  • Day 2 of northwestern Ontario muskie opener. I fished a spot that I knew would have the potential to hold some early season muskies, warm and further along cabbage weed growth. Day 1 was a bit of mixed weather day, but located a few muskies, including seeing one nice one on this spot. Looked to hit in the evening, but already several other musky folks there, so left it till the next morning. Morning I arrived on spot, and although some other boats in area, I got situated fairly close to where I saw fish day 1. Not that many casts in, got a bite but it came loose - good sign for the using a big lure. A dozen or so casts later I tied into this big fish. Wasn't sure if I could make a video without giving too much away, hence you'll be seeing a lot of boat and reel... If you are a musky fisherman you'll understand why the editing is the way it is to kind of respect the spot.

Don't always have to go small in spring - in fact most of the action I had was on either big stuff or topwater. More musky pressure than I'm used to for sure (guys moving right on top of me at times) - and difficult video to make given didn't want to give away real easy to recognize landmarks.
