Landscape Fabric (Weed Control Barrier) Part 2 What Works and What Doesn't, Advice From A Pro
Thank you! This video was very helpful.
Ryobi is garbage. I have 4 batteries all less than 5 years old with basically no use. None will take a charge. I have craftsman 19.2 volt batteries that are 20+ years old and used constantly. Never had an issue. I have Internal combustion powered tools that are 40+ years old. Guess what, they still work and don't have to be dangerously hacked to function!
Yes the bag is small and it also gets very heavy. The wheels are cheap plastic and break very easy. I’ve had the vacuum going on two years and had replaced the wheel unit 9 times. Not a very happy camper.
I haven’t seen the wheels break before. That is not good at all.
What a complete waste of time and money. Tons of leaves still left on the lawn and in the beds. The after looks just as sh#tty as the before. Massive fail my friend.
Fantastic video, Jeff! I ran out of line for the first time this afternoon, and it literally took me less time to respool than it did for me to find your short video, watch it once, and find the spare string in my garage. This after I'd just about sworn off battery whackers forever after hellish restringing efforts on Lowes' house brand 80v Kobalt a couple years ago. The only reason I'd bought this Ryobi expand-it is that it uses the same 40v battery as my lawn mower. I'm looking closely now at the sea of green surrounding you for what else I might want to attach ;-).
Great video, will this also work on a 2.6Ah 40V Li OP4026 battery?
No chemicals other than the ore emergent 😁
@@MRM5J 100%, I will be putting down preemergent for sure.
Thanks for the video! Just saved me $150 bucks!
Second blade placed off center. Good tutorial .
Use a gas blower vac. Eats that Ryobi battery toy for breakfast. Charge and recharge expensive batteries is not my idea of fun.
@@gsfdriller I can understand that. I own a bunch of batteries so not a big deal for me. The ryobi does work though.
@ Thanks. Good comment but gas machines outperform battery blowers all day long.
It just looks like total pain in the ass
Question where do set dial on voltage meter to check these 2/4,6 Ryobi batteries and 40v
If water gets into the dirt underneath the Rocks and Landscape Fabric, will it cause the Fabric to Rot, Dissolve or Disintegrate?
@@Cali_Girl1 it doesn’t.
Worked on one battery, but tried several times on another one and all that happened is there is one light (rather than all of them) that flashes when I push on the lights, and it does not charge. Does that mean it is permanently dead? Thank you
@@DianeHuey-k1d yes that is a high possibility.
It would be great if they made a leaf vacuum like an indoor vacuum that you can just walk behind instead of having to hold the vacuum with a heavy bag. These vacuums are great but wreak havoc on your hands and shoulder
I've been researching this and a DR Power Leaf Vacuum does exist and other such leaf vacuums, but they start at around 1K and up.
They do. Also Troy built 28" like he said around 700
I think the WORX does a better job, it actually mulches the leaves down to dust. Instead of a bucket use a leaf bag holder which keeps the bag perfectly open
Work like a charm very much appreciated
What is the purpose of saturating the area with Fiesta prior to covering? Won't everything be killed off from the solarization/occultation anyway? Also wondering if doing so could affect soil quality in an adverse way. Great to stumble upon a Canadian lawncare channel with tips that don't rely on US chemicals!
Look people be careful I would not recommend being in the street with a blower you won't hear if a car is coming, and you will be preoccupy gathering the leaves. if you keep grass short for easy raking, not a good idea, stay on your property and stay safe.
Comes right back anyways slick. Long term poa mgt is the only way.
My 40 volt charger indicates that the battery is defective. Will this help to reset it?
Do we have to replace the fabric on a regular basis?
Not at all. I have some that is over 5 years old that looks the same as if I put it down last week.
Great video! well spoken and reasoned, complete descriptions and advice!! I have a Zeon Zoysia lawn in north Texas and this will help me!
Thanks l was waiting for this.
hey thanks for the video. Found a "bad" 40v at the home depot battery recycling box and saved it. charging just fine now. One less in the landfill
Awesome! and a free working battery for you.
What is that 9 Ryobi batteries. With all that they better be kicking in some advertising money.
Not a pennie, and I have 16 of them.
