    Sid and Rusty carried on where Jake left off, but the trade sparked the second line, gave the first line some support, what do you know, the other 2 lines decided to chip in and the team goes on a run, a little too late boys. Now for the trades, Dubas picked up players with solid backgrounds and they didn't perform up to contract level, that's on them, extending Jarry was a risk based on his history, that's on Jarry to fix that, the ability is there but he and Ned had to save this team on more than one occasion. The PP stunk as we all know, how many games lost there? The Jake trade was a win in my book I think it was done too late though but the point was to give the team as much time as possible to fix themselves, that's on everyone, from the top down. (minus a few that did perform)

    If you would have told me that the pens could get karlsson AND lose petry, rutta and granlund's contracts and not have to give up a top prospect, i would not have believed it and i was pleasantly surprised by Ned's performance this year. I liked the ludvig pick up but not the harkins pick up. And Puljujarvi for 2 years at $800k? another win. The smith trade looked like a win at the beginning of the year. The nieto, acciari and graves signings are not great. I think Smith gets moved along with nieto. But would a team like Utah take on Graves contract? They dont have 1 defenseman signed and they have $45m in cap space.

      Dubas prioritized prospects over picks. Wanted to have young guys that could contribute soon. Any pick late in the first round would likely be 2+ years off. I agree it would've been great, but just wasn't priority 1 in Dubas' eyes

    • @trehartley1142
      @trehartley1142 5 часов назад

      If they sign Jake to a new contract you can't say we won this trade. Carolina even tho a competitive team also has one of the better farm systems in the league and we got none of the best players from it. You could make the argument the players we got back won't be ready to contribute for a couple years as well. I love Bunting and glad he was part of the trade but he was having a down year in Carolina and they needed to get rid of him as he wasn't a fit for them and they didint like his 4.5 million on the books for the next couple years. Not hating on the prospects I hope they work out but only getting a late 2nd back and 3 of the middle tier prospects while also missing the playoffs for Guentzel doesn't really sound like a win for us.

    • @InsideThePenguins
      @InsideThePenguins 5 часов назад

      You can't include any extension as part of this though. I wasn't a factor in the return. If Dubas couldn't use it as leverage then it shouldn't be a factor in judging his return.

    • @christopherharte4741
      @christopherharte4741 4 часа назад

      @@trehartley1142 late 2nd? It's a early middle second. We got 3 prospects that are a lot better than almost everything we had coming minus Yager, maybe Pickering. Blomqvist bombed in playoffs, but can't blame him when you put a whole litter of new players on a team that haven't played together all year. Then you got Bunting with a good contract worth the money. What did Carolina get? A rental who is leaving and no cup, Carolina has too many contracts to renew, they won't be able to afford him. Carolina 1 Ty Smith - pittsburgh 3 prospects 1 bunting and 1 2nd round pick. How is that not the biggest win possible in a trade? And I love Jake but I rather he go somewhere else, Sid gets a blank check and we can use the money that would go to Jake on fixing stuff

    Should they not just trade away all their draft picks for the remaining years that Crosby is there? Need NHL proven players now, we don’t have time to develop players and waste Crosby’s last years. Then when Crosby retires we go back to developing players….maybe have a bad year and get a good chance at 1st round pick. Idk if it’s good that they went on that streak this year and lost this years 1st rd pick (although they would had chance at lottery draft being like 7th worst if they would kept losing), but now they have next years 1st rd pick instead of keeping this years cause deal was if they finished 12th or better they lose this years 1st rd, if they’d finish in bottom 11th or worse they would kept this years and gave up next years.

Does he have the ability to play with Sid and Geno, yes..but is he the answer for Jake Guentzels missing production, no. Rakell will likely have a bounce back year and he could fill a top 6 role. Brandon Tanev on a 1 year deal at $3.5 AAV sounds real good. ERod = Bye Felicia.

    Trade Reilly Smith to the Avs for Valeri Nichushkin. Kevin Stevens can watch over VN. Kevin Stevens and VN are both big power wingers. Hire Kevin Stevens so he can keep VN on the straight and narrow as an 82 game big brother. Trade Reilly Smith to the Bruins for UFA Jake Debrusk.

    Hopefully they'll get a 3rd back or a better fitting player for Smith. If unable to trade Graves hopefully he can have a more productive year

    I made a few armchair GM posts on cap friendly sending smith to buffalo for the same reasons you stated and for some reason buffalo fans hate him

    With Edmonton starting Pickard tonight, it shows they are not sold on their goaltenders and if they dont get to the finals, they may be a good trade partner for Jarry in the off season. He played for the Oil Kings from 2011-2015.

    how does puljujarvi sit so they can play harkins or bemstrom? I do not get that

      I think they are satisfied with puljijarvi and they sat him to check out others. They signed puljijarvi to a two year contract for next to nothing. Bemstrom is a RFA, they needed to find out if it's worth keeping him or letting him walk

    I would like to see guys a like a yanni gourde as 3c can pk n has a gritty physical pest element n moving Eler to 4th would be really good for us. Eler has been great but would just add that depth I would also like to see doc in the bottom 6 for bottom 6 scoring and adding another elite top 6 winger

      Even guys like Lafferty would be good additions. If Sam Bennet some how becomes available as a cap casualty I would be all over it

    Smith was a bust. I thought maybe he had the Stanley Cup hangover but he was actually most productive the first part of the season. Geno loved Zucker and Zucker came to fight for Geno every single game.

    I don’t think Sullivan likes Rodrigues. The way he looked at him in that Rangers series after ERod got boarded with no call & then he turned around and finished his check on Lindgren & he got called for a roughing (retaliation) which led to a Ranger PP goal. Need to build a team that is harder to play against, some grit & guts & ready to just “make the playoffs”. This franchise & fan base has lowered the bar here in recent years, it’s quite annoying. FAs i’d like to see Penguins try & acquire. Chandler Stephenson, Anthony Duclair, Oliver Kylington, Brett Pesce, Jalen Chatfield, Dakota Joshua, AJ Greer, Sam Lafferty (i knew Hextall was out of his mind when he traded him for Alex Nylander). I also wish there was a way to trade EK.

    will be celebrating once he's gone...one of the three biggest reasons we missed the playoffs (Smith, Graves, Todd R)
