Great to see you back, no matter the circumstances! While you recover and relax a bit, we've been very busy over the last year ourselves. The wife and I have almost completed our house and we're building our own furniture now too! It's been a lot of hard work these past 2 years (I know you know all about that...) but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We also recently had a flood that washed out part of our drive, which we are almost finished repairing. Check out the channel while you recover. In the BC building code there's tables that mention snow burden, the span, ...so we found our information there! (and built it stronger than the code said) You should have a local building code publicly available. Ours is built in place laminated out of 4 2x12's. Still waiting on the build permit here in Regional District of Nanaimo for a small 1000sqft home. Application was in March, still waiting here. Total wait for development permit and build permit has been 28 months so far. The cost of the government red tape so far has been $45,000 and just last month they nailed me another $4500 in permit fees. No end in sight as yet $45,000 spent on government red tape and we do not even have a permit as yet. The biggest problem with the housing shortage - is government.

You’re right! I call it that (because it’s kind of wild, lol), but I can see how that might be confusing. I updated the description to be sure, because we definitely don’t want to give the wrong idea. 😂

People make mistakes when building cabins. It should be prepared for rain by constructing the roof first after framing the walls. interior later

They covered it at least so the wood didn’t swell and possibly warp throwing the whole house out of level until it was fully framed and dry set or wet out or whatever the proper term for water proofing a house is.
