Epic Overlanding Adventure | Lebombo Eco Trail | Kruger National Park
We recently spent a week traveling the Lebombo Eco Trail, up the eastern edge of the Kruger National Park, along the South African / Mozambican border.
The Lebombo Eco Trail is a 5 day, off-road adventure, starting at Crocodile Bridge Rest Camp in the south of the KNP, and ending at Pafuri Picnic Site, in the far north of the park.
Experienced, professional guides act as trail leaders and regularly interpret the various ecozones, flora, and fauna seen on the trail.
Although it is not strictly speaking a 4×4 challenge, road conditions vary from reasonably good to a few places with steep and rocky inclines and muddy patches, where engaging 4H (and sometimes even 4L) is extremely useful. Good o...

We would likely have to build it over 2 (possibly 3) weekends (my partner and I both have regular jobs, and as this is a sideline, we can only work over weekends). It is a custom build, so would need your vehicle to ensure a proper fit. We would have to buy all of the components upfront, meaning we need a deposit, and total price would be R15,000. As it is a custom build we can design it with any unique requirements you might have.

I personally haven’t had any issues with my Ranger. I also have the 2.0 bi-turbo engine. I sometimes tow my Metalian trailer on trips and So far I’ve not had a problem with reliability. Check out Jason from Epic Africa’s page. He was driving the 2.0 bi-turbo Raptor for a while and he did a number of Kgalagadi trips whilst towing a Bush Lapa caravan, so I am sure you won’t have any issues with reliability.

Howzit. No, the starter battery and the battery in the NL DC25 don’t have to be the same. I have a 100Ah dry cell battery in the DC25 (it can also take lithium). Not sure what my starter battery is to be honest. But the DC25 is wired to the starter battery and alternator via an under-chassis wiring harness, so it charges while driving.

Lucky lion sighting. We have had a few visits where we see no cats, and then at other times we see them around every corner. Thanks for sharing your trip. Can’t wait to get out there again

It’s all luck of the draw! Sometimes you get lucky, other times not. We’d spend 6 days in the park prior to this sighting not seeing any cats - and got treated with a lekker sighting on our way out 😊
