    I think you were using a Schacht lens that had a foggy haze or another optical problem. At F5.6 and below it should be showing minor CA distortions and softness. At F8 and above and it should be similar to the CZJ lens in terms of sharpness. The foggy haze in your results is not a feature of the Schacht lens.

    • @giedphoto7945
      @giedphoto7945 Год назад

      That's possible I never cleaned them. zeiss is sharper at 3.5 at close subjects but Schacht is getting there. Zeiss lusting sharpness at a bigger f-number rather than Schach this is sharper at a far distance. It's my lens used at the crop. Zeiss is heavy and stays home. For close that be Zeiss

    Although there is not much in it, I do believe that in every case tje Meyer Optik Gorlitz is beter than the Zeiss - the Contrast is better, the Sharpness is just marginally better, the detail in the tree is better at stopped down apertures, and the lack of starburst defect is of course better corrected. Of all these things the most important is the contrast. With lens design, the sharpness is limited by the maximum aperture of the lens. This is perhaps why the f2.8 lens beats the f3.5. I also prefer the classic style of the Gorlitz Zebra - I believe they were first to make lenses in the Zebra style. The Zebra style indicates high-contrast, which was even more important with film camera photography as it was so much harder to correc in post process work. A very detailed analysis - thank you for this great contribution to RUclips.

    I have this lens as it was for the Praktina Mount, so I got the adapter for the Fuji X mount, and that the results were most impressive, and the contrast, and colors were natural. Great lens in both Film, and Digital. I am getting more appreciated to German Optics, wish that these companies were still in business - Yes names like Zeiss, and Leitz are familiar today , But there were other Companies from as from 1900's to 1950's that were more to the Cinema as they did for still shooting, and you have to look very carefully, and hard to find them... Good Video..

      Hi, that silver lens (A Schacht Ulm R Travelon) is M42 amount. If you got M42 screw thread (Some photographers call it a Pentax thread. Pentax doesn't have anything to do with M42 thread, It was invented by Zeiss as Pentax name.) If you got M42 then you need Sony E to M42 adapter. It depends on what lens mount you got. If you got Exakta bayonet mount then you need Sony E to Exakta. Note that the Exakta bayonet Is smaller in demeter than Pentina See this video you can see the lens mount difference I compared 3 A Schacht Ulm R Travelon's ruclips.net/video/pkzAaYJA0VQ/видео.html

    The Carl Zeiss Jena 135mm f/3.5 lens was included in Praktica camera bundles of the 1970s as the telephoto. The Carl Zeiss Jena 135mm f/3.5 is 4 element lens. More optical faults you try to correct in a lens, the more lens elements you need. Old lens designs were often limited to a few lens elements because a lack of sufficient coatings caused large light losses. Light is reflected/lost for every lens element when light passing from both sides of the lens element. If the glass reflects 5% of the light, in a 4 lens element design, 66% of the light got through, compared to a multi-coated lens with 1% reflection, 92%. To build a lens for the same purpose with 6 elements, that would lose 54%. Therefore, older lenses tend to have fewer elements. It also labeled as a Carl Zeiss Jena 135mm Sonnar, or CSJ 135.
