104 Days since chemo started - looking at reducing the number of cycles

  • Day 104 of chemotherapy. Did my sixth cycle and am seriously debating the cost to benefit of going 12 vs 8 cycles of Folfox. I honestly don't think that 12 is necessary for the stage and level of cancer I had. It had not metastasized to my lymph nodes and had a micro-perforation. It seems that I am being provided a one-size-fits-all approach. Malpractice lawsuits and too many patients prevents physicians from providing the highest level of care possible. When taking everything into consideration and reading several medical studies I am seriously looking at stopping treatment at 8 cycles. If I get cancer again after 8 then it must be my time to go. The longer-term side effects vs the assurance of treatment efficacy are important to me. My quality of life is extremely important to me. I'm not going to just sit on the couch for the rest of my life. I'm not willing to suffer side effects indefinitely. There's a financial incentive for companies to keep giving us treatment. Not everyone involved here is working in the field to help the sick; some of them are doing it for the money and the longer I endure treatment the more money they make.

I am from the UK. I had Cancer in my 30's, now in my late 70's , I still have the scar on the side of my face from where the Cancer was surgically removed. Suggest an Organic Meat, Fish , Poultry and Veg diet with no Sugar/Sugary Foods or Drinks, Bread or Cereals, to improve your health, in essence you are eating a Caveman's diet from 100,000 years ago, no Herbicides, (kills weeds), Insecticides (kills insects), Pesticides (kill Pests) or crops fed with fertilisers, Bread, Cereals or Sugary Foods. Also avoid Geopathic Stress. Cancer can be caused by Geopathic Stress (GS), Earth Energy travels from below ground up to the Cloud Layer and this can cause Cancer if it passes through you where you sleep or you sit during the day, move your bed or chair if necessary. Some plants and trees thrive in areas of GS and other plants die. Dowsers are able to detect GS and some can even neutralise it.

Agreed Seth. We appraise the information as best we can and make the decision that's right for us. It's your body after all; trite to say, but hell, we've got to drag the damn thing around at the end of the day. Wishing you the best.

Read, google, read, research for yourself. Get multiple opinions if you want to survive the cancer and medical machine. I am a 17 year stage 4 cancer survivor and if I had listened to only one source I would be in the grave. Search for the most published specialist in your type of cancer and read his or hers papers . Good luck and yes there is going to be long term affects. The elk don’t have to worry about me anymore. Anyway stay strong find what you love it helps

All the research I've done leads me to believe that 8 cycles is the point where the cancer dies and anything after that the returns diminish and the side effects increase. Outdoor activity is a huge part of my life and the way it feels like chemo is trashing my body might be worse than what the chances of the cancer returning are.

FOLFOX left me with terrible neuropathy. Cancer free but paid a high price. Good luck with your decision..think you are right at stopping with eight.

Thank you. it's a very hard decision but I do think that in my case and scenario it makes sense. I personally believe they don't do the research because they get to charge my insurance thousands of dollars everytime I do a cycle.

Hi ! Yeah , could u get an official second medical opinion ; like from another health care system doctor ? Best to discuss with another clinical professional. Or u could change doctors all together. Good luck .
