How is the judge allowed to condition a court-appointed attorney on the defendant getting a job? Wouldn't that be a potential 6th amendment violation, given that indigent criminal defendants are constitutionally entitled to a court-appointed attorney? It makes sense to me to condition release on the defendant getting a job, but how is the court able to condition a constitutional right on getting a job? Are there any lawyers here that can answer?

My respect for Judge Middleton has grown even more, I love that he is sticking up for his staff. The people who work in courts often get a lot of abuse form people and it is refreshing to see a judge who has their backs.

Why do all of the thugs that appear in court wear masks? It's not as if Covid is as big and issue as it was. IMHO, they are wearing these masks to hide smirks and other facial effects so the judge does chastise them more. It's a big joke and should not be allowed.

A frivolous FUN FACT about the whole "Black Robes" thing: the Black Robes Judges wear began in England when Queen Mary died - 1555. Out of respect for the Queen at time of her death the Court System instituted Black Robes to be worn in her memory...from that day forth. So when America began to be immigrated this tradition got "carried over" as Courts came into use in our society. So Judge Fleischer is NOT being "disrespectful" to the Court for his chosen wardrobe when in his Court. Judge Fleischer clearly understands where the "Black Robe" tradition came from. In fact....Judges in American courts have no obligation to memorialize the death of Queen Mary by wearing a Black Robe.

Judge Middleton is my fave judge. He truly cares about the people in his county, I wish the place I live in had a judge like him.

I’ve seen dozens of cases tried by Judge Middleton and I never tire of it. Easily my favorite on Legal RUclips. Not only a great legal mind, but it’s obvious he has a great breadth and depth of intelligence (not to mention a dry, razor sharp wit). He does right by his community and never seen him be unfair. He’s the type of person I’d love to just sit down with (hopefully outside of court) and sit and listen to him tell his stories and impart wisdom.

Wow, what a profound case of self-delusion. She's a perfect example of a sovereign citizen. They are the ultimate examples of self-indulgence. They seem to want to live in a society without institutions, in some sort of utopian world there is no limit to personal action or accountability to organized authority. So many failed attempts at this kind of utopia demonstrates that we fallible humans need fair institutions to keep our worst instincts from harming others and to allow society to continue. Even the original utopia had its snake.

There are a lot of delusional people out there, the system is definitely not perfect but as has been pointed out, that kid could have ended up with a record for a nothing misdemeanor if he had followed this bullshit advice. Lucky for him his mum wasn't a sov cit airhead. We have rules, we don't like it when we find ourselves on the wrong side of these (intentionally or accidentally) but they apply to all of us (unless you are very rich and powerful) and sometimes we just have to hold up our hands and take responsibility for our actions. It's a planet of 8 billion people and if we don't have rules to maintain our society then we end up with major issues, just look at countries where the rule of law breaks down. If you believe you are innocent or have mitigating circumstances then these are what the court will hear, saying that the rules don't apply to you because you have not "contracted" is just childlike stupidity. I hope she learns her lesson because some other judges might not be as patient as Gautier, she could have had lots of fines for her outbursts. It doesn't help that the internet spreads all sorts of nonsense and conspiracy theories and also that there is a lot of political rhetoric that seems to question the validity of the legal system but bad as the judicial system is it is better than it would be it that lady made the rules.

The idiots attorney seemed to feed the prosecution all of the factors needed for probable cause in all charges. I would rather have my 5 year old grandson represent me. The sovtard has no idea how ignorant he is.
