How do you remove the watch battery plate?

Is it normal for the big second hand not to move? When I press the pea button it moves, at 12 o'clock it stops. But the small second hand always moves. Thanks for video

Superb review. Just what the viewer needs to know about various methods of unscrewing the watch back. I especially like the test of seeing which methods could unscrew the back that had been tightened by another method. That's a great way to compare them.

I've had a Seiko chrono for many years, but had forgotten how to set the alarm and reset the hands. So, thanks for this video - it's been really helpful.

I may have missed it if you said this; i did notice you using different, I assume plastic tweezers when handling the new capacitor. That's crucial to not short circuit the new capacitor.

Starting from 3:55 : Even its an old empty battery, he seems to be constantly short circuiting the old battery to the case itself with metallic pliers. Dont do this with new battery. That golden color part will be conneted to positive end of the battery, so you do not want that part to connect to the case or anywhere else.

I bought this watch on a random catawiki auction not knowing anything about it a few days ago. This watch is very impressive, first i like how compact it is for a mechanical watch. Beautiful hands and the beat of the movement soumds great. I clicked on this video trying to find how tp change the day to english. I was stunned that it was done by pressing down on the crown. Very cool watch and video to go along with it.

Thanks for this I got my watching working again! the only problem was the gasket seal was broken and I cant find a replacement.

Very helpful. I found sources for the battery/capacitor on line. Greatest problem was unscrewing the back. Watch was dirty after about 15 years in a drawer and was willed to me after he passed. Soaking the watch (still unopened!) and band in an ultrasonic cleaner. Will try some WD-40 on the back to see if it can be unscrewed. I have the complete set of tools from Byniiur Repair Kits and have repaired an old "Hong Cong" Rolex (fake gold) and two Timex watches. This Seiko is a tough nut to crack.

trying this on my table with all sort of thing after i find my c clip inside the case... trying to push it back in make them fly twice, first once bounce near.. second one make me turn pale had to peel my eyes finding it on a very2 veryy crowded desk... still trying to figure out how im gonna do this with lack of tools, skill and eyes..

i have followed this steps for a YT57B Movement, old battery was 0,34V and new is 1,45V, but its not ticking, i have found in the past that some movements require for you to shortcircuit in a specific spot to restart the movement, any idea or suggestion on how to resurrect this old watch?

SEIKO mecha-quartz 8T calibre series able to reset chronograph hands like 7T ? Because I heard that for VK calibre series, (which is identical to 8T but build for other brand than SEIKO) we cannot reset it by ourselves like 7T... it must be done manually by technician since its involves detach and re-attach the actual hands. Is this accurate?
