Im getting nervous about moving to Minneapolis in a couple months. Currently in Brainerd, but actually moving from Montana. Montana has such a low population, great outdoorsy things to do, and friendly people. Minneapolis sounded like the complete opposite but watching your videos for the past few hours makes it feel less overwhelming. Your videos are well structured and going more in depth into the neighborhoods instead of overviews of the entire region as a whole. They were exactly what I have been looking for all week. You are also cute, funny and soothing. Thank you so much!
Thinking of relocating to MN. I'm 30 just had a daughter and i know MN is a great place to raise her. I went to school in Eagan 10 years ago. That's when i fell in love with MN.
These steps are for people who are looking to buy a house. I wanna move out of my parents house and start a new life in Minnesota which would mean I would need to find a apartment and job first then years later think about a house.
Visiting Minnesota for the time this week to see the MOA! I searched for fun facts regarding Minnesota and your videos popped up! Great job! Awesome videos 🤩
Weather is definitley a reason Im considering moving to MN. Other parts of the country have their weather problems too (heat, tornados, hurricanes, etc) so having cold weather isnt all bad.
Hopefully going to be moving here during the spring months. But as someone who's lived in the Californian Valley, yeah, the main factor aside from having a friend up here is the weather. I just want somewhere where I won't risk dying of heatstroke in the summer every time I go outside! And a super cold winter? It'll certainly take some getting used to for me, but I honestly see that as a positive!
I have lived in CA and MN over 30 years of each. The weather in Minnesota is way better. I like to walk and in California it was too hot to walk except in the late evening 11pm to 1am. In Minnesota you can walk anytime except in the middle of the summer when it is too hot. Another thing to consider is, I have never felt unsafe when walking in MN, in CA I had to be aware and ready to bolt at any time to escape crime.
In Texas and it’s been over 100° most of our summer for plus humidity. So yea, guilty to be one of persons that’s biggest reasons will be the weather. Although it will be a drastic change and in exchange for freezing temperatures we want to give it a shot.
That’s gives you some more time to research. The market will be a lot different by then compared to what it is now. Shoot me your email and I’ll add you to my monthly newsletter so you can keep track of what’s going on. Brandonarchie@kw.com
LOL I'm in Florida and thinking about MN because I'm tired of staying in my house for the better part of 9-10 months out of the year so I don't get a heat stroke. Also, I'm tired of evacuating myself, my pets, my mother, and her pets for hurricanes. There's also a homeowners insurance crisis right now and after a $700 a month increase last year after a $300+ a month increase the prior year with a projected 40-45% increase on the next renewal, I'm ready to cash out my equity, which is at an all-time high, rather than pay over $12k a year for insurance. I think MN looks like a nice place for me as I want cool summers and I feel drawn to water, so the lakes are appealing. I want to be able to hike and enjoy the outdoors. I'm single, middle age w/ no kids and can work remote, so I can just travel if the winters are too harsh for me. I am scared of driving on snow as I've never had to do that. I've looked online and have seen some small towns with gorgeous old homes for around $250k and should be able to buy one outright from my equity (unless the bubble finally bursts), and I think that'd be nice. My concern is being too far from medical assistance especially as my mother ages and will eventually not be able to live on her own. I'm still looking and it'll likely be several months before I commit to putting my house up. I'm just not sold on MN or the lifestyle for sure.
I agree with that 🤣. I was just in Florida a few weeks ago for my bday. Soooooo hot. L I’ll take our winters all day rather than deal with that. And I can believe the insurance thing. We went to Fort Myers beach and the damage was crazy. Boats turned upside down and dry docked still. Too much stress having to evacuate all the time. Much better to live here where reptiles can’t survive. 🤣. Driving in the winter here is easy, and our snow plows are out immediately when it snows anyway.
Shockingly, i am relocating to MN for the weather. Being born and raised in Houston, Texas this is the worst place for me to continue living (lol). I want the four seasons. Yesterday it was 110 degrees outside. This summer has been, by far, the worst summer I've had since being born. All of the temps are consistently 100 degrees and more. Yes, i know having six months of an arctic blast will be different but i know i will adapt. And i think its healthy to see the seasons change. Also, the cost of living is not that much different. And your economy is good. Granted, ill be moving with my remote job but I'll probably be looking for new work once i take the leap. Overall, i really want to experience a white christmas and a tolerable summer.
Yeah I would never be able to live down there. Winters here arent that bad once you get used to them bbut it will be an adjustment for you for sure LOL!. When are you thinking about moving up here?
I am actually planning my relocation next year, probably around spring. I don't want to try relocating during the winter. I am in the process of selling my family home right now (probate and all that jazz), but once I've done that I'm going to tie up my loose ends and drive on up. I am interested in buying but I will probably rent a home first, to see what the neighborhoods are like.
Would love to help you. How soon are you looking to make the move? Right now up until January of next year is the slow season so it would be the best time to do it. Otherwise once Spring comes, prices are going to start going up again.
I would like to buy a condo while living in another state for a year or two(and rent it out while I am in different state). From my understanding, many HOA would not allow to rent it out unless you live in that property for at least 12 months. Is this true?
It all depends on the HOA. a lot of HOAs allow rentals. I think the waiting period that you’re referencing is related to the mortgage lender. Is you’re using an FHA loan to buy then you have to live there for at least a year before you can rent it out. If you’re using a conventional loan then you don’t have to live there but if you’re buying it specifically for rental purposes then most lenders will require at least a 20% down payment.
@@movingtominnesota but how can I proof that I will live there in a year while I am finishing my business things in my current state? I will google difference between FHA and conventional loans. Thank you!
@@movingtominnesota it’s just what one of real estate agent told me, just double checking with you. Are you specializing in condos? And do you have time to for a quick call? I have two cats, I know some might not allow pets but it’s my family.

As a native Minnesotan, do not move here if you have a choice. It’s lefty neo-Marxism without the awesome California weather. Unless you actually love that sort of thing. In which case, welcome Comrades!
