Pro: I received a job offer there that pays $6.50 an hour more than my current job in North Carolina and pays for relocation. Con: It’s colder there.
Congrats on the offer!
Keep in mind there is open enrollment in Minnesota. You can enroll your kid into any district no matter where you live. This includes Wayzata. Yes, the "transfer into" district doesn't have to accept a transfer application if it lacks space. If you wait until high school, you'll likely not get it. But once a child is enrolled in a district, the district must keep them. Lots of people open-enroll in kindergarten or 1st grade, and keep them there through high school. That strategy generally works. Minnetonka was initially laid out with large lots (1 acre and larger) because it was intended that every lot would run on its own well and septic. Nowadays every home has municipal water/sewer, and thus many large lot owners have been subdividing their large lots. Part of Minnetonka lies within the 494 corridor. If you work downtown, this makes it very convenient.
What area of Minnesota is your favorite?
My #1 is Saint Paul Minnesota, My 2# is Minneapolis Minnesota City,I'm a Native New Yorker, my heart has been always in The City, I will never be a country Lady, and that's a fact, I need to have everything closed to me😊 Mr.Archie, thank you so much for your great advices and great content🌹🌿🌻🌹🌿🌻
I'm from Denmark and I guess we are pretty "Minnesota Nice" here. I wonder.... did a lot of Scandinavians settle in the area by any chance? 😅
Yes actually! Minnesota has very large Scandinavian roots.
In mini happyless mental/sota. Its a fly over state for a reason......just save yourself and keep going.
Most likely white or gay or on drugs are really good reasons.
I was born and raised in Minnesota. I only skipped one winter in Dallas but other than that I've spent 38 Winters here.
I wish I could skip the last few days of this one lol.
Hold!! I’m born and raised here. And the black lady experience is above standard until you date! Most black men here date outside their race aka not you sis! 😮 If you willing to date outside your race then you have options! Like our successful Hispanic or Asian populations who love they melanated ladies!😊 So new coming brothers if you want some soul food, you might start by not passing us up! We can burn up north here! This is the heartland of the country! Farm fresh! So just a little something to consider.
Its a statewide scam
@3:00 I even am starting to get this from my nieces, I've known them since they were babies. My own nieces. But think about it they spend more time with their school mates, more shared experiences, more things to relate too And I know for sure I don't agree with base 1/2 of all the liberal absolutes of MN. It's not hell on earth, but that's not what I'm saying Family takes a backseat to friends and social circles. This extends to the economy/ workplace
Ope is like, "my bad" but inwardly saying "your bad" Forcing others to think how you would feel?
Let’s keep it real as off 2025 the rent and prices of home are not cheap. It’s known as a “ welfare state” of the Midwest but if you’re hardworking middle class you will get NO help from MN government. Income tax is high. This year winter is bad last year was mild so it’s a gamble. Twin cities crime rates are getting higher so the nearby suburbs are expensive but safer. The traffic is getting bad. For me I am trying to move because I cannot handle the cold and lack of sunlight. Rural Minnesota is very very white almost no diversity 😅.
Love your dog in the background. Loving this weather here too.
You love it?! 😮 lol. I wish it would snow more.
@movingtominnesota yes I wish it would snow here more too. I love the snow and all the trees. It's so much more beautiful here.
brooklyn park
Going to be bugging you in a month. Just got to Minneapolis last week. Lol Now I'm shopping.
I'm right here next to the phone! Welcome home.
Hi Brandon ! The way I laughed when the pup thought you wasn't paying attention 😅😅😅😅. BTW I love the fact that you don't fear showing your mistakes ❤. I'll be in your inbox bugging you in a couple of days. Just booked our flight to be back there in February. Keep the videos coming...
Hey! Gotta show that we're still human! You wouldn't believe how many times I mess up in these videos lol. I'll be waiting for you.
I grew up in Maple Grove behind the lookout. So much to do there and amazing location. Cant beat it.
Nice!
Ahhhhh you live in maple grove! Love you and your channel even more man!
Thanks!
Love your channel man. About to move from Sacramento to Champlin (grew up in Maple grove) and binging your videos haha
I will agree with 169 for a con. Can be a pain but thats why I avoided living north of the river in Anoka. Thankfully 610 has opened that area up more. Maple grove would have been my choice overall (slightly bias ha) but more expensive.
Great video brotha! Grew up in Maple Grove and just bought my first house in champlin by Elm Creek. LOVE that park and all there is too do. Housing is relatively affordable even for nice places and super close to Maple Grove and other great towns. Will def have to check out some of those restaurants.
If you’re a black man. No place in MN is the best place. lol. I’m from MN and black. The harassment is unlike anywhere I’ve ever lived.
Watching from Oklahoma . I’m use to the weather changes lol lots of snow , tornadoes, etc. I’ve lived in OK my whole life it’s time for me to get out of here. My jobs pays better in Minnesota!!!
You'll be right at home here then! I've never been to OK before.
