Seth fights cancer
Добавлен 21 янв 2024
My name is Seth. I'm 50 years old, healthy, exercise, try and eat well, occasionally overdo the booze and I recently got diagnosed with colon cancer.
A friend of mine and my nurse suggested I do a journal. I'm pretty open about what goes on with me and thought maybe someone out there could benefit from my story.
I plan to create a vlog of sorts to explain how I found out that I have cancer, my surgery, my prognosis, and whatever else may come.
I start chemotherapy shortly and am pretty anxious about it. I hear a wide variety of stories from everyone. I just don't know what to believe. I hope that this journal can be cathartic for me and potentially even help someone else.
This experience changed my whole life. As a combat veteran, I faced death on multiple occasions, never in long-term slow motion.
If people watch this and pose questions I'll do my best to answer them.

143 days since chemo started - last treatment
Просмотров 7085 месяцев назад
Getting ready to get my pump disconnected from my 8th and what will be my final chemotherapy treatment. After getting my Signatera back negative, enduring eight cycles, and having low CEA I think that moving from active treatment to monitoring for a return of cancer is a much better approach. I had one polyp during my colonoscopy all other indicators are that the cancer is gone and active monit...
Day 100 and something. - Stopping Folfox at 8 cycles.
Просмотров 3715 месяцев назад
I recorded this on a GoPro and the quality is bad; apologies in advance. It also cut off the last 35 seconds. I've decided that I will be stopping at 8 cycles of Folfox. I talk about my why, my scenario, finding a good oncologist, taking my time when deciding on a treatment regime, my personal opinions on why treatment is the way it is, and the balance between side effects and treatment.
104 Days since chemo started - looking at reducing the number of cycles
Просмотров 4236 месяцев назад
Day 104 of chemotherapy. Did my sixth cycle and am seriously debating the cost to benefit of going 12 vs 8 cycles of Folfox. I honestly don't think that 12 is necessary for the stage and level of cancer I had. It had not metastasized to my lymph nodes and had a micro-perforation. It seems that I am being provided a one-size-fits-all approach. Malpractice lawsuits and too many patients prevents ...
Day 94 of being on chemotherapy

in the middle of colonoscopy prep, concerned about chemotherapy's impact on life expectancy, thinking about my values, living life, looking to start some sort of physical exercise routine. have chemo on monday
Day 88 of chemotherapy

Sixth treatment was delayed due to low platelet count, body getting fragile, sometimes I have side effects, need to pay better attention to diet, looking forward to being done and getting on with life, mental clarity and sex drive are not good.
Day 76 - Sorry the camera is lined up poorly
Просмотров 1687 месяцев назад
Getting tired of chemo, it's getting old, the impact of chemo on life, 4-week break, constantly not well, psychology of chemo, not feeling 100%, oncology nurses and staff, not many videos as I adapt.
Day 64 - 5th cycle delayed. Next Vlog will be in two weeks.
Просмотров 1337 месяцев назад
The fifth cycle was delayed due to low platelets, the next day I got COVID, and treatment was delayed two additional weeks. Allowed my body and mind to recuperate. New perspective on what it means to be sick. I can't imagine going through this as a blue-collar worker, without health insurance, or a good support system etc.
Day 60 - Chemo delayed
Просмотров 1787 месяцев назад
My platelets were low so they delayed chemo for a week, I got a cold and my fever went to 103.4, was sick all week, first day I'm almost well, hope this resolves my nagging cough, went and got a respiratory panel and pretty sure I'll be positive for RSV, realizing I may not be done at beginning of July that if treatments get delayed I'll be going through this for longer than six months, chemo i...
Day 56 - Start of 5th cycle
Просмотров 1357 месяцев назад
Side effects are getting way worse, can't do anything at night, coughing up phlegm, mentally I'm tired, brain fog is bad, knowing what to expect from chemotherapy, and look forward to the end of chemo and normal life, fortunate for my support system, amazed at how many good people I have in my life.
