I think if either Rhys or myself had been alone behind you, we'd probably have a better chance of passing you, but because we were both there we couldn't risk going too offline and leaving the door open. Thanks! It was a fun race, even though I didn't drive anywhere near my best. There was some good racing with a couple of the others.

My quickest in this race was 31.816. FL of the race was Tommy - 31.659. Over the four races, my FL were 31.8/31.9.

@@chrislove5884 I think it would've been speed 4, yes. 15 minute races in traffic don't really unleash the full potential of speed 4 though. If I'm honest, I'm actually preferring speed 3 right now, because the boost button is more effective and there's opportunity to use it in different places and feel the gains against other drivers.

HI! It's hard to say if all karts in one session are on the same battery level. Generally, there'll be 32 karts in the pitlane. 16 of those go out on track, whilst the other half charge for the next session, so they should all spend the same amount of time charging. I can confirm that the power drop off when the battery is very low is very obvious, so up until that point, the karts tend to be even. other than that, there's always going to be a small difference across the fleet as some karts are bound to have been smashed into barriers on public sessions etc.

Yes mate, same here. Tbh, Tommy Shaw is driving so well atm that I'm not unhappy to be in a different weight category 🤣 Middles is going to be more competitive than ever this year though!

Hi! Yes, the standard speed is 'Speed 3' - this is used on all public sessions, like arrive and drive, 50 lap race etc. Speed 4 is used on members sessions, such as Thursday race events & Monday 3 for 2. Naturally for BIKC, we had Speed 4. The lap time difference looked to be about 0.5 seconds.

Ahh mate, it's fine! To be honest, a small part of me wondered if we were racing for position at the end of the race. It gets so confusing with the kart swap, especially for some reason with the electric karts. Nonetheless, you were extremely hard to get past so you should be proud of how well you defended 👊 always a pleasure racing you mate.

Hey, thanks! The electric karts on Speed 4 can go anywhere between 18-25 minutes and, as the marshals tried to run the race as a one- stopper, we began to run out of battery! Lol

Hi! Yes, I agree. The way penalties are applied needs to be sorted. It seems like the marshals often used the red flags as an excuse to not apply penalties to individual drivers. It wasn't really fair. Hopefully next year they will improve. It does also seem to be a thing with Leeds, in particular. I'd be surprised if they host a regional final next year.

@@preecelightnin5795 i have had that same conversation abouts Leeds hosting regionals next year before!! One of the juniors parents had emailed about everything that happened on the day, and last time i saw them, they hadn't even responded. Not good at all!!!

Hi there! I wasn't there to watch your races, as you'd have been on the Saturday and I raced on the Sunday. Well done for reaching the Regionals. 9th is a good overall result. By that point, you've already gone further than many do! Better luck for next year. 💪

Yeah, thanks Ryan. Looking back at the footage, my kart wasn't even that great - losing time to karts ahead on the straights - but I still felt good in it and could still fight. The red flag rules are frustrating, yet I could tolerate them if people were punished post-race because at least it's not a free pass. I think it's something that needs addressing next year for sure. Still, you did very well this year too and hopefully Nottingham can get even more drivers to Nationals in '24!

@@preecelightnin5795 a marshal told us they’ve removed the pulley system that allowed gradual brake pressure to a laser activated one or something, which only allows full braking and doesn’t allow any throttle too

Yeah, so these particular electric karts are actually Watford's old fleet. We were supposed to get brand new ones, but Watford got them instead! Lol. Even so, the karts are excellent, very fun to drive and overall, a very positive feeling about going electric ⚡

@@preecelightnin5795 Yes the older style karts do not have the electric switch on the brake pedal. The electric switch is annoying as any slight tap, bump or touching of the brake pedal cuts the engine. It cuts in if pedal is touched by 2mm , while hydraulic braking doesn’t come into play until 2.5cm depressing of the pedal. Any slight bump in the surface ie sudden up ramp or foot tapping on pedal cuts the engine.

Hey man! 34.3 is a respectable time, especially if you don't go too often. If you want to improve, I would suggest getting the social membership - it's really cheap - and entitles you to entry to Monday Night Social sessions, where you're on track with other casual members. This tends to be better for achieving faster times as you're naturally on track with higher standard drivers. You'll almost certainly improve. If you're confident after that, Club or Elite membership will put you in race events with other members, and this is where you'll find you best improvements. I speak from experience! Bear in mind, tyre temperatures, air temps (weather) and whether the track has been busy... all these factors affect lap time. On Speed 3 (the setting public visitors get) it took us members a short while to reach under the 33s mark, so you're actually not far off at all. Keep on pushing, mate! I'll be uploading some new lap record videos over the coming days.

Hi there! So when you're heading back down the ramp to the right turn at the back, you don't need to lift. The new karts, on speed setting 3, pretty much max out on speed at the bottom of the ramp. Take a really wide entry, stay committed through the corner. With the current temperature, the grip is there to stay flat out! 👊

Hi there! Well with the new front and rear tyres fitted, there's no need to brake for turn 1. Approach wide, perhaps a slight jerk of the wheel as you cross the start/finish line, and basically you should get the kart pointing the right way for the corner. You can go full throttle around there, but keep committed for turn 2. Good luck! 😊
