@@CampSeekerAfrica been looking for off the shelf solutions but nothing suits my needs. Looking forward to getting stuck into it. Will be fitting a Redarc unit for an auxiliary battery at some point as well so will make a power distribution panel as well. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Off the shelf didn’t work for me either as I have a roller shutter on the back of the bakkie so I was limited by the height of my fridge, so the custom build was the best option.
Great Job Mate! Hope you don't mind if I copy you. I love that you didn't put any holes in the tub. I'm a chippy too (assuming you're a carpenter watching you work) so I'll have fun with this. Only thing I'd change is maybe I'll use marine ply or formwork ply...Where did you get your power supply from in the back left corner? Don't suppose you have a video on that?
@@Stonezster Thanks pal, appreciate the comments. I am actually not a woodworker, but my mate is and so it was mostly his skills you are seeing in the video. We designed it together and he helped me build it. I didn’t want to drill into the tub to secure it, and luckily the weight of it when loaded keeps it in place nicely. The power supply? You mean the green National Luna battery box? I got it from Front Runner, but you can also find them at 4x4 Megaworld or from National Luna directly. I don’t have a video on it specifically, but I did cover it briefly in my vehicle rig walk around video. It is very handy and coupled with a solar panel, it suits my needs. Thanks for the support. Appreciate it! 😊
@@CampSeekerAfrica Yeah, I watched that vehicle rig walk around after sending the last comment. I'll have to look around and see what's out there similar. I picked up my new Wildtrak last week (Fully paid for by Bitcoin profits) and caught covid while buying it. So, I haven't even driven it yet, haha. Looking forward to taking a trip around Australia after modifying a few things. Starting with your fit out...Cheers mate...
It is the factory fitted roller shutter. It is pretty water proof. I haven’t had any major issues with water getting in to be honest (or dust for that matter), and I have driven around and parked in some proper rain storms.
Looks great! How did you attach the wood to the liner so that it doesn’t tilt up when you pull the drawers out all the way? Like how did you anchor it?
Hi. I actually didn’t anchor it into the loadbed. The weight is sufficient to hold it down, even with the slide extended - it doesn’t tilt up. I could have drilled into the bottom of the tub and anchored it that way, but I was loathe to do any drilling into the bodywork of the vehicle.
Thanks Vincent. We used 18mm plywood. Boards were 1200x2400mm. We used 4 boards for the build. The base was made from 2 of the boards. The side pieces came out of 1 board, and the drawer slide came out of the last board. The rest of the measurements were all custom to fit the shape of the load bed.
Amazing build?? Don’t suppose you have the dimensions of your build? been looking for a sliding draw system, now I’m tempted to do it myself after watching this!!
Sorry Andrew. We never wrote down the dimensions. This was our first build and because of the plastic moulded bin liner in my Ranger, we had to a lot of trimming and shaving here and there to make it fit snugly. This one was a lot of trial and error.
@@linkcubuspark We didn’t fix it to the bed. I didn’t want to drill holes through the body work. The weight of the drawer is enough to keep it down in place.
Hi bud. We can help you with that, but only if you are based in Joburg. We would likely have to build it over 2 (possibly 3) weekends (my partner and I both have regular jobs, and as this is a sideline, we can only work over weekends). It is a custom build, so would need your vehicle to ensure a proper fit. We would have to buy all of the components upfront, meaning we need a deposit, and total price would be R15,000. As it is a custom build we can design it with any unique requirements you might have.
Nice job. Thanks for sharing bud.👍
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback!
nice setup! I'm going for this one! :)

Great work. Taking inspiration for my own build in my Wildtrak 👍🏻
Awesome! It’s a lot of fun customising to your needs rather than buying standard off-shelf solutions.

Space isn’t an issue for me as I’ve recently fitted an RSI Smartcap canopy. Great quality really pleased with it so far.
Love it. Great fit out. 👌👌👌

Hope you are feeling better. Road trip around Oz sounds epic. Canning Stock and Highway 1 look amazing! Would love to do those one day!
Really nice, but just a question, your Securi-Lid type cover, how water “proof” is it, this is my concern with my setup I was looking at doing

If you DM me on Instagram, I can give you more details, including contacts.
