I’m gonna be honest…this is a dead end my man…I followed these same bread crumbs…but here we are…and the end and none of this was resolved.

FromSoft definitely loves their mysteries, but the more you dig, the more you see that everything is laid out very early in the game. Dark Souls was the same, the intro in that game holds so much information that seemed so cryptic at first, but years of lore consumption later, and you can really understand the entire story from that single cutscene. On topic though, I don't think Messmer burned Melina, both of their kindlings produce fires that burn both the corporeal and ethereal aspects of something, it's why we needed them to burn the trees fully. If anything, I think the Erdtree has been burned once before, maybe before it was the Erdtree to allow the Erdtree to take it's place, maybe that's the missing link between the Crucible Tree and the Erdtree. Also, I love how Messmer's empty eye looks like the Darksign, DS and Elden Ring linked confirmed?

I think Marika and Messmer agreed that he stay in the land of shadow's. If I'm not mistaken it sounds like that if you read his armor or remembrance description.

This game without a doubt is my favorite rpg and favorite soul's game of all time i dont understand why people dont like this game alot of elden ring players struggle and it makes no sense which is why they dont like dark souls 3 but i find this game like a walk in the park i loved all the bosses the weapons were amazing and i have beaten this game so many times even as a pyromancer now im trying to beat the game with no armor which alot of people struggle with but this is the best souls game in my opinion alot of people disagree but i do not care this is my favorite souls game.

My thing is why exactly ia her church protecting her eve by the sealing tree ? Wouldn't she be against messmer and the golden order ? What about her relationship with the hornsent ? The fact we have to defeat her to use messmer kindling is weird cuz you would think she would be all for someone getting thise who burnt her church and flowers . Idk 🤷‍♂️

How dare you suggest the Rot is anything but horrific. It rots away at your very core. Once its done you're no longer yourself. Look at Radahn, he's left eating the corpses of friend and foe alike howling at the sky. Look at Malenia, her body is rotting away, where do you think that arm went? Hell even Dragons are effected by it. Greyoll is seemingly fusing with the ground unable to take to the skies. It rots away EVERYTHING you are and leaves nothing but more Rot behind. Caelid is forever tainted by it, and the only thing that kept it at bay was the Redmanes and their fire. Romina's will to Protect her church is all that remains of her, she doesn't even say anything to us, she only mindlessly defends her church.

The Lore is lackluster because there was no cutscene, no lead up, no slight little backstory, no ghost out there lamenting about the situation that took place, absolutely nothing about her. You go through the zone which is like this cool open dungeon and nothing really hints about her at all throughout the whole zone. Save for the couple rooms with Rot and Pests and thats it. Then you get up to her empty rotting church and bam its just a boss fight out of nowhere. You only learn about her from her remembrance and whatever item you get from it. Ridiculous. At Least Metyr was tied behind a quest with information. She had absolutely nothing to indicate she was even up there.

I have ptsd with centipedes, I don't wish to elaborate. But Miyazaki literally made me have a panic attack during a boss fight. Heart racing in my head, legs shaking, cold sweats. Whole shebang. Miyazaki has won. He's won idk what else to say, good job Miyazaki you've made a boss in a video game trigger ptsd. That's just idk I'm just embarrassed but I'm happy I was able to kill her, do the dlc enough maybe I'll get over it. We'll see.

I literally thought this theory up as well and discussed it with other people and they think it makes sense a little bit. But they still think she’s the Gloam Eyed Queen, which wouldn’t make sense because Maliketh killed the Gloam Eyed Queen, and I don’t think Marika would ever want to harm her own children.

