Chesky Audio LC1 -The Review - The Only Speaker You Should Buy for $1000 Bucks !
After spending two weeks with the LC1. I did my “critical listening”. Tubes, Transistor’s, GaN FETS. Pick your poisons. These Speakers bring out the best in these Amps.
Also great for reviewing DAC’s with now that I have four at my disposal. Using the DOUK Audio XLR Switchers to compare their strengths and weaknesses if any.

75th Anniversary Atlantic 90125 45rpm/The Yes Album and Fragile Atmos & LP Reviews
I look forward to hearing these at a local event sometime soon.
Nice!! I’m moving back to Phoenix at the end of the month and I also have a pair of BMR Monitors on the way!! Dennis is a legend!!
Drop me an email rajugsw@gmail.com and I'll get you my contact info. Awesome tha you are moving here.
Anyone out there who can help me improve I have a Marantz 60 with Paradigm 9 v2 towers Fluance turntable what do I add to elevate my sound
I have some Cornwall iv I just got. Just curious, what amp are you using? I've been using these shit audio ones for a little bit. I kind of want to upgrade. Any suggestions?
@@barryhallsack8852 I used to run Black Ice Audio F100’s and they sounded the best on the horns and had great Bass. Amps are for sale if interested. Let me know here. rajugsw@gmail.com I also ran Orchard Audio Ultra Amps with solid Silver wire in the audio paths of the Amp.
@joeygsaudiochannel3972 thank you for the reply. I'll look into those amps.
People record their voice in spoken reviews and think the recording sounds perfectly natural. But they claim stereo speakers can absolutely not be recorded. But aren't good stereo speakers supposed to sound just like a human voice? ruclips.net/video/veceqM_D2Do/видео.html
NOPE !!!!!! You will NEVER "hear" how a Loudspeaker "sounds" on this Channel unless its for fun only (e.g my recent Bose "Short"). Sorry Bro. Buy a pair (there's a money back trial period of course) - check the Chesky Audio website for those details.
What’s wrong with Bluesound? I use my Node to a Geshelli Labs DAC and it works great.
Mine was fine but after it died after a firmware update. They did nothing to help me out. Yes, it was out of warranty but they could have given me a discount on a new one. They didn’t and Cambridge Audio did ! And I wasn’t even a customer of theirs but I am NOW !!! Thanks for your support and watching the video. Happy New Year Mark 🎉.
these are very interesting speakers
That’s what I thought too at CAF. We need to support young engineers and entrepreneurs like Lucca and so many other next gen engineers if we want to see the audio industry take a step forward.
Nice speakers.
How do these compare to the revels BE bookshelf?
No clue.
Joey, I started ripping my CDs. What setup do you have for streaming your own .flac/.wav files.
I use Roon with an Apple MacMini (M1 processor). After Audirvanna gave me shit support when I had a hard drive crash a few years ago. I bit the bullet and went Roon. Did the 3 month trial and then went into debt and am doing a 12 month payment plan (with interest....Fuck) for a lifetime Roon license.
@joeygsaudiochannel3972 Roon is great but I don't intend to use streaming services. 😕 I'm really looking for a bit perfect streaming.. I'm going full in on physical media.
@@stackoverflow8260Roon is bitperfect as is audirvana.
@joeygsaudiochannel3972 150$ lifetime on audiirvana is tempting, and they have Linux support.
I gotta email Lucca and ask for a pair. Great video. Thx buddy.
You're gonna like 'em Ed.
DIY amp ArgentPur (Starkrimson Ultra Amp Module with Mundorf) with MicroAudio Cobra-S1 SMSPS? And silver wires.
Yep. But I used an old Demo pair. ArgentPur now sells a smaller chassis with an 800W DC Power supply with enough Capacitance to drive the Orchard Audio Ultra's to their rated 500W@4 ohm rating.
4K video now!
Always iPhone15XPro. I can't afford a real Video Camera.
