How Maggie Meister Replied When Mother Miriam Invited her to Become a Benedictine Nun

How to Make a Dharma Bead Ball in the Easiest Possible Way
Просмотров 473Месяц назад
The Dharma Bead Ball is artful, airy, and highly lightweight, resembling a honeycomb structure. It's super easy to master. You can make your first Dharma Bead Ball in an hour or less. In this video, I use sterling silver bugle beads measuring 6 mm long x 1.5 mm wide or so. Glass bugle beads will not work because they'll crack as you reinforce. Metal bugle beads are probably best. Possibly some ...
How to Make a FRACTAL 30-BEAD BALL (Bead Dodecahedron) in the 30 Minutes or Less
Просмотров 297Месяц назад
You'll love making these FRACTAL BEAD BALLS for your jewelry designs. The concept is simple. Instead of adding 1 bead per stitch, you add 2, 3, 4 or more beads per stitch, creating an open, lacy effect. In this video, I show you how to make a 60-Bead Ball by adding 2 beads per stitch and creating 12 interlocking rings of 10 beads each. I'm using 6/0 glass beads from Japan that I've lightly grad...
How to Make a 30-BEAD BALL (Bead Dodecahedron) in the Easiest Possible Way - with Pink Metal Beads
Просмотров 325Месяц назад
If you like beaded beads, you'll LOVE this one. With only 30 beads, it's super easy and fast. The beading technique is called "spherical pentagon stitch" and it was first invented in China more than a century ago. All you have to do is create 12 interlocking rings of 5 beads. It might sound hard - but once you learn it, you'll soon have it memorized. Use your 30-Bead Balls in new earring, neckl...

Let me know when retreat in Nova Scotia gets finalized!
Hi Jane, I might not remember to let you know - but you can keep checking the "Art's Haven" page of Samantha Norgard's website for updates here - norgarddesigns.com/collections/arts-haven. Since Maggie's Master Class won't take place until the summer of 2025, it might be quite a few months before Sam announces Maggie's class. At any rate, I'm with you - what a fantastic opportinity to learn from Maggie herself, in person!
This is a lovely interview. Thank you both! Not only am I inspired by the pieces and the beadwork , I’m also interested in the color choices that Maggie used in her work. Really beautiful, with the colors as intrinsic to the pieces as the beadwork.
hi Becca! Thank you for liking our interview. Maggie's work is impressive for sure. Now that you mention her color choices, I see what you mean - the colors are as intrinsic to the beauty of each piece as the piece's design. Maggie is so talented - and easy to work with!
This is awesome. I love Suzanne Golden as a fashion icon. I always say in 20, 30 years she is who I want to be. And I can’t believe I never knew she was a bead artist! And I have been beading for 17 years! It’s so embarrassing! I guess I just know artists who have been in B&B and BW over the years. And I still use those 2 dimensional diane fitzgerald books as well (although I am very much into the moroccan/nailhead style)
Hi @215juliusgirl - yes, Suzanne makes a marvelous fashion icon! I think she's who we all want to be when we grown up! What an amazing discovery to find out that Suzanne is a bead artist just like you! There are so many bead artists and teachers that no one can keep them all straight anymore. Another coincidence too that you both love Diane Fitzgerald's patterns! The Moroccan nailhead style is fantastic - so imaginative!
Thank you for a beautiful interview and tons of inspiration, looking forward to your youtube channel and Master class.
Hi, Smitasangani7274, I'm so glad you liked my second interview with Maggie Meister. She's an amazing artist and person - and I'm sure her RUclips channel will be highly successful! At the end of August, I'll be hosting Maggie for a LIVE Q & A here on my channel - exact date and time TBA. Everyone is welcome to come. More asap.
Lovely tutorial! Where can we get the cap? It makes the piece so fashionable! Thank you for sharing this great piece!
Hi @marysisti9979 - actually, I soldered the cap myself using a sterling silver disk that I dapped into a dome - and topped with a sterling silver jumpring. So it's a custom element. Similar elements can probably be found online - but I'm not sure where. I'm sorry I can't be of more help on this. In any case, I'm glad you like this stucture.
It’s lovely to see Suzanne featured. I made her acquaintance at Beadfest when she swept in on the bus with her fellow members of the Bead Society of New York. She was, and is, an inspiration and a wonderful artist!
Hi Jeri! I'm glad you were able to meet Suzanne in person - and her fellow members of the NY bead group! I agree! Suzanne is an inspiration - and a wonderful artist! She and I will be recording our 2nd interview in a few days. I'll post an update on that fairly soon. In the meantime, thanks for stopping by - and please come again soon!
This interview with Maggie is so informative..I absolutely love her bead work....so very authentic..I'm still trying to decide what piece of hers is my favorite..I do like her "Castellani Necklace" and can't believe she made it twice!!! Maggie is a special treasure!!
Hi Suzanne! I'm so glad you liked this interview with Maggie! I love her bead work too - and working with her these past many weeks has been an enjoyable process. Yes - she made the Castellani necklace twice - for the same customer. I agree - Maggie is a really special treasure! Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!
Thanks Suzanne! I think you are a treasure.
Thanks 😊
Thanks for stopping by, Rita - you're welcome to come again soon!

