    Hi John, You're looking great and slimming down at a sensible pace! All the oils you mentioned are plant oils. I naturally weaned away from olive and avocado oil and use only beef and bacon fat for cooking. I do add coconut oil to my morning bulletproof coffee (my only indulgence) that also includes 2-3 eggs yokes, butter, cinnamon, keto chow daily minerals. Do you eat raw or cooked plants any more? Which ones?

    • @BigManAlaska
      @BigManAlaska 11 часов назад

      Great question at the end of this comment. I have to actually think pretty hard about it now. Blueberries is one, an avocado is rare these days, along with an occasional banana or orange. After trying Indian food I'm rather scared about spices and that's not even so much about the oxalate anymore. It really wrecked how I felt in my stomach. It was very tasty and fun to eat out but wasn't worth it after all.

    Have you found that the body tries to find a state of balance? What I mean by that is you can clean up your diet with healthy foods and lose weight, and then after a while, the weight loss stops because the body is trying to maintain and will adjust your metabolism to maintain weight. I believe this is when you have tried a modified fast to jump-start the weight loss again. Could it be natural to have times that you will plateau and times when the weight seems to just melt away?

    • @BigManAlaska
      @BigManAlaska 21 час назад

      I believe you are correct. I've had several weight stalls and some lasted longer than expected. Everyone I know that's dropping from morbidly obese to regular obese is experiencing it too. Seems like no matter what our bodies try to get used to it for a while.

      @@BigManAlaska Awwww . Maybe the cat needs a home . Yes, Shawn is phenomenal but you’re doing amazing too !!. I have to really remind myself off how terrible I felt when I was carrying 164 pounds …carrying the extra weight around was terrible for the 2 titanium hips I have. But I’m getting closer to my goal weight and I’m feeling amazing. Plus, I’ve learned whenever I’m hungry and I wanna reach for something that my husband around the house, cause he’s not carnivore, I’ll just hear up a couple of Stallone burgers …. I called them that cause during the filming of Rocky his trainer would give him these large half dollar size burgers about 1.4 ounces, cause I had my husband make me some and that’s what they weigh. Stallone ate them on set when he was filming the rocky movies. Another thing I noticed John, is that I used to have a stomach on me where I looked like I was six months pregnant, and it’s gone. 😳 my daughter pointed that out to me the other day. With your permission I would like to share your testimony with a friend, named John too… we were in a band member together back in Connecticut. I’m living in Florida now. He suffers from diabetes. What do you think you would recommend that would be a great video to help him?

      Most of the more experienced carnivores I talk to say we need to up the fat intake. I found this to be true over time. Mu energy levels now are so good I don't even like sleeping in on my days off. Plus I never have that mid day dip in energy, even when working in the heat. Adding butter, bacon fat, beef tallow while cooking can help with that.

    I find it difficult to understand how anyone would consider doing a carivore diet. The concept of showing compassion towards my fellow creatures, makes me consider the manner in which they are raised and slaughtered, as well as being kind to our planet. Americans already eat far too many animal products on their Standard American Diet, along with a huge amount of other garbage they call food. Valter Longo PhD, an expert in human health and longevity, suggests eating a mostly plant based diet, with fish twice a week. People known to live the longest, those found in the 'Blue Zones' do not eat carnivore. And, there are so many ways of increasing protein. Ezekiel bread is very healthy, and really satiates, and is good for pre-diabetics. Check out the ingredients, you will likely be surprised just how healthy it is. Oh, and I have not eaten meat for 70 years, I stopped when I discovered what it took to put meat on my plate. Instead, I aim for a plant-based whole foods diet, organic on items with a high toxic load. It works out beautifully for someone living on a minimal fixed income, and has many health benefits. I love cycling and enjoy it even more now that I have an electric bike. In hindsight, I would have chosen a tricycle, more stable and more room to carry cargo, such as shopping or one's pup. Surprisingly, electric bikes have pretty much the same benefits as riding a non-electric bike, but a lot more fun when one does not have to struggle with long, high hills, makes exercising a lot more enjoyable.

      I do sincerely appreciate your comments and insight. First off I used to practice veganism and vegetarian life. It doesn't work out for the majority regardless of opinion. Most of them only make it to 35 years old before they realize they've been working off their reserves. You feel good for a while and then they crash. I was drowning in kidney stones and that was directly done from over consumption of vegetables. As far as Ezekiel bread, I know it well and used to promote it early on in my journey for a fantastic weight loss friendly option. Although I grew away from breads and grains in quick time. I'm also a Alaskan native who lives in Alaska and vegetables here are very poor quality unless grown here. All of my native relatives are also natural carnivore types but don't use the title. High fats and lots of animals based meals. The best meat we can possibly have up here what we hunt or fish for. In the meantime when we can't hunt we eat lots of hamburger meat or steaks. 😃👍Im 50 years old and feel like I'm 30.

      The "blue zone" diets have been lied about for decades. They eat a LOT more animal products (meat, fat and dairy) than what is "advertised."

      Sardines, eggs and smoked oysters worked extremely well and all on the carnivore list. Also if you're getting closer to your goal weight it's going to be harder to hit that mark. At least that's what I've been struggling with every time I close in on a milestone moment. 😄👍

    Don't forget water. When I'm hungry cuz I'm stressed or not sleeping well, i go for water first and light salt in a cup of water. I just watched a video how salt was necessary to lose weight. Effects our hormones. I think it was on Ben Bickman channel. When I get the hunger munchies, i try to increase my eating window. Today, i woke up with hunger/munchies, i decided I needed to wait till 3pm to eat, so I didn't get in the trap of grazing all day. DEF NO SUGAR, anyone can be a "coach" 🦧 I am in maintenance now, and it's a challenge. When you do reach your goal, don't change a thing for a while. See how your body balances out. You sir look great and are killing it! 🎉

      I'm definitely a work in progress and have very realistic expectations 😃. My original goal weight was around 235 pounds but that might change to 265. I'm already feeling uncomfortably small these days and most likely make some adjustments as needed.

      I don’t have a scale. Got rid of it after recovering from anorexia. I use cheese for flavoring scrambled eggs. Been experimenting with chives, Rosemary, pepper, other spices. Been making bone broth. Pickled eggs always ready in the fridge for a snack. I eat seasonal berries as a summer snack- I figure it’s good enough for bears. I pick berries and I’ve started freezing them.

      I still love blueberries and they'll be a staple for snacking but I unfortunately have to avoid the raspberries only because of the oxalate levels. I could still eat them in very small amounts but avoidance is easier now.

      There is no perfect spot on the creek. It's rather small like most tidal creeks and fish can be caught almost anywhere from the bank. Wish you lots of luck. 😃👍

    I really loved Cheezits before carnivore. Now when I see the price of chips, Goldfish crackers or snack foods in general I'm shocked! Who can afford to buy all that crap! It is crazy expensive

    • @BigManAlaska
      @BigManAlaska 13 дней назад

      Affordability is one thing but cheese it's taste horrible now. It's almost like they're not the same but they are. The price for a bag of chips in Alaska is horrible and those were easier to avoid. At some point I should go compare prices between water and soda type drinks. I believe a bottle of water is more expensive now.

    Good going. I bet you feel so much better. I'm doing a calorie and exercise diet. I find after watching you I've been incorporating more eggs and meat in my diet. It helps a lot to curb my hunger. I can have just two pieces of dry toast and be uncontrollably hungry. I'm not having that crazy hunger with a couple of eggs. As a matter of fact, I'm getting ready to crack open a can of oysters.