Day 51 - Uploaded two weeks after recorded

I record videos then upload and schedule once a week. Fourth cycle, learning to deal with side-effects, it's been a week since I got the pump removed, nausea is constant, and no food is appetizing but when my wife cooks I like it once I start eating (most times), trying to stay hydrated, was sick much longer, fatigue is getting much worse, brain fog is not working as well, memory is suffering, ...
Day 49 - Cycle 4 side effects
Просмотров 1738 месяцев назад
Side effects are getting more pronounced. Nausea is picking up and fatigue sets in fast. Metalic taste and sensitivity to smell., irritability, general malaise, noises bother me, and cold sensitivity. Feel like I should have gotten a second opinion. Not sure I need 12 cycles of Folfox. I think I'll be non-functional towards the end of treatment. My appetite is non-existent. Nasty chest cough. G...
Day 44 - Pump disconnected and thyroid diagnosis
Просмотров 1198 месяцев назад
I still have hiccups and my chemo belly is showing. Also; during my CT scan prior to starting chemo they observed my thyroid was enlarged. My PSP ordered an ultrasound and now it looks like I have Hashimoto's disease. I'm optimistic that after surgery, chemo and getting my thyroid treated I'll feel better than I have in a long time.
Day 42 -
Просмотров 848 месяцев назад
This one is a little late as I've been sick. Got the infusion and pump connected today. Liver enzymes are elevated, got some experimental DNA test, treatment for hiccups, heartburn has been bad, and dexamethasone hit me harder than usual, never know which side effects will manifest the worst, working on my mindset as always, not focusing on side effects, acknowledge but not obsess, focussing on...

Hi Seth ; It's fantastic to hear your recovery is going well. You'll know when to rest I too , did 8 rounds of chemo More than that with radiation. May your health continue growing stronger & stronger ! Absolutely..we do become sick whilst doung treatments. It'shard but ya did it ! Please give us updates on your journey , recovery and positive remission !.
Por que tantos casos de câncer de cólon?
Sedentarismo y comida procesada
You look great! I’m so grateful you are still here! Brush with death can definitely be a gift in many ways! God bless you!
Well thank you very much.
Any problems with neuropathy? Glad you survived the treatment!
They come up on occasion but overall I'd say I am pretty fortunate and it's negligible. I really just don't focus on the side effects but they are there.
Did you have surgery
Yes. Back in December they took my ascending colon.
Great to see you again 😁
Hey you are a hottie 🎉🎉
Hi Seth can we get an update??
all the best to u
Seth : You doing as expected ?? Stay strong !
good luck from Italy
I hope you're feeling better soon, physically and mentally.
The practical stuff is very helpful but i loved that you spoke about the emotional side of things, not just for you, but family and friends. I bet it's exhausting having to reassure other people constantly.
Bravo Seth! Sounds like you have Dr that teaches one to be your own best advocate. Maybe consider Keto and fasting? You have my prayers.
Pray daily too for cancer free ever...❤❤❤
Research genuineessiac it works wonders on Cancer
I have seen a lot of videos from doctors here on RUclips that explain how to starve cancer.I wish you all the best God bless you
Good luck going forward..my bestfriend has been doing chemo off and on for 21 years for breast cancer along with radiation ..hormone blockers..and she is more positive than anyone i know..keep on going.
Good luck with everything. Thanks for all the health info. I’ll have to keep it all in mind, just in case .
you made it Seth! and you have learned so much about yourself in the process. Hoping you keep us updated in the future. Thank you for sharing a small but important time period of your life. Good to see you smiling. Take what you have experienced and live life to the fullest
My recovery is just beginning. I still need to regain my strength and senses. Chemo takes a lot out of you.
