Bondy Jr. catch Muskie! (despite being fugly). NW Ontario opener.
Couple days into the NW Ontario musky opener. We seen a lot of lazy followers shallow, had some action from small fish, but doing a bit of walleye/musky combo fishing a bit on structure we had some action from a nice musky and pike on Bondy Junior and Red October tube. Wind not good for sound quality of the video, but can't complain about how it ups the biting action.

Pike love Big Musky Lures!
Просмотров 605Месяц назад
We love catching pike: they are great fighting and exceptional good to eat. Big musky lures are very effective in getting big pike to bite when the smaller stuff just isn't getting the attention. A few examples of the big pike we caught while targeting muskies. We are pike and muskie fishing in Northwestern Ontario. #pikefishing

Musky fishing in Northwestern Ontario. We catch some more big, really thick and heavy muskies. One big musky eager to take a Cowgirl an imminent storm. Two super beautiful thick fish coming off some reefs adjacent to deep water (and ciscos/whitefish), one on a Red October, the other on a Bondy Royal Orba. #muskiefishing
Cold Front Ontario Musky. Part I

First video of a series. First day trip for muskies and pike in Northwestern Ontario with tough north wind conditions blowing in, chill in air. Trial and error and persistence and we start to figure out a pattern. The post spawn muskies were in feedback mode and with very little pressure we found active fish despite the seemingly tough conditions. Apologies for vid (pike slime) and audio qualit...

Day 2 of musky fishing trip to NW Ontario we take what we learned from Day 1 and put to test. We had lots of follows, lots of pike and we hook into some muskies including a NW Ontario musky heavyweight. You can see the pattern in this and the prior: closer to the spawning areas and always typically near some heat-holding rock (usually on or near slab/boulders). #muskyfishing #muskiefishing
Big Pike chows Rapala Peto X-Rap Boatside! NW Ontario Musky Opener

Out of on opening weekend of muskie fishing in Northwestern Ontario. First day was some mixed weather, rainy, but fishable. Get a few muskie follows on some structural spots, typically with some weeds nearby, so try a point with a bit of a weedflat. Fishing Lake Winnipeg in the spring for big greenback walleye with fishing buddy LZ, I switch it up from reliable jig and salted minnow combo to a mini rattlebait that has worked well during the winter, and quickly tie into a very big fish. Red October Tubes - one of my favorite musky baits. Fishing solo in northwestern Ontario for muskie and northern pike using both the shallow and deep (heavy) versions of rigged Red October Monster tubes results in a few nice musky catches and follows. They look great and sure they will catch. My concern is if same soft plastic as the RO tubes that they won't last with too many bites - maybe a good problem to have but up here ton of big (and small) pike wear out all but the toughest rubber lures.

      Agree with the too long of trailer on the red octobers and nervous about a deep swallow. Prefer the shorter trailer on titan tubes but they just aren't big enough. This fish actually just was in the jaw and water release because totally spent from long hard fight way out.

    How do you cast heavy Lures without hurting shoulder? I got Always pain despite 9' XH Rod. I Need to learn the right technique. Thanks for suggestions

    • @TheAnglingOracle
      @TheAnglingOracle Год назад

      I usually go straight back over shoulder with a bit more line out to give heavy lures a bit of a swing before going forward in the cast which uses a bit more momentum of lure rather than whip of rod than say with blades. Tubes (with lighter weights), Swimmin' dawgs, Posiedens are not all that heavy to throw compared to bulldawg pounder and bigger medusas, so I limit the heavy stuff on known big fish spots. In general I save shoulder and conserve energy overall by really mixing up lure selection and go to the heavy stuff when in known or high percentage big fish spots, prime times, and tend to use easy throwing lures when prospecting.
