Milotic and Feebas look beautiful. I have been enjoying the app so far as a casual game (something to kill time). The collection part isn't really that interesting for me personally as the pace at which you can collect is far too slow and the RNG to obtain cards is horrible. I enjoy the single play, but again, I have done 3/4 tiers and being on the final one feels like going from 0 to 100 in difficulty to meet the conditions to complete the tier (but this ties down to the same issue of card RNG, I can't build an amazing fire deck without at least 1 EX card to support it and there is no feasible way to get one). Pokemon being corporate is always going to be two things: inevitable and cringe. Happy Birthday WPM! And to sign off, Alolan Dugtrio with the good hair!

I’ve calculated the amount of damage the Scovillian ex’s Spicy Rage attack can do if it has 5 damage counters and it can do up to 400 damage so it’s pretty powerful for just 2 energy. I like this one more than the other one from temporal forces (even though it’s basically one of those gym promos in Japan)

Lapras, speaking of... i want that 7-eleven stamped promo, hope the price goes down... I'm switching from tcglive to pocket just for the card collecting and my wife agreed on downloading the app too... so i hope the trading aspect of the game works with all the cards... Plus, i was thinking since Pokemon GO got a set maybe Pocket will get their own set down the line or maybe some of the most liked cards come out as Promos

RE: Pocket - I'll probably download it and try it out initially. Then let it rot on my phone like POGO, occasionally checking in for special events but otherwise not partaking.

I don’t know if Pocket is that bad. Sure people are addicted to phones, but I actually find Pocket to be less intrusive than others. It’s really just about opening packs - and if you’re good with self control being able to open two a day for free is pretty quick and simple, you could open them right before bed. It’s like what 2 min of your time? Versus something like Sleep or Masters EX that are much more intrusive. You can also trade cards with others digitally with friends close by or far off. Pretty much what we all do as physical collectors now

I really love the acorviart too!!! It is very graphic! I love!!! The simplicity in something so complex is gorgeous.

It is clear hat the mobile game is not going to last more than a year. It is masters, quest, cafe, magikarp jump, dash, etc etc etc. It will short circuit day 1 and not be used enough week 2.

Lapras... I don't have an interest in Pocket. I'm a old school, physical card collector exclusively. But if it attracts new trainers to the hobby, it's a good thing.

I hope we get those illustration rares IRL (like that LAPRAS), but my hopes have been dashed before with JPN exclusive cards as it is so I will just assume they won't. I don't think the app will have the effect you think it will though. Apps are designed to streamline the process, take away a level of thinking and reduce something down to a low level of play. IRL still requires multiple aspects. You gotta physically be there, spend money on decks (and adjusting for rotation), actually follow and apply the rules of the game. I think the app is a money grab for sure, but it also could be putting the feelers out for what card artworks people want for future illustration rares :U

Hello! For me, TCG Pocket feels like a fresh revamped version of the existing Pokémon TCG online, but way more community-driven, exclusive, and collectible. I think Pokémon is really trying to push the TCG aspect (both online and in an esports format), and I truly believe that TCG Pocket is going to be a big success. As for the card printing, why not have one (or several) sets featuring TCG Pocket, similar to what they did with Pokémon GO? We could even see exclusive cards for players in the future, especially if TCG Pocket becomes a competitive format! I totally agree with Jon about the addiction and the money side of things. But we also have to accept that there will always be a business aspect, because, in the end, Pokémon is still a company. That doesn’t take away from the passion they put into their work every day, though. In my opinion, the franchise is just trying to adapt to the new generation and the times we live in. Nowadays, kids are using smartphones as young as five, so it’s only natural for them to evolve with the progress. It’s inevitable! All in all, I’m super excited to see what the Pokémon franchise has in store for the future! Big thanks to both of you, and shoutout to PokeBeach for always being on point with the content. Skarmory! I’ve been reading Pokebeach maybe 4 years. It started slow, but now I check it daily. As far as dream cards goes… that’s really hard. I’ve got a lot of favorite Pokemon. At this moment though, I’d wish for an SAR Sabrina’s Alakazam drawn by Shinji Kanda or an SAR Rocket’s Polteageist drawn by Tomokazu Komiya. Yeah, I know the latter might not make sense from a lore standpoint, but we’re talking dreams here. Finally, lol @ you both (but mainly WPM) finally being awake and lol at the discourse over Basil’s bed. I love the side chatter.

Skarmory. So, my favourite Pokemon are in this order... Mew, Articuno, Altaria, Latias and Alolan Vulpix. So 3/5 of those have already got something good recently; I would say that Articuno or Alolan Vulpix then. Articuno from the app would be awesome or a Lillie's Alolan Vulpix. I have been following you guys for about 5 years now. To be precise, Pokebeach for 5 years, JustInBasil for the last 3 more religiously.

Will the 7/11 promocl card be available in US stores?

Happy 1 year guys! I recently found out you guys have a podcast and I’m glad to listen in. A card I would want as SIR or IR is goodra, maybe even as an ex Tera type, any type for that matter. I think it’s the only pseudo that doesn’t get much attention or special treatment in the TCG, it’s usually always a holo, and I’m not including hisuian goodra because it got a V card. Skarmory! Also I made my poke beach account I think 6 years ago haha

Congrats on a year of the show, guys! As someone who produces & edits podcasts for a living, it makes me really happy to see that you just keep improving as time goes on. You're both noticeably more comfortable with the format now (especially when you find the time to get some sleep 😉), and Jon's *really* improved with speaking on camera, you should be proud! I've been reading PokéBeach for well over a decade now, I remember you being my primary source for Black & White news back in high school. It's awesome that the site continues to be a part of my life, and this podcast is there to keep me caught up on any stories I happen to miss during the week! As far as a future chase card, I'm excited for the inevitable shiny Mega Gardevoir once we get to the Z-A era of the TCG.
