  • Red October Tubes - one of my favorite musky baits. Fishing solo in northwestern Ontario for muskie and northern pike using both the shallow and deep (heavy) versions of rigged Red October Monster tubes results in a few nice musky catches and follows. The natural erratic action can be enhanced by a vigorous retrieve or can slow it right down to a dead stop for jigging action. Versatile musky and big northern pike bait.
This is part 1 of a 2 part series using big rubber - next up I'm out with my friend Rob Olson and his son Ben for more musky action (underwater in b-roll in part 1 courtesy of Ben).

Thanks for noticing and commenting on that - these fish are super rare so very important to me to get them back healthy.

I have yet to catch a Musky on the double curly tailed Red October, but it looks so good that I keep trying

They look great and sure they will catch. My concern is if same soft plastic as the RO tubes that they won't last with too many bites - maybe a good problem to have but up here ton of big (and small) pike wear out all but the toughest rubber lures.

Positive to the water release, negative to the deep hookset.
Shrink the trailer hook. Same success, safer hook up!

Agree with the too long of trailer on the red octobers and nervous about a deep swallow. Prefer the shorter trailer on titan tubes but they just aren't big enough. This fish actually just was in the jaw and water release because totally spent from long hard fight way out.
