Camping in South Africa | Lefokeng Bush Camp | Dinokeng Game Reserve

- We recently spent the weekend camping at Lefokeng Bush Camp, situated in the middle of the Dinokeng Game Reserve.
Dinokeng is located just over an hour north of Johannesburg in the Gauteng province of South Africa.
The camp site is off-grid, meaning no electricity or water on the stands, so a good battery and solar panel are essential. There are shared ablutions, which are cleaned and well maintained. There is also a lovely swimming pool to cool off in on hot, summer, bushveld days. There are communal water taps available in the camp site to fill the water tanks in your off-road caravan or trailer.
Dinokeng is a big 5 game reserve, meaning that one can find lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo - along with a variety of other animals such as giraffe, zebra, warthog, kudu, nyala, and the ever present impala. There is also an abundance of bird life in the park.
There are plenty of bush lodges and bush camps scattered around Dinokeng, making it the perfect weekend getaway for people living in Johannesburg and Pretoria. There is also a micro-brewery in the middle of the park, called Arlington Brewery & Cidery - a great place to stop for a bite to eat, and for some liquid refreshment!

My 4x4 offramp camping trailer is a Metalian Bowhunter trailer with a Tentco Junior TTT. My vehicle is a Ford Ranger Wildtrak (Thunder Edition) 2.0l bi-turbo diesel, with a Front Runner Slimline II rack fitted over the load bed.
