Mortal Kombat 2 Arcade PCB Sound Board Repair - Shorted To Ground Accidentally
Hello, thank you very much for all the information I have provided you. I have a cabinet with a Hantarex 9110 monitor. the colors are good But I have a problem: there are small explosions on the screen that are noticeable and disturbing when you look closely. I made a video to explain the problem. ruclips.net/user/shortsEvEF_RArXTQ?si=lIdx4fkatM5_v0Mi What do you think it could be? Have you had any experience with this before?

I have recover STR3130 from old firm, i think they are original do you think i must throw them or try to sell them ? At what price?
I have a 21 in Apple studio monitor that appears to have flyback issues, am I totally screwed or is there something I can do?
Is the gnd off the PSU also connected to the Earth GND? I have a frankenstein of a cab, it’s a Naomi universal, custom tube bolted on the frame, CRT and chassie GND are connected to the metal frame (chassie GND?) which is the same point as Earth GND. Is this an issue?
Depends on the power supply but it’s supposed to be internally. Not every supply is like that though so a jumper is ideal.
@ Sweet! Thanks for the vids. Love em! 👌🏻
Truly appreciate these videos, Mike! Your concise insights into common fail points are absolutely priceless. Thanks for offering your expertise to those of us still learning.
Glad I can help!
I have a UMK3 board that when it boots and goes into attract mode it says midway presents and skips the UMK3 screen where shao kahn laughs and it goes straight into the quick cuts of the characters fighting. board works great other wise. Have you ever seen this?
What revision is it?
@@MikesArcadeMonitorRepair It is 1.2. What’s weird is if I plug it in my mK1 it shows up. I thought it might be a weird voltage problem but I checked and they are locked in.
Hmm. Switch test in the menu show any stuck buttons?
@ 👍 ill check when I get home
@@MikesArcadeMonitorRepair Coin one was stuck to on. Weird that it would skip that little part of the intro because of that. Thank you for the help 👍.
Nice find man. Thanks for sharing. I am finding r120 to be open or wayyy out of spec on nearly every k7400/k7500/u5000/u2000 chassis that comes across my bench as a non working board. I now check that component everytime.
I would love you to fix mines
Would this work the opposite way? Would a mrcft252 work in a Neotec 2515C?
Technically, yes.
Hermoso!!! Felicitaciones. ¿Cómo se quita las rayas del monitor ?? Puliendo??? Encontré uno de esos en la basura jajaja saludos
👏👏🤝🤝
Where your solder sucker..
Don’t forgot to buy a MisterPi, they just came out, it will be revolutionary
Awesome fix
So i bought a 2005 Golden Tee fore…zero problems. That said will upgrading to an lcd monitor with a converter to hdmi be a worthwhile upgrade?
LCD is not considered an upgrade. It’s actually a downgrade. For reliability and long term playability, sure.
The k4600 is by far my least favorite monitor chassis. It can give a really nice picture but man it’s just a pain
I have a Mr. Do Neotec NT-1915 that's having some issues. Any chance you can take a look at some pictures and maybe give me your thoughts? Thank you!
I have done done this in my Nintendo Vs. Cabinet. I also purchased the sound and color board needed. After install, picture has gotten better messing with settings. But screen will black out and have lines go across during game play. Any advice?
Sounds like a PCB or voltage issue
What value does have the C40? i get a identical one and that electrolytic capacitor start smoking after some minutes working.
Hey mike! great video. You actually may have just helped me dial in my san francisco rush cab. And you didnt even mean to. Cab fires up with visible rastor lines but no video output. The ONE part of the video i needed more footage of you didnt cover! Haha the thick grey video feed wire... what is that? where does it go?
Awesome. Can you give me a time stamp?
@@MikesArcadeMonitorRepair 21:53 when my cab turns on it looks identical to the monitor in the video when the rastor lines are full brightness... im wondering if maybe the video wire you mentioned may be unplugged? Thanks for replying so fast!
Hmm. I didn’t hear/see a gray wire mentioned at 21:53. You’re welcome!
@ it was the "video signal wire" it showed up right after the frame cut you did cause you needed 2 hands
@@MikesArcadeMonitorRepair sorry 22:34
Hi Mike, can you clarify if its a 40 or 100W bulb you use? I'm sure ive heard you say both in previous videos.
It's a 60W incandescent bulb.
Very helpful Thank you
You’re welcome!
I have a Primal Rage that only the Characters are Jittery/Distorted. Would the Resistor fix that issue?
No. Sounds like a PCB issue.
There is one character that comes in clear as a bell. So this is why I think it's a connection or display issue. I'm wondering if the converter that's in it is wired correctly...
Thanks Mike! Yet another video that saved me plenty of time and headache!
Great!
Nice video! I am having trouble putting my k4600 back in my galaxian cabinet. I removed the RGBY wires from the board side and wrote down the pins they go to. Somehow the notes I took were lost and am trying to figure out which pins go to which color. If you could help I’d be very grateful.
awesome vidz and vibe Mike ❤ hope you will end up playing with the cursed sanwa 29e31s to make an episode or two
Thanks to your video and Mike's arcade... I finally got my Donkey Kong arcade machine, all rebuilt, runs, and looks great. Keep up the good work.
Nice to see a differrnet chassis type repair.
Mike, thank you so much for this! I am about to buy an APB that’s in very nice condition except that it has an LCD. I was dreading having to hunt down a medium res monitor for it, but your setup should allow me to source a big standard K7000 or similar and get my game back to CRT glory. Thank you!
Sweet! Let me know if it works out for you. You’re welcome!
Smeggin awesome repair Mike !
Thank you.
Thanks for the video! I have this board in a Chewlix cabinet I purchased and been trying to figure out what the purpose of it is. What should I actually use this board for? Still kinda confused.
I love those Italian chassis. They don’t suffer the same overheating fate as the polo. Wish the polo had that same fan. Great vid
Do you happen to have the part numbers or links to those adjustment pegs? I’m pretty sure you posted the links in another video, but I’ve been looking and haven’t been able to find that video again.