What does it matter . 4k who cares , it's the review not how pretty he looks
@@Lovelacewatkins139 Now we can appreciate how handsome Joey is. And the dogs! 🤠
John Marks and I listened critically to a new pair of BMR monitors in that gorgeous Rosewood finish this week in his new small apt. (See upcoming review in Fremer's The Tracking Angle.) With a good DAC and Grace Pre, but with a mundane amp and generic Cu cables the initial presentation in the nearfield was congested with discontinuities apparent among the drivers. The top octave wasn't there, making me wonder how anyone could describe these as insightful and too bright. We then swapped in ArgentPur Monoblocs, Speaker and RCA cables, and the transformation was extraordinary. The mids cleaned up, but as importantly the top opened up to portray a very fine soundstage with extremely clean deatail and no touch of fatiguing brightness. It was easy to get lost in the music. Test tone at 32Hz proved solid and clean, with no chuffing. The largish-size bookshelf cabinet is clearly designed to disappear, and though just reasonable in knuckle-rap tests on all panels, exuded no boxy reveals. We both agreed that these BMRs clearly perform well above their pay grade, but benefit...and deserve...to be cleanly powered and cabled. They are extremely linear on axis and in-room, and seem to allow listening anywhere bewteen the two upper driver axes, such that perhaps 20 to even 28" stands can work, as we had them on a table on midrange axis, and they passed repeated sit-stand tests surprisingly well. These are NOT hot-spot dispersions!, indicating the expected excellence of Dennis' crossover work. The finish on the stock Rosewood cabinets was superb, lending the appearance of $5k+ monitors. True excellent 3-way performance for a song. Do they need a sub? Not at all with moderate SPLs of all acoustic instruments, as the 32Hz test tone confirmed the satisfying portrayal of full orchestra and organ recordings...even with that smallish woofer high off the floor. I'm now curious to hear the Towers someday. At 20" tall they're big for so-called monitors, but are too easy to recommend as eng-game performance for mid-budget systems. Just be sure to pair them with excellent ancillaries that allow them a clean window to shine through. (Caveat: I'm ErnieM of ArgentPur.audio)
Herb R didn’t like them?
@@commane21 Yeah. If you do a search on Google. He pretty much had the same thoughts. Ron Brenay lent me these for a month to break in for him and he didn’t care for them either and never posted a review. Gorgeous cabinetry though. Can’t argue that.
Great videoComing to the game late here, been on a curiosity rabbit hole dive about interesting 3-way builds (and 2-ways with ribbon) and just keep coming back to these. I know you said you had the Alyssa’s before some treatment, but do you think the BMR’s can get close to that level of speaker? Love where you’re coming from either your speaker choices 👍🏼🙏🏼
The BMR's surpass the Alyssa by a Country mile ! I say that because in my room at the time and with the electronics I had on hand. The Treble was soft and the Bass needed a little help. Using miniDSP, I added a slight boost above 10kHz and another mild boost below 100Hz. Other Speakers (LS50 Meta's, Triangle BR03's, PMC TB2's, KEF R3's, and of the Philaharmonic BMR's required no EQ'ing of any sort to sound nice in my room. So yeah, if I had pick between them, BMR's for the Win ! Thanks for watching and your support.
@ Thank you !🙏🏼
So exciting that these are Made in the USA in addition to them being very good and affordable!
Thank you John for watching. Yes, this is Speaker that is worth supporting not just because of all the Tech and the Name. Most importantly, they sound good and to my ears better the competition at this price point.
Of all the video reviews I’ve watched on Galion amplifiers Joey G your comments along with the comment section said a lot . I just about pulled the trigger on the.120LE I’m sure it is everything reviewers say about it ,…However I changed direction I think a great performing tube amplifier with the Galion A75 will be my choice,.
Note I couldn’t edit my comment, it should have read ,,.”Great performing tube preamplifier” with the Galion A 75,..
How nice that Sandy had some input on these!
I agree. Now some may call this a “poor man’s BRX”. But that’s not a fair comparison either. I have listened to BRX’s at a club event a few years ago and they were my favorite second to the Sonus Faber $10k stand mount speakers with their integrated stands. Lucca’s Speakers are bit more refined but can still “fill” a room with Bass without focusing on that. The Bass kicks in when required by the music. Lucca has asked me to add my Subs to his Speakers and document the comparison. I will for sure. Thx for watching and your support.
too much bla bla... have sample audio
NO !!!!! I WILL NEVER DO SAMPLED AUDIO. It’s total bullshit and absolutely NO Representation of they actually sound like. Now, I will do sound samples for fun only. But it’s rare. Like the Bose 901 Video short I did recently.
@@joeygsaudiochannel3972 Yep it has about as much representation as listening to someone else talk about the sound of a speaker in their room oh wait..