Hey fellow Minnesotan. As someone getting free college here, I can not complain. I lived in KCMO before here and there are nothing but pros for me. MO was way too hot and I didn't like that in the summer. The bugs are massive there as well. It gets so humid. MN summers are way nicer. MN & MO look very similar, but MN takes way better care of our parks. It isn't common in MN to see trash everywhere and needles in the parks like in KC. I also like how I got paid way more living here as the jobs pay better than in MO. Lastly, when it does snow MN obviously takes care of it quickly unlike in MO where the roads stay slick when it snows on occasion as they don't have the manpower to deal with it.
I heard mosquitoes were horrendous is this true ? Thank you
Yes the mosquitos in the summer are annoying as hell lol. mostly by water or wooded areas.
@ thank you
As a student if I want to live in single bedroom apartment or shared house, which area is cheapest but best and easy access to both minnepolis and st louis according to you?
I love Minnesota
Me Too!!
Please keep this secret we don’t want the Californians here 👀👀
One of my biggest reasons for not leaving the Twin Cities, besides family, is that it is like living in a National Park. Sure we don't have mountains, but there are lakes, rivers, bluffs, and waterfalls with a multitude of trees, plants and wildlife. Many lakes and much of the riverfront are publicly accessible park land, with walking, biking, and hiking trails. These areas are beautiful regardless of season. I've been in a lot of other cities in the U.S.A. and few of them seem to have the natural beauty of living in Minneapolis or St. Paul.
I second this. I love all of the trails too. It's fun just going on a little mini adventure to see where they take you.
My Dad lived in Nevada for about twenty years he just moved back month ago. My brother lived in Texas for five years and I'm pretty sure he's been back for like three years now
Too hot down there?
Minnesota food is trash
Lived here 30+ years it sucks don’t move here, it really sucks.
Been born and raised by my mom and our family since 98. Minnesota is and will forever be my home and even my mom has had that talk with me one day saying “one day you don’t want to have a house anymore here else?” And I was like “maybe but this is my home state and I don’t plan to leave even as an adult” but the fact that this state can be chill to live in (no pun intended) and we have nothing HUGE in terms of reasons to visit but you are totally write about the food people here make HELLA tasty foods. That and I would say we have some good areas too in terms of walking and sight seeing. And the history center is nice too. But personally my favorite thing about this state is is quite literally in the upper middle of the country next to the Canadian border. So in terms of safety it makes me happy and comfy
My wife and I have lived here our whole lives. I do like a winter vacation somewhere warm though. Your point about minimal crazy critters is spot on though. I'm not trying to battle an alligator if I go for a swim.
I know right!!! lol. I just saw a video on RUclips that an old lady was walking her dog and the alligator came up and killed her. I’m good.
Well, one of the largest targets in a war would be where the nuclear weapons are kept. It’s not about attacking cities and people it’s about making countries incapable to fight and defend themselves. And our nuclear defense is among other States close by, also in North Dakota - so Minnesota wouldn’t survive that one either.
Well damn. I just learned something. 🙃🤣
Interviewing for a possible job in Minneapolis, from NJ. Other than winters being colder, snowier it doesn't seem much different! Crossing my fingers I get the job
I would say its much less busy over here than there as well. When's the interview?
@@movingtominnesota Completed the first round prior to the Holidays. Waiting for round 2 to be scheduled next week
@@FrenchyStitchygood luck!!!
Jin’s Chowmein in Crystal shopping center is the best!
I used to eat there all the time
Maple Grove native here. Another local restaurant is Angeno’s pizza.
I've actually never eaten there. Is it good?
@ it’s very good! The restaurant has been in the community 30+ years!
I wish you had mentioned our theater seats per capita 1st place and our friendly attitude towards bike riders
That's why I have people like you to help me out! :)
Yeah, don't move here. It's terrible. And everyone is living in an abject state of misery with all our food, museums, culture, state and National Parks, history, our winning football team, amazing park and bike system, being a climate change bastion, an indomitable national beauty and resources, etc. Yeah, he's right. Dont move here. Dont even think about coming. You're too weak. The cold will break your shins right the eff off. You won't make it. Dont even think about it. Don't. You'll end up dying in a road ditch if you try. There are so many bloodthirsty deer out there. *sips coffee in the best place in the world, behind my screen in the TC* No, I will not reply to anyone shitting on our state. My fingers are too cold to type anything. I'll just bask in the jealousy; that usually keeps them warm year-round.
The winter weather drives out all the weaklings. Don't see this as a bad thing. Breathe, or die. Most Minnesotans choose to breathe.
lmao
I relocated from California to Minnesota 5 years ago I love the Eagan and Inver Grove heights suburban area
My girlfriend is from Eagan. They have a lot of stuff over that way.
I moved out of maple grove for this exact reason. It’s too populated and too much building. Don’t miss it at all.
Where did you move to
So glad I got out of the sprawl of the cities, you can't gentry your way to a personality, but all the suburbs keep trying
Just wanted to send a salute to you Brandon for the work you’re doing on this channel. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! I appreciate it!