I have a centipede arcade with a g07, the fly back caught fire so I am going to replace the fuse if it is blown, the fly back, and hot. Is there anything else to look for?

Awesome!
Mortal Kolor Klumpbat! That was so defocused it was just color splotches. Great vid.
2025 off to an awesome start with repairs! Hoping this year I can get my hands dirty and fix some myself! Thanks for the vid, happy holidays and new year! <3
Smeggin awesome repair Mike ! Sweet t-shirt, if you had a shop I'd buy 3.
I wonder what games come with this tube. I think it’s a A51 aka 20” I wonder if it’s a true 20”
Ic401 chips are high and not abundant
(MC1014) @ arcade parts and repair. These are rated at 600volts if you need them. Another fantastic video Mr Jensen
Awesome. Should put this on Klov
I get those raster/ retrace lines with my fly back turned up too high on my Astro city nanao ms8-29. I should check the large resistors that are coming off the fly back circuit. Great video! Thanks
Every monitor will show retrace lines if you turn the screen voltage up too high. That’s normal. This was something else.
@ okay whew good to know, I thought that was the case as well. Oh by the way I was laughing out loud when you started doing the mk2 sound effects. You did them too well, it was hilarious
104 is .1uf. 1uf is 105. Might work, depending on what it's function is.
Ah. Interesting. Thanks.
Hi. I have an amateur question. What’s a H.O.T.? I wanna guess it’s a High Output Transformer or High Output Transistor, but it looks like a MOSFET to me. Thanks for the great videos.
Horizontal Output Transistor. It’s a transistor that switches on the horizontal drive circuit.
@@MikesArcadeMonitorRepairthank you
Good repair Mike! Thought it worth mentioning though, I don't think there's any problem with the FJL6920's as they're powerful enough that they're pretty much a replacement for any HOT going from what i've seen. It's not that they're electrically incompatible, they're physically incompatible with that chassis. It looks like there's a "ribbing" or "lines" either side of the flat area on the heatsink for the HOT. As such, the BU508AF/BU2508AF fit perfectly in that flat area, but as the FJL is a wider HOT, it was being held away from the heatsink slightly and not seating properly. I'd bet they were overheating and letting go due to not seating down against the flat area!