Th am you for sharing!! Your a warrior
Seth, I'm very happy for you and wish you the best of luck. I think you are going to be surprised at how fast you get your strength and stamina back, I remember during treatment my doctor asked how I was doing and I responded, have you ever woke up in the morning feeling great and knew it was going to be a great day? I then told him I have not had a day like that for 6 months, but all that changed after treatments were finished, everyday I felt better, had more strength, was not sick, and just felt noticeably better everyday. On week four after treatments ended I had two big achievements, one was getting my port removed and the second was painting my daughters house, something a month prior I never thought I would be able to do. I wish you the best of luck and please keep us posted on your recovery.
Since I am cutting treatment off early and I continue to have issues surrounding my platelet counts they want to leave the port in for awhile. I know how good I feel after three weeks I can't wait to get to 4 and 5 weeks after!!
@@Seth_fights_cancer Glad to hear you are doing well!!
You have to do what is best for you, god bless and keep healthy my friend.
Your friends and relatives are not professionals
Get a second opinion from reputable oncologist before making your final decision.
I'm not worried. For my stage of cancer, eight cycles of chemo is enough to kill it. I've read plenty of studies and will conduct monitoring as well.
Seth, I wish you well and I hope you keep us updated. Best of luck to you. I'm 2 years post op from breast cancer. I hope it stays away....🎉
I am from the UK. I had Cancer in my 30's, now in my late 70's , I still have the scar on the side of my face from where the Cancer was surgically removed. Suggest an Organic Meat, Fish , Poultry and Veg diet with no Sugar/Sugary Foods or Drinks, Bread or Cereals, to improve your health, in essence you are eating a Caveman's diet from 100,000 years ago, no Herbicides, (kills weeds), Insecticides (kills insects), Pesticides (kill Pests) or crops fed with fertilisers, Bread, Cereals or Sugary Foods. Also avoid Geopathic Stress. Cancer can be caused by Geopathic Stress (GS), Earth Energy travels from below ground up to the Cloud Layer and this can cause Cancer if it passes through you where you sleep or you sit during the day, move your bed or chair if necessary. Some plants and trees thrive in areas of GS and other plants die. Dowsers are able to detect GS and some can even neutralise it.
You express yourself well:) following and praying for you:)
lol more stupid trumpy nonsence
Hi Seth : Good for you , advocate for YOU !! I'm sorry to hear of the doctor, his bedside manner sounds atrocious ! My oncologist is definitely not like yours . He's slow at talking with me , waits if I have questions. My whole team..had patience with me . You're correct , when you hear the word Cancer , A punch in the gut . Sharing is also information ! Do what your gut says .
Hi Seth you are wonderful with your honesty. Your intuition listen to…let it be your guide to the right cancer care specialists. I’ve had friends with different types of cancer but a common theme is going to a well known hospital facility known for their cancer treatment success. That doctor taking things personal and in a hurry sounds absurd and you deserve better!
Hope you feel better man. Prolonged fasting might help you recover from the treatment. Have you looked into anything like that?
Look up the IDEA study of folfox chemo that was just recently released, It was shown that 6 months of folfox did not give any significant better results than 3 months and that 6 months did more harm as far as toxicity and long term side effects. Just do a search of: IDEA STUDY FOLFOX CHEMO. I did 8 cycles of folfox and my oncologist was ok with my decision, he told me the NCCN sets guidelines and most oncologist will not go against those guidelines no matter what, even though there have been many studies that show some of their guidelines are too aggressive with folfox being one of them. Many countries only use only 6 cycles for stage 3 and have similar results of the US using 12, but 6 has far less toxicity and long term side effects. I think you are making the right decision and hope you getting back to your normal life is as quick as mine was.
I change my oncologist you can change yours too
Is there any way you could sit closer to the microphone I don't mean to complain I just want to hear every word and I have to turn my volume all the way up to hear you.
Sorry I recorded this on a GoPro and it's just lousy volume. I may try and re-record it since it's so bad.