I’m open to hearing you out… but I feel calling Miquella evil is blasphemous he saw the curse that Marika set on the entirety of the world even her children and him like Ranni understood being able to stop something like that takes pain and sacrifices he even was giving his own life over to become a god so he could do his best to save everything he could… Even us the player have to sacrifice Melina to be able to become lord.. idk no one is truly innocent in a world like theirs and the true villains are the two fingers and Marika because the “Greater Will” has taken its leave for a LONG time

I don't think there is enough evidence to move past speculation, however if I were to speculate about why Messmer would have killed Melina, my best guess would be that she escaped her prison in the great elevator and, since she had the black flame, she was a danger to her mother, a god. Marika may have explicitly ordered Messmer to kill her, which would explain why he is so melancholy about his flame, and why he finally curses Marika at the end. I don't think it was an accident, or a loss of control. I think it was deliberate, if it happened at all.

U think miquella caused merika to shatter the Elden Ring?

We all think Miquella is evil , but deep down St Trina ask us to grant him forgiveness. So may be Miquella action looks evil to us but the only one really know he’s kind is St Trina.

I don't understand other players has the balls to refuse and debate on why Radahn is Mohg and that Miquella being suddenly evil, when in the first place they didn't make an effort to follow the questline? I just realized miquella is controlling rahdan. How? We’ll just think in the boss fight miquella hugs us and we are converted to him… he was hugging rahdan the whole time in the second phase of the boss fight. N he comes out when rahdan soul returns i guess. Maybe rahdan wouldn’t have fought us if miquella didn’t hug him

Something to notice about the Scarlet Rot, Romina and Malenia is that its about life, death and rebirth, and Romina has a more complete and undamaged appearance while Malenia is broken and rotting. Given that Marika hated death and removed the Rune of Death from the Elden Ring it's clear that Malenia didn't have the chance to vent her curse in a way that didn't do harm to everyone including herself due to her more or less being bared from dying unless Malekith or the Blade Blades are on the job. However I don't think that we are seeing the god of the Scarlet Rot in Romina but she is whoever an avatar given that she's a Saint of the Scarlet Rot God and would warrant her taking on a form similar but not matching of her Divine Patron as a reward and sign of devotion to it.

Everyone is fixated on the bracelet or the gates in the Story Trailer but why is no one talking about how she's taking the golden hairs from the eye of a snake?

What if the entire base game was Miquella's doing? Hear me out. So Miquella wanted to overthrow the Golden order so she charms Rani, gives her the tools she needs to relinquish her control from the two fingers and plans Godwyn's murder knowing fully well that Marika would shatter the elden ring and begin a war for the next elden lord. The wrench in her plan was when Malenia failed to kill Radahn, in turn destroyed his body unfit for resurrection. Now stuck in the land of shadows unable to step out since Mesmer looms in the lands, she waits and continues fueling Mohg with her charms. When the tarnished returned to claim the throne, Miquella again started plotting using us as pawns this time instead of Rani.

I don’t quite know if they targeted the church or they would’ve just purged every living creature like belurat. I think it was just in the way to seal the tower.

After the dlc. the main game seems.so peaceful. The pests being helpful most of the time in the dlc also kinda makes me think its mostly just part of nature. Still hate calied and the sea of rot though

Y'know. The reasons the scarlet rot might be bad could only be because Malenia is fighting and suppressing it, causing it to corrupt and rot, embodying only its worst parts due to her rejection. Meanwhile Romina embraced it, in all it aspects, which made it more benign, embodying its true nature. Even her butterflies all look healthy, compared to Malenias having grey and withered ones.

I don't think Marika betrayed her, I believe the hornsent did. The church is at the top of a huge hornsent ruin. I think that the hornsent took the church from the albenorics and she worked with mesmer to reclaim it, only for the hornsent to burn the church in spite. Remember she gaurds the seal to the tower willingly.

This is a really good theory on what that thing inside egg is, which I am going to happily accept. For 2 years, I was arguing this is not Miquella, and a counterargument I was told is that someone went into the game files to read the item file name and it said Miquella, even stating his age. I disregarded that, because 1) I don't care about the things that are not visible in the game itself 2) I thought Mohg was a nutcase. Now I need to go find the model, because there could be a deep gash that Ansbach gave him.
