actually use an old Nintendo arcade isolation transformer. It is 100v so it will work with the old Nintendo monitors without doing damage as well as newer 115v monitors. I had to build this myself with some different common connectors for monitors. The thing I'm testing the monitor with is called the TPG. It was made by a fellow named CraftyMech and I think it's a must have if you're working on arcade monitors. You can get a new transformer and the TPG at arcadepartsandrepair.com I have no affiliation with them, but have bought parts from them numerous times and they are great. Good luck!
Did you figure out why the image was backwards?
I did actually! I had the yoke wires backwards. Easy mistake!
Sunken Canoe Arcade for sure! Thanks for sharing. My Sanyo 20ez does the same thing after being on for an hour but when I shut it off and turn it back on it seems fine. I think my monitor has the same issue where I need to reflow those joints. I will be putting in a cap kit and flyback in the coming weeks so I’ll give it a whirl.
@@jasonscott4525 I would for sure do the cap kit, but maybe wait on the flyback. The policy back when I was doing mine was to leave them be unless they die. Just make sure to set your B+ once you finish up.
Ok I know it's been a long time since you posted this, I am in an extremely similar situation. I bought a mk3 Cab and it has a 25 inch Hantarex Polo in it that didn't work. I ordered a cap kit and had ran into the same problems as you the cap kit was incorrect. I have since learned that the models you and I have are black sheep. I have watched your videos and I can't nail down what caps you replaced from the kit and with which caps. If you could remember please let me know, I would appreciate it so much. C144 is the only one I know for sure needs replaced.
Cool to see a fellow Minnesotan arcade enthusiast. Nice setup you've got there!
Forgive the naive question, but aren’t these Hantarex Polo chassis 15khz only? And you replaced it with a WG k7500 which is EGA? Does Blitz support both?
Not naive at all. So Blitz has a jumper that you can solder on it to switch from standard to medium. Sorry this is so late!
and you made the plexiglass panel or does it already exist specifically for mortal kombat?
where did you get the torx security screws what did you write ?? the measure??
Could you tell me what resistor is at TP31 mine burnt up
