  • We are on a 6 day epic overlanding trip through the Kruger National Park, in South Africa.
    Entering the park in the far north through Pafuri Gate, we are making our way down south, stopping overnight at Punda Maria, Shingwedzi, Tsendze, Letaba, Balule, and Satara.
    In this, the last episode of the three part video series, we focus on the areas around Olifants Rest Camp, Balule Rustic Camp, and Satara Rest Camp.
    Located near Olifants Rest Camp, Balule is an offgrid campsite situated on the banks of the Olifants River and is where we spend night 5 of our 6 night overlanding trip. Balule is a satellite camp to Olifants Rest Camp, which sits 100 meters above the Olifants River and offers one of the best panoramic views of the surrounding area. They have an amazing viewing deck, where one can sit, eat a meal, enjoy a cold beverage, and take in the beauty of the Olifants River valley. Whilst there is less game in this area than in other parts of the park, there is huge diversity including lion, leopard, elephant, wild dog, and an abundance of birdlife. The Olifants River also has the largest population of crocodile in the Kruger Park.
    From Balule we continue our southward journey spending our last night at Satara Rest Camp. Established in 1928, Satara is situated in one of the best game-viewing areas of the Kruger Park. It is surrounded by fertile plains that attract many grazers, making it ideal for big cats and other predators. Satara is lion country!
    Join us on our epic roadtrip through the Kruger National Park.
    All footage in this video was shot on a Canon EOS R mirrorless camera system, with an RF 24-105 f4 L series lens, an RF 14-35 f4 L series lens, a Simga 150-600 Contemporary series lens, a Garmin Hero 7 Black, a Garmin Hero 11 Black, and an Apple iPhone 14 Pro.
    My vehicle is a Ford Ranger Wildtrak (Thunder Edition) 2.0l bi-turbo diesel, fitted with a Front Runner Slimline II rack over the load bed, a Front Runner SlimSport rack on the roof, and a Front Runner Roof Top Tent.
    For power I use a National Luna DC25 battery pack which is wired into my vehicle for charging whilst driving, and a solar panel for charging whilst in camp. I have a Dometic CFX 35 litre fridge, which runs off the National Luna DC25.
    I also use a Jackery 200w Solar Power Station for charging cellphones, camera batteries etc.
    Power for the batteries comes courtesy of a 100W Jackery solar panel.
    I am not sponsored by any of the above brands.

    Lucky lion sighting. We have had a few visits where we see no cats, and then at other times we see them around every corner.
    Thanks for sharing your trip. Can’t wait to get out there again

      It’s all luck of the draw! Sometimes you get lucky, other times not. We’d spend 6 days in the park prior to this sighting not seeing any cats - and got treated with a lekker sighting on our way out 😊

    What happened to that wildebeest? Did you guys left before it gave birth or it went deep into the bushes

    • @CampSeekerAfrica
      @CampSeekerAfrica  4 месяца назад +1

      Both actually 😊 The herd moved off so we couldn’t see them anymore, but we chatted to a ranger about it at the next camp and he said a birth can take hours, so we likely wouldn’t have seen it anyway before we had to move on. We had sat there for about 45 minutes watching her and nothing much changed in that time before the herd moved off.