Canadian Tire sell a yard waste bag retainer that conveniently holds the bag open and upright. Then simply load the leaves into the bag until full. I found the Ryobi Vac Attack ergonomically a nightmare. One holds the weight of the device that includes the large 6 amp battery along with the unit. The fact that the shoot has wheels doesn’t reduce the weight one is holding to any great degree. Plus while vacuuming up the leaves only adds to the weight you’re holding. The unit needs a shoulder strap or something to give better support and lessen the strain to the arm. I’m in my 70’s and have an old corded electric HomeLite vacuum/blower that at least has a strap on the bag to help support the weight and improve maneuverability. The reason I bought the Ryobi is that it is battery powered and cordless. I’ve used it a number of times to vacuum up pine needles etc. The vacuum performance is fine the ergonomic aspects I don’t care for, definitely needs more support to carry the weight and maneuver the unit.
I agree. I now attach a strap that I have from a grass trimmer.
Great review
Thank you
Jeff when i press the power button while jumping, all 4 leds light up. Any advice?
Have you since put that battery on a charger to see if it is taking a charge?
@@JeffSeetonLawnCare Yeeah, I really think it dead
@@Musicalogo that is too bad.
you have to put the pins in the circuit board holes and the complete the 5 seconds to reset. I just completed the reset for my battery. give it a go
@@giovannim2552 i trashed that bi$&@ 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Was very helpful. Ive been using the ryobi weed Wacker but never really knew how to replace the line. I'm a 60 year old woman and once you know exactly what to do, it was very simple. Thank you.
I am glad it was helpful.
Quick side note. The warranty void stickers aren't legal in the US anymore. That bs and you CAN still get it replaced . Big push on this lately too.
Definitely will try this
Gonna try these
My battery may be newer. Instead of taking it apart, you can push a reset buttom on the label that's being peeled back in the video. It has a picture of a battery, and you push that button in and reset it. So far, it's charging like it should where before it just flashed red.
Hello can I send you two battery to see if u can bring them back to life
Where do you live?
@@JeffSeetonLawnCare West Covina CA I can ship the battery with around trip postage and send u the money for bring them back to life
@@tivquezada5758 truthfully, I would just find someone local, like a battery repair shop. and have them look at them for you.
Wouldn’t it be cheaper to use household ammonia diluted with water?
WTF = so you used the blower, then rake, then bags, then the vacuum!! Holy moly that 3 times more work than taking out the mower which if good quality will mulch and do the same thing!!
Yeah, I mulch my leaves the majority of the time.
I bought this, we get a lot of leaves and I love this thing!! It was a great investment for us
Helpful video. Way too slow and unnecessary comments. Just get to the point
I am glad it was useful and thanks for the advice, I will heed it in future videos.
Can you help me do the same with a generic replacement for the 40v ryobi?
I have never seen one of them.
What’s the name of the one that you use because I bought one that you mix 1 ounce with a gallon of water thank you so much
Number 7 here I didn't pay attention to the weather and it was a new lawn I had it so smooth and all sowed down when we got all that rain from hurricane Helene washed most my seed and soil I'm in KY I should have watched the weather. Its looking ok but got runts all in it ill level next fall.
I am sorry to hear that. Truthfully I would relevel it now.
Wish I had watched this first
Great video. Watching all the way from Ireland 🇮🇪🍀
Thank you, Jeff! Is it a good time to overseed now? I'm near Niagara Falls, ON.
It is getting late now but in and around Niagara you may be ok if you are using perennial rye grass and you get a very late first frost. It take PRG about 6 weeks to become established. Alternatively you could wait until the soil temperature drops to around 5 degrees C and then dormant see.
@@JeffSeetonLawnCare Thank you for the reply! What exactly do you mean by dormant seeding? Could you please elaborate on that?
Have you done this with a 24 volt ryobi
One problem i had that no channels are showing is making sure you have used grub killer or grub control, i have spots now where the overseed had died right after germination, just before the 1st cut
I can understand that. If there is even a chance that there would be a grub issue I will put down either nematodes and bacillus thuringiensis just before starting an overseeding. You can apply either at any time though.
Just made that mistake I'm having skunks, possoms, and coons tearing up my new grass digging up grubs. I've caught two and set two traps tonight.
Excellent! Thanks.
Thanks for helping this family they don't care where they put there discarded bits but if we did that on there property no doubt we would have to clean it off but you no how it goes but anyway great cleaning job😅
U did a great job but u needed to cut the grass lower
Thank you. I cut it down to 3 inches. what you don’t see in these videos is that I will go back to give the properties another cut in a week s times.
A little edging would help make it pop too.
Awesome job, don’t listen to the negative
Thank you, I appreciate your support.