Hi Rita, you are welcome! Thanks for stopping by.
Really beautiful pieces. I am inspired!
Hi Jane, I agree! Maggie is really talented - and her designs are really inspiring!
Thank you for making these interviews - what a treat for other bead artists!
@@angelinacroftdesigns You’re welcome, Angelina! My pleasure. Thank you for watching! I couldn’t do it without you and my other wonderful subscribers.
Great interview!
Thank you, @janemclean4048! I'm really glad that you liked it! Maggie's second interview launches tomorrow morning. I hope you'll like that one too.
My first visit to the bead stores. in the garment district of Toronto, I was so overwhelmed by how much there was to see, I had to step out of the store and breathe. I was there for hours too. Recently I was in Paris, and then Italy, and most of my pictures are of patterns. Lots of floors! My mind is constantly designing! It is never quiet!
Wow - it sounds heavenly - and overwhelming. You did what any self-respecting bead lover would do - you stayed there for hours! How good that you were in Paris and Italy, taking pictures of patterns...and floors. What a gift to have an imaginative mind!
What a delight! (i have no words as to the dynamics in the loss of the original piece.)(how heart breaking)and, How inspirational for an other having been made, i love it bc you "liked' her" and that was your response to her trauma. Oh my. Such grace.
Thank you for your nice words, @Brigid1615! Yes, Maggie was kind to recreate the lost necklace for the woman who loved it so much. Maggie has such warmth and compassion - in addition to being a gifted artist.
@@valeriehector indeed
Great interview ...one critique though is everything you showed was so brief I found myself having to rewind numerous times and getting frustrated... I love this artist!
Glad you liked it, @jgp8525 - I will try to leave images showing onscreen a bit longer for Suzanne's next interview. With every interview, my video editing skills get a little bit better. In any case thanks for watching!
Appreciate the "love!!" Thank you!
Loved this video interview. Laura is a long time favorite. 😍
Glad you liked it, @stoddard52 - Laura is amazing in so many ways - a joy to work with, to boot!
Fantastic interview! Suzanne is such an inspiration, both in the art that she creates and the spirit that she puts out into the world.
Thank you, @beadorigami! I agree - Suzanne is very inspiring in both ways you mention. What a gift to our community - and the larger world! We're in process on our second interview now - and it will go live fairly soon. So please keep an eye out!
Thanks so much for the compliment...Glad you enjoyed the video!!
Another wonderful interview. Thank you for providing this content. As a RUclips beader and content creator I find it hard to sometimes find artist who put creativity ahead of bead sales. I just want people to get as excited as I do with beading. I'll say it too...I love Laura. Take care Valerie. Big hugs from Nova Scotia
I'm really glad you liked this interview with Laura McCabe. She's amazing on so many levels. Laura definitely values creativity - and it sounds like you do, too. I imagine it's cooler there in Nova Scotia than it is here in Chicago...which probably makes everything easier - including beading! Laura will be returning to my channel for a live Q & A session that is open to all - on July 27th. So if you have questions for Laura, please make a list now. More info coming soon.
I’m looking forward to this next interview. Maggie’s work is absolutely gorgeous. Valerie, thank you so much for this series of discussions with master bead artists. They are very inspiring.

I dabble in many art forms. Recently I have started making beaded brooches. I am inspired to try more beading techniques after watching this "Alice in Beadland" interview.
Hi, Giselle! Glad you're feeling inspired to try more beading techniques! Suzanne's enthusiasm is contagious! Our second interview is in process now and should be equally inspiring! In the meanwhile, happy creating!
