    I was born in Minneapolis, moved to Phoenix in kindergarten mom and I. We are moving back to Minneapolis next year.. I’m nervous because it’s new for me but mom knows MN well. I’m nervous about the weather and the people.. but I miss my family they all live in MN and we miss a ton of family functions. Hopefully I can handle the winter I’m an Arizonan lmao

      lol. The weather really isn't as bad as everyone thinks it is. The people you hear complaining about it are the people that have been here all their lives. It's no different than the people looking to move here from Texas because it's too hot. You can either have too hot or too cold. At least when it's too cold, you can put more clothes on. There's only so much you can do when it's too hot though.

    Technically, the largest county in the state by size is St Louis County 🙃 it's actually bigger than several Northeastern states. Not quite the biggest by population though - but we do have multiple county fairs since the county is so big.
    Love watching your videos & hello from a very stormy Eveleth! The weather map had pretty much everything on it today - snow, freezing rain, ice accumulation, high winds, blizzard conditions, Lake Superior lakeshore flooding, power outages, etc.. gotta love Northeastern Minnesota weather!

      Well when I said "The biggest" I meant population 😂.
      Thank you! But MAN the weather was super crazy yesterday. Mother nature was feeling real moody!!!

    I was born and raised in Minnesota. I've lived in the twin cities for a 5 and 2 year period. 5 Years during the purple rain era, great times, and 2 years during the O.J. trial period. Horrible! miserable traffic, long commutes for basic necessities, bad drug problems, etc., etc. The crown jewel of Minnesota is DULUTH. No other city comes close.

    We live in FL as well. We just got back from a week long trip to Stillwater. Honestly fell in love with the area and hope to move there soon! FL is just crazy and keeps getting crazier!

      Nothing about Florida is “crazy and keeps getting crazy” at least you don’t have state income tax in florida and the weather is amazing 9 -10 months out of the year. In minnesnowda it’s terrible and frozen 🥶 9-10 months out of the year and you have to spend your weekends shoveling snow before it deep freezes the next day and you can’t budge it. You can’t grow squat in Minnesota either it will die come freezing weather weeks before Halloween 🎃 in florida there isn’t an end to the fruits and vegetables you can grow to lead a healthy life and get out and walk. Can’t do that In Minnesota I tripped and fell many times trying to do that on ice 🧊.

      @@jasonbrodierqevermy1998 Grass is always greener on the other side. I grew up in Georgia, and everytime I visited Florida, it was WAY TOO HOT! The heat in Orlando is on a whole nother level. I literally couldnt take it, and i was already from the south.
      Then there is the Florida prison system - literally hee-ell on earth if you ever go to jail for a speeding ticket. The things that happen in jail there, I cant say on youtube because my comment will get removed.
      I will say, I agree that Minnesota weather sucks, and you cant do what you want all year round without going to war with -20 degree weather. Florida wouldnt be my first place to flee to, though.

    when I lived in central florida the running joke was that Orlando is an hour away from Orlando. despite the metros being about the same population wise, If I drove 45 minutes in any directions in the twin cities I'm out in the country side. St Paul is 30 minutes away and I think that is a long drive now 🤣

    • @movingtominnesota
      @movingtominnesota  Год назад

      🤣 try being a realtor driving all across the twin cities. The first hour feels like 15 minutes to me. I’m so used to being in a car now.

    Would you say the twin cities are comparable to dallas-fort worth? I currently live in the surrounding suburbs and love how close dallas and fort worth are without being in the city and I'm looking for something similar up north.

    • @movingtominnesota
      @movingtominnesota  Год назад +1

      If by "similar" you mean just by being in the suburbs but still being only 30 minutes or less from Minneapolis then yes.If you Google "Twin Cities" and look at the map, the farthest city away from downtown Minneapolis is only 30 minutes away. Also, each direction has a different feel. for instance the West side of the Twin Cities is completely different than the East side. We're very versatile in that way. I'm working on "Where to live in MN part 4" now and will be covering the West side.

    It's been a somewhat okay experience living in Minneapolis/Brooklyn Park area. Unfortunately, I what I have experienced as a Hispanic American person is discrimination from black Americans individuals.
    Additionally, I have spoken with some of the the Latinos that I have encountered and they too have experienced discrimination from the black people. That breaks my heart that we Latinos have to experienced this Behavioral!!

      @@90piglet well I can tell you it’s a great place to raise a family. Probably one of the best. Higher taxes than alot of states but we’re also ranked top states in median household income. Plenty of outdoor activities, events, etc. the weather is fine. Winter can be hard sometimes but I prefer winter over super hot Texas summers. And anyone telling you that the crime here is bad is very uninformed. Minneapolis is the 16th largest city in the entire United States and we’re not even top 20 on the most dangerous cities list.

    The problem with the Twin Cities area is the same as the whole state. Northern Minnesota isn’t immune from the woke that state has grown into. Face it, it’s a one party state that’s blue and these days, that doesn’t add up to anything positive anymore. Your state’s basically living on the fuel of its past success and that’s going to run out just like it has in California. At this point the best thing Minnesota has going for itself is its extreme cold and long winters. That makes it difficult for people pitching tents and living on the street for very long. That is unless they invade the malls.