@@RennieAsh Yep...and that's all you'll ever get from me and a whole host of other YT'er's
These are design principles that needed to have been implemented for some time now, but nobody cares to make possible at a budget: 3D print tech, modern (yet affordable) materials, thoughtful, scientifically sound design, money on a smart and simple crossover, and a great ear. Probably not irony that it took a passionate young next gen designer/musician to make it so 👍🏼🎶
As I've repeated over an over again. This is exactly what the Audio World is lacking at the moment. Using this tech, GAN-FET, DAC's that are affordable yet compete with the "Big Guys". Reviews coming soon. I also posted my 1st impressions Video a few days ago. Thanks for watching and your support.
I have the Borea Triangle 9's, with Yamaha RN 1000A Amp, never looked back since purchased January 2024. Total cost = £2300.00 or $2800.00 YOU get what you PAY for !
This is very true and I preferred the BRO series Tweeter over the 40th. Anniversary horn that’s really ugly to look at and is a treble heavy.
Good scope on the rest of us. Merry Christmas my friend.
Thank you Ed. Merry Christmas to you as well.
Stupid labia
Node Sound no mo!
Your Node couldn't go on without Cornwalls anymore. That overwhelming despair caused it to end things with you and the rest of the world. 😔
What ?? Could not go with cornwalls ? Well ....being that the node 2i sounds a bit dark , and on the warm side ( which would be ideal for any horn speaker) i would say check the rest of your system ! Amplifier - speaker sinergy ????? And why destroy it , buy good dac and " problem " solved !
Hockey? In Arizona?
He's a Dualy (American Born but Canadian raised) 🤣
I need to find myself a pair of 901s just because.
Thanks Mike. Funny how ALL the Dumbass RUclips Videos and crappy Audio clips from other "RUclipsrs" and mine are always ignored except that I did with Thomas & Stere during COVID over 4 years ago. Find either series 1 or 2 901's that are sealed box without the EQ (miniDSP from Amazon will work better than factory). Also NO FOAM ROT !!! Series 3 thru Series 6 v1 all have the dreaded foam rot issue and it'\s more work than its worth. I have several EQ curves for the Series 1 901's that are easy to edit. If you find a pair you are interested in, send me the ad, and I'll easily tell you if you're gonna ripped off or not. Merry Christmas Brother !
Why his present amps being only class AB,using relatively cheap surface mounted components/automated soldering-(important regarding the life of SMD capacitors) are so idiotically expensive?Looks like another enterprise to fail.
What the Fuck Dude ? He's using SMT components in his DAC's and some line level stuff. I asked that question but he uses mostly throughole components in general. Also I worked in Electronic Engineering and Manufacturing for 20 years ! I worked on mostly SMT based circuits in the RF Industry. Also, I and anyone else show you doing a TDR Measurement that SMT components transition better on a PCB than do throughole. And you can get better tolerance components using SMT that you can using throughhole. BUT on critical Audio Path components. I agree with you that throughole Caps (and maybe some Resistors should be used). Also Printed Circuit Board Audio Designs are ALWAYS more reliable, easy to work on, less noisy than any throughole point to point wired Piece of Shit that's out there ! JoeyG Out....Thanks for watching and your Support... 🤣
I like the thumbnail 😊. I'm actually excited for this, may bring some neat designs
Thanks, Man ! I stole it online 🤣.Yeah. I'm thinking the same thing. It's gonna be interesting to watch that's for sure.
DSD over DAC is already better than on optical disc, the bandwith of an SSD or even an SD card IS by far superior to any opto or magneto mecanical device, so now we can talk about true Analog recording over RAW DSD beyond 5 MHz but it's already overkill, as a musician and studio Rat i need an incredible device able to record on AKM chip and actualy there only RME and Tascam with Neve and Prism converter that work on stereo, only Merging technology with Horus and Pyramix system are the only DAW with Sadie Sonoma that Can record multichanel DSD and master it , we need another game changer and high res mic able to delivered that performance or any recording became bullshit , especialy with tape source that are unable to perform as good as true DSD native...
🌽🧱😳 Why and how come?