FOLFOX left me with terrible neuropathy. Cancer free but paid a high price. Good luck with your decision..think you are right at stopping with eight.
Thank you. it's a very hard decision but I do think that in my case and scenario it makes sense. I personally believe they don't do the research because they get to charge my insurance thousands of dollars everytime I do a cycle.
You got this man, I believe in you. Keep eating healthy, try to exercise. Pray ❤️God is with you
If you have not seen it already research the IDEA study, it shows no loss of benefit of 8 vs 12 cycles, and in many cases 6 vs 12. Just do search of IDEA study folfox chemo.
please look into joe tiipons cancer journey online also red light therapy
You are right
IF YOU HAVE CANCER CK OUT JOE TIPPENS CANCER PROTOCOL FENBENDAZOLE RIGHT AWAY, FENBENDAZOLE REDUCES AND KILLS CANCER CELLS WITH OUT ANY SIDE EFFECTS AND CAN BE USED AS A PROPHYLACTIC AGAINST CANCER. JESUS LOVES YOU ❤❤❤😊
Who tf hacks a hospital?
Hi ! Yeah , could u get an official second medical opinion ; like from another health care system doctor ? Best to discuss with another clinical professional. Or u could change doctors all together. Good luck .
Agreed Seth. We appraise the information as best we can and make the decision that's right for us. It's your body after all; trite to say, but hell, we've got to drag the damn thing around at the end of the day. Wishing you the best.
Read the studies done in the EU where healthcare is not for profit, I have read studies where it was shown that 12 cycles only had a couple of percentage points of advantage over 8 cycles in 5 year survival rates, and that they determined that those couple of percentage points were not worth the added toxicity or added long term side effects of 12 cycles. What ever you decide you will be tested with blood test and CT scans over the next five years, and if it comes back it will be caught very early while still curable. I had stage 3 and only had 8 cycles and just had my second yearly CT scan that showed NED, they do not know the magic number, 4 could be enough and 12 may not be enough, they just don't know so they use the one size fits all approach. BTW after my 8 cycles of folfox, 25 rounds of radiation, five weeks of oral chemo (Capecitabine), and surgery, I have no real lingering side effects other than some very mild neuropathy in my feet and am now a new and improved version of my old self, I have more strength, endurance, and stamina at 59 than I did in my early 50s or even my 40s. I now work out daily and eat a much more balanced diet, I also do not drink near as much or often as I used too which I think has greatly improved my sleep. Whatever you decide I wish you the best of luck.
Read, google, read, research for yourself. Get multiple opinions if you want to survive the cancer and medical machine. I am a 17 year stage 4 cancer survivor and if I had listened to only one source I would be in the grave. Search for the most published specialist in your type of cancer and read his or hers papers . Good luck and yes there is going to be long term affects. The elk don’t have to worry about me anymore. Anyway stay strong find what you love it helps
All the research I've done leads me to believe that 8 cycles is the point where the cancer dies and anything after that the returns diminish and the side effects increase. Outdoor activity is a huge part of my life and the way it feels like chemo is trashing my body might be worse than what the chances of the cancer returning are.
Your body, your choice ❤

Stay positive
I've had colon cancer, been removed, still have tests, negative, same time diagnosed with stage 4 incurable prostate cancer, all within a two week period back in 2019. Had the chemo, surgery and for prostate, hormone treatment, ongoing. Long story short, mate it is all in your head, you look so healthy physically so be physical big time. I walk and climb 20 miles per week minimum, I genuinely laugh myself through the day and sometimes to sleep at night to the annoyance of my wife. If you feel like you are going to die soon, you will, if you feel like you will live a long time, well it helps the mind fix the body, it works for me, try it for yourself. Laugh as much as you possibly can and then more, it's easier than you think. 5 years after colon tumor removal and prostate hormone treatment and a very very positive outlook on overall life, well still here and still laughing and hiking miles every week. Good luck fella and live like a young thing, it does help, it really really does.
