DIY | Nesting Material Box for Native Birds |
Another way to attract native birds and promote biodiversity other than bird houses or feeders, providing an area with natural materials birds in your area are likely to use may encourage more wildlife activity. Always use natural materials that haven't been exposed to any synthetic or unnatural chemicals.

Dome Window Bird House

Built a few of these bird houses as an interesting way to monitor nesting activity. If you consider building something similar, make sure window is north facing and in a well shaded area to avoid overheating. Make sure your birdhouse has adequate ventilation.

Great design! How many quail do you have??
@dwwhat3852 usually keep about 20 or so in this one at a time. I use the aviary style enclosures more frequently since it's better for the quail and it's less maintenance overall.
@@chrisscottYT thank you!
@dwwhat3852 rule of thumb is about 3 quail per square foot, so I could fit much more in there at a time, but the more quail, the more frequently it needs to be maintained. Lately, I just use this hutch as a grow-out enclosure.
La mia solo come gusanos. No come pienso seco
I have been told not to feed day old chicks to many of them is no good but my ferrets love them what do you think
@michaelcleaver402 chicks are a good source of nutrients, as long as it's not the only thing you're feeding them. They must have a variety of different proteins in their diet.
Ok thanks 👍
You have so much space and nice environment that I wonder why you didn't just build a huge aviary for them, or even multiple of them so that you could rotate them from one to another so that the waist would naturally compost in the aviary which is not currently in use.
@T12J7 I have 2 aviaries. I have a video of one of them and am currently in the process of building another.
@@chrisscottYT Nice. I need to check it out.
Ferrets: I'm not on the keto diet, I on Keto Carnivore Diet
Thanks for sharing this video. I've saved this video & did a screenshot... i will make my coop similar to this. 👍🏾
I use a Sawzall then angle grinder to buzz the nails off
So sweet mine is 8 years old juliana and knue knue mix he weight about 200 but he is the same color
Beautiful pig my pig is sick right now not sure what's wrong put him on antibiotics for urinary track infection he not eating very well but I need to clean his teeth he may have a sore tooth but vet put him on antibiotics I have never cleaned hi teeth he needs it
That block tip is going to be really helpful! I was using a crow bar and hammer to remove nails individually 😅
With the table at 7:40 how many ferrets is that supposed to feed? One?
He loves his ferrets the way I love my rats. 🐀 ❤
So cute ❤❤❤❤❤🐷🐷🐷🐽
👌🏾😎👍🏾👍🏾well done, thanks for sharing👏🏾
Did you get bats this spring? You did a great job. I loved your simple design and use of shou sugi ban. My concern was two-fold: bat pups often die in mesh and the roost opening seemed large enough for other animals to raid it with beaks or paws and large enough to accommodate a wasp nest. The ideal roost gap is 3/4 inch.
Do you have problems with rodents trying to get in? What about a litterbox in there? Do u put one in there?
NO animal ever should eat kibble... That is abuse
First time I see a bat house being sanded and painted. Thought they liked rough surfaces
I challenge you to a duel for the name! Kidding haha, awesome build, thanks for some ideas!
How many pallets did you use?
16 pallets for the frame, around 60 total counting the frame and the boards used from other pallets.
This is too much for me 😮😮
I desperately need to build something like this for my ferrets but I don’t know where to start!
This is Awesome
What ratio are they fed on mate
The percentage ratios are based on a weekly regimen. If you're feeding whole prey frequently, you don't need to be as concerned measuring out the bone/meat/organ ratios.
@chrisscottYT I feed my mainecoon cat an dog on 75/15/10 an make my own would this be OK do you recon for the ferrets we are getting at the weekend
@adampoulter5240 As far as the ferrets go, following this regimen would suffice for their diet. It's important to make sure they are getting a variety of bones/meat/organ within the right ratios to make sure their nutritional requirements are being fulfilled. Feeding a raw diet that isn't balanced can be dangerous if they're deprived of the proper nutrients, but done correctly, it is the best means of nutrition as nature intended. If you want to avoid the meal prep, balanced freeze dried raw or whole prey is the way to go.
Awesome build
Hi what Breed is that ?
Beagle and Great Pyrenees.
Is she a rabbit dog?
She is not an active working dog, but beagles are the breed you would use for rabbit hunting.
@@chrisscottYT I own beagles mine run rabbits your dog have a beautiful voice
Literally a dinosaur 🦖
Wow, I'd love to build something like this is awesome 😮
Cute little things ❤
Soo tinyyyy ❤
They are so adorable!!!!
Looks nice. How is it as far as egg collection?
Not bad, although collecting isn't as convenient in comparison to the roll-out hutch, I prefer the aviary style enclosure as it's much less maintenance.
@@chrisscottYT Yeah I built the wire roll outs for egg and meat production, but I'm switching to aviary. I kept a bunch on ground, in a rabbit hutch initially, and those birds were so much happier in their element. Hate seeing them on wire. I ain't trying to torture a creature that gives me so much. They should be as happy as I can provide. I did see that people will have a bump out nest box, with lid, where you can collect eggs... That's what's up. Thank you for sharing , keep on keepin on brother. Peace.
lol bye cute turkey
Very nice. Simple and efficient. Thanks!
Nice setup!
Cool, thanks
❤😂 what a fancy toothbrush
Appreciate the quail content! I'm in the finishing stages of building our quail aviary, and wanted to build a more robust growout cage- this is almost exactly what i had in mind, with a few features I hadn't considered yet. This is also the first I've heard that the coating on the HW cloth can retain the poop. I've read the galvanized can rust quickly from the acidic droppings. Do you think a pressure washer would have trouble with the vinyl coated hardware cloth?
I use a pressure washer to clean out this hutch. Just be careful not to put the nozzle too close to the vinyl hardware cloth if you go that route. Overall, the material is quite durable, and I haven't experienced any issues with the pressure washer causing any damage.
@@chrisscottYT Awesome, much appreciated 👍
Did you have a video how do you do the outdoor environment for your ferrets step by step please thanks
Whow, thank you so much for the video. I always struggle with cleaning my ferrets' ears as they seem to know what I'm going to do 🫣😏I alway took them when they were running around and playing. Gosh, try to clean there ears, they go ballistic 🫣
Wow! This was super informative. Thanks so much for all the info. I heard that ferrets get a lot of wax build up but never knew how to go about cleaning it. 🙏
Thank you for sharing this.
Yes you are so correct 💯 👍
I've tried many methods to get my ferret to eat meat but she never even nibble it. Just looked at me crazy. She does eat small amounts of egg yoke thought.
So they ARE noodle cats
Obligate carnivores..... this means all you vegetarians who would force your cat or dog to be a vegetarian leave the ferrets alone.. just because it will eat a veggie diet doesn't mean that it won't kill them
Just like babies. Humans are free to choose vegan if they want after 18, but babies NEED their normal rich diets! Btw, yes, vegan duets for kids, if they don't supply with crucial needed vitamins and minerals, it IS abuse and the child will be taken away if found out
I got a ferret in high school. I worked all summer to buy Fred his giant cage and I was so happy. What I didn't know was that they are carnivorous and we kept the ferret in the same room as my sister's Guinea pigs. Fred learned to open his cage. Fortunately my mom rescued it from him. It lost an ear, not its life but yes, it is a VERY important detail to have lol.