Final Audio Electrostatic Speakers. I’ve always wanted Maggie’s or Martin Logan but buying either Speaker is a crapshoot because of the flaws. Push a Maggie too far and the ribbons can be deformed. Only the Factory can do the repairs. Same goes for Martin Logan regarding panel arcing of the Electrostatic panel. I love the fast attack and decay (especially on Cymbals) of these Speakers. But not the headaches over time. Final-Audio solves all these problems without breaking the Bank too much. They have a Canadian Deealer/Distributor but here in the U.S., they are still direct to market via my friend here in Phoenix. Made in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 and available here in the U.S. final-audio.com/products/model-12/ ruclips.net/video/HvDbBoYoCnA/видео.htmlsi=EcdCzq13OYqrT82v ruclips.net/video/e-d2xA1JMmg/видео.htmlsi=Z895HRJbilmeqpOx
Funny I have Maggies and easily push them to 90+ db, no issues on my end.
@@dajikbatarang1The Maggie’s I’ve heard are old one’s upwards of 20 years old. They sound fine and then at certain frequencies, you’ll hear distortions. The owners of these Maggie’s are aware of the issues and just live with it. But then I’ve heard new Maggie’s that sound amazing AT ALL FREQUENCIES. Now that Final is back in the hands of the original owner/designers, I trust their quality control has improved over the Philips days. And it’s nice that if they need servicing. The parts come from the Netherlands and the rep here in Phoenix can do the repairs.
@ ya mine are a current model. Having subs that are actively crossed over really lets the panel do more when low bass duties are handed off to them.
horrible information, wish I could rewind and get back the time I wasted watching this crappy video
Some cool stuff coming up, man! Excited for you to get your new speakers AND for the channel to hit 2k subs!
Thanks man. If I took my channel and Pimped cheap Chinese Crap, I'd easily be at 20k Subs by now 😆
No doubt 😂 DoukAndFosiMan
@@JordanPhegley 😆
Correct me if I'm wrong but McIntosh has been self owned since 1990.So nothing will change at all!😊
I'd have to do some homework but they owned Audio Research (or was it the parent company of both). In the end, you are correct but they will kill any McIntosh Speakers and focus those efforts on Sonus Faber. As to the "new" 901 that was released prior to the takeover. It's fake news. There is no "new" 901 and will there ever be is very hard to say. But Mac will persevere and Bose will help them carry on. One thing for sure Mac's "Lifestyle" products will/should get a much needed kick in the Arse with Bose technology. Also people shouldn't crap on Bose Tech creeping into Mac products. Remember who bought who while why are all still speculating why. Good comment and thanks for watching.
Great stuff here. Love it. Anytime the market can get shuffled around we love it . Looks great. Thanks for giving props to the professor. Ill be honest these pillars of knowledge are where we can get a foothold. Well done. Great pricing.
love your stuff man. keep it up.
Thx man !
By the power of Joey G’s dog’s A@#…Poof new subscriber! 😂
Thank you Brother. Once I 2k Subs after 5.5 year on YT. I'll be doing a YT Livestream and get shit faced like I did two years ago.
Trump wins the presidency; Elon is buying MSNBC? 😮 And now Bose is buying McIntosh??? 🙄😝
That's too funny !
The tariffs angle is an interesting one to think about. Mac is mostly made in the USA. Think also about what will happen when China invades Taiwan. Tons of parts for audio equipment are made there. Every manufacturer in the world will be shut down for a year or four while that war happens. That's the future but the present day thoughts are that Mac and Sonus are high end brands suffering a lull in sales as people struggle to make ends meet under Biden. We are slowly rebounding but credit card debt is at an all time high.
Excellent observations. If Sonus Faber is forced to manufacture here in the U.S. Then McIntosh will have to retool and get all that inventory moved here or have two factories setup. One here in the U.S. and of course Italy for the rest of the World. Bose of course has the Capital to make this happen but it doesn’t sound profitable. Unlike VW with identical factories in Germany & Mexico.
this from a historical Mac dealer from the Gordon Gow days. Mac has never been the same since the Clarion days, MY OPINION, Mac is mediocre high end electronics with GREAT marketing, they are non competative with any of the REAL high end electronics, the only thing they have in common with REAL mac are the big blue meters. This is a marriage made in heaven, Mediocre Speakers, headphones, mid fi with GREAT marketing married to a mediocre Hi Fi product with GREAT marketing, now you can buy mediocre speakers and electronics from a GREAT marketing company and spend a ton of money doing it. Spend a lot and get very little, perfection!!!
Nice cropping your shot,,, you're drowning in the frame 😂😂😂😂 swim Forest swim !😂😂😂
Funny!
Should make no difference so long as they let the Mc group do their thing.
Hi. It’s called “standard of living.” Thanks!
Yeah. That’s what happens when I do these things “off the cuff”. Thx Man !
