I had hoped to travel in 2020. We all know what happened next. But, thanks to the likes of @noelphilips, whose entire catalog I watched during COVID, as well as @GreenerGrass, @Paul_Lucas, @theplanesguy, @thejazzguy13, @steve-marsh, @simply_aviation, and a host of others I've watched before (and since!), I've become inspired to kick the tires on my own travel vlog channel. US Airways Airbus A330 P@ssport (AVOD) System Intro Video
On our way back from San Juan, PR in 2002, we flew one of US Airways' then-almost-new Airbus A330-300s (N675US, to be specific, which was recently scrapped) to Philadelphia, in part because of the seatback monitors with Audio/Video On Demand (AVOD). Known and marketed as the Sony P@ssport system, these systems are commonplace today, but was a new, somewhat revolutionary offering at the time.
Being the avgeek I was (and still am), I recorded the video which played as the system was loading, as well as some of the tutorial, never knowing I'd upload it to a website called RUclips 22 years later.

4:39 got curious and looked up tge plane you were on, the exact one (N6711M) when I checked was operating as Delta 2978 MCO-ATL!!
Ha! I flew through Atlanta on Friday and saw it taxiing in.
Stunning! I spend many days spotting in the Aeroparque and even though it is still fascinating, it doesn't compare to the glory days of the AA hub. Would like to see more SJU videos!

I was at Paris airport as a 5 year old in Jan 2001 after staying 100 days in chamonix! Got the TGV from Lyon to CDG. and then flew qantas from CDG TO SIN.

I know this was 2001, but seeing these old videos and photos makes me realize how much I miss liveries like the Delta 80s widget (on the first 757, the 727, the 767 that was landing), the United Saul Bass white with orange/blue stripe and the tulip, etc. Just like every aircraft now has twin wing-mounted engines and conventional tails, the liveries aren't as interesting or diverse as they used to be.
It's certainly gotten more and more bland. At least there's RUclips!
Wow, just stumbled upon this. So odd but kinda cool to see a trip report style vlog sorta thing from so long ago, and I know people have said this already but wow, a pre-9/11 one too. That's nuts. Based on your age you provided in the description, I was a bit younger than you in 2001 and I flew a lot too when I was younger (family took me w/ them in their travels and whatnot). Wish I had something like this! I didn't have my first digital cam until Post-9/11 though so there was no way for me to have anything on record. Interesting that they let you into the cockpit.
They were OK with letting kids into the cockpit even after 9/11. I asked permission to film, though, as that wasn't fully approved for takeoff and landing, though.

I grew up in the northeastern US in the 90s and early 2000s, and my family would fly down to visit our relatives in the south or to WDW in Florida about once or twice a year. Then in 2003, we moved to Florida, and since we could now easily drive all the places we used to fly, I didn't get on a plane again until 2018. So it's always a nostalgia trip to see all the old liveries and airlines that aren't around anymore in videos from around that time. Thanks for uploading!

Love everything about this. My absolute earliest flight memories consisted of me flying in and out of Atlanta on Deltaflot Md-80’s in the 2000’s and this really takes me back.

Good to see those 727-200's in the fleet at this time period. I believe Delta also received 727's with their Northeast merger in the early 1970's. My very first flight was on a Delta 727-200 from JFK to MIA way back in February 1976. This first flight got me hooked on airplanes and Delta. Great to see part 2. Thanks for posting.
They did, though I'm not sure any of those were still in the fleet at this point. It's interesting to see the lineage of their 727s. I know they had at least one or two from Eastern.

This brings me back. I grew up in Atlanta after moving there in '98 as a kid. My dad worked for Delta and all of our extended family was in California, so we'd fly out there a few times a year. Seeing the way this airport was back in 01 as well as the onboard experience (from the upholstery to the drop-down CRTs and Delta Horizons) is just bringing back a ton of memories from this era. Thanks for having the foresight to document all this for us.
I think the CRTs by the exits were dropped down partially, but the rest of them were fixed!

I flew on N913DL 5 days before she was retired. She was the 2nd oldest MD-88 in the fleet. I had to get one last day of flying on the MD-88 in before they were retired. Flew KIAD - KATL on N913DL in the morning and back on N916DL that evening.
My last MD-88 flight was in September 2019- I had no idea at the time.

I can't remember off-hand but, either way, security was TSA-like.
And yet, that same exact 757 N652DL is still in service for Delta.

Just did a quick search: N652DL (the 757 featured in this video) is still actively in service with Delta. This past December I photographed her fleet sister N650DL another 757 from this era also still in service with Delta.
