Making creative guitar covers and geekier gear videos, this is what this channel is all about!
All videos are live takes (single take, no editing), the exception being the videos in the multi-track playlist. My philosophy when recording a video is to do a max of 4-5 takes (usually 3), and selecting the best out of 3, so what you're experiencing when watching a video here closely resembles what it would be like when I'm playing live on stage
I've been playing the guitar since the age of 5. This channel is a mean for me to share my passion about the instrument, through a variety of video types: fingerstyle covers of famous songs, guitar solo covers, guitar tutorials, and reviews of musical gear.

My take on a cover of this classic song that got me into Dire Straits when I was 10. I've always thought this song felt like it could be played on a nylon string guitar, so I went with that! If you enjoy this, please like and subscribe!

Baldur's Gate 3 main theme cover in the style of Metallica

It's been a while since the last time I made a video, but here is a quick fun one! The main theme song of Baldur's Gate 3 popped up in my RUclips playlist a few days ago, and as soon as I heard it, I knew I had to make a cover for it. Sounds so epic and catchy! If you like this video, don't forget to go on my channel and check out the rest of my content! All tracks were recorded in my home stud...

How to set a guitar amp the proper way (feat Dr Z MAZ18NR Jr)

This is how I typically set my MAZ18NR, volume and master near max, and then riding the volume knob of the guitar to go from clean to saturated. I usually use my attenuator, but I had the house to myself that morning, so I decided to do another video with the amp cranked. It gets very loud, so I was wearing my ear plugs. You get 90% of the way there with the attenuator, but the interaction betw...

Ok, after the amazing support I got for the Bohemian Rhapsody I posted last week, I've decided to tackle another of my favorite songs: Africa, by legendary band Toto. This one was challenging for various reasons, not as many audio tracks as for the Queen video, but a lot more video editing/tracks involved. I hope you'll enjoy it! As for the other video, only gear used for the take was an AKG C5...

Nice performance
Wow very nice dear 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
NICE BRO
Beautiful.. 🤩🤩🤩🤩
🙏 thank you G!
Back in the day bass amps and guitar amps were virtually the same. A marshall super bass can be converted to a superlead with a small handful of components and argualbly the best guitar amp of all time was a bass amp . 59 fender bassman.
Yes, it is nice to see that modern bass amps are still following the same pattern!
Did you connect the 12" ext cab to the rectoverb? How did that affect the sounds, because my rectoverb 25 sounds great but it misses a bit "body", it sounds a bit thin. I hope an extra cab could solve that problem
Yes I did, I’ve got a few other videos with both mic’ed up (Hold The Line, Crazy Train, Kids aren’t alright for example). My amp’s got the Filmore speaker (Eminence), and I’ve got the mini Rec 1x12 underneath it. Definitely fuller sounding! The other thing I’ve tried was a 2x12 with V30s in it (so without the internal speaker), and it sounds a lot fatter. I still love the internal speaker/open back better for clean/light OD.
Pffffff c'est quoi ça mauvaise imitation pfffff
This is awesome!
Thank you! :)
I listened this song more than 1000 times. you did amazing job, well played. upload more more songs. waiting.....
Haha thanks! I am a bit slow these days, but if you’re patient there should be a new video soon! Stay tuned!
Excellent, loved it :)
I really appreciate the kind words, thank you!
superb playing man, loved it!
Thanks a lot!
Great playing! I wish mine sounded that good!😊
thank you Marc! Maybe it's the type of strings you're using? Strings make a massive difference on that specific acoustic guitar.
@AlexVoinotGuitar I'm selling mine on FB so I put up a link to here in the add so everyone can hear what the guitar sounds like in the hands of someone who can play! Hope you don't mind, I'm guessing you'll be getting quite a few more viewings soon....
@marcsinclair3730 sure no worries, glad I can be of help!
Amazing, very well done, mate, it's a pleasure to listen to
Thank you I really appreciate!
Very nice ! i been wanting to hear this on acoustic guitar and you didn't disappoint. Well done !
thank you very much!
Technique reminds me of Segovia.
This is a great compliment, cheers!
This is beyond awesome!
Thank you so much!
Good performance my friend!! Killer sound!!
Hey thanks Rick! That was a very quick comment, I’ve just posted the video, I really appreciate!
is the 40 watt rumble loud enough to jam with drum?
I’d say it depends on the drummer and style of music. You may need more power if you want headroom. If that helps, I’ve used it for both bass and guitar in band settings, using the DI out to go to the PA with bass, or mic’ed up with guitar.
@@AlexVoinotGuitar thanks for your reply, I was uncertain either to go with the rumble 40 or 100, i like both 🤣🤣
Also just bass cabs! I used to HATE the orange micro amps, but into a bass cab they’re amazing!! Played that rig for over a year
Yes, good cabs make a big difference, I'm a firm believer that cab matters way more than the amp itself. There might be some videos coming up on the channel about this in the future ;-)
Fantastic job.

Awesome job mate sounds great 🔥
thanks!
I recently did a video on this myself. I kept using the Rumble at GC when trying out used guitars. It sounds really good with semi hollowbodies.
Yes, I love it with my 335-style guitar (I’ve got a video on it on my channel too)
Sounds great, thanks!
You’re welcome!
Sounds great! How about the dynamic?
It's pretty good for a little transistor amp. My tube amps are doing better in that respect, but this one still feels very natural.
I have Rumble 40, better cleans than my JTM45 with strat. Great pedal platform..
Yes, that's exactly my experience with it, it does that 'edge-of-breakup' clean tone pretty well, and it sings once you push it with an overdrive. Some cheaper guitar amps tend to get fizzy and lifeless, this one's got character. I can get it to sound and feel close to my Dr Z Maz 18NR.
I have also Marshall JTM1H, which is sitting in the corner. At home is rumble my amp no.1. That fullness and edge of breakup is great for SS bass amp.
Not surprised; '59 Fender Bassman was designed for bass guitars, and sounds fantastic with strats and telecasters
yes definitely! To be honest, that little guy sounds better than a lot of guitar amps in a similar price range that I've had a chance to play over the years.
I wonder what would happen if you hit one of these with a treble booster
Good question, I might try the treble booster from the Helix to see what happens
Wow, who knew? Nice playing.
Thanks!
@@JosephX74 Thanks for clearing that up.
Fuckin aces man! inspirin me to play
Haha glad to hear that! I still haven’t bought the game yet, just got the PlayStation 5
Hmm I have Mk 1 I think I prefer it
I haven’t tried the MK1 yet, it would be interesting to compare them side by side
@@AlexVoinotGuitar R.J Ronquillo has uploaded demos of both. One 7 years ago for the OG, and a recent one for the version 2. I asked him, in the comments section, his opinion on the differences between the two and if he has a preference. He's a busy man so I don't anticipate a reply anytime soon, but the videos convinced me that they are still pretty damn similar. I have my version 1 listed for sale as I need money and have a Chase Tone Red Velvet '68 BC183 which covers the same tonal territory and is, imo, slightly superior to the SGFX. Both handle buffers very well, but the Chase Tone is essentially unchanged no matter what I put in front of it - Unvibe, Wah, Phaser - it does not mind at all. I'm keen to try his Fuzz Fella for the BC108 thing. I have an MXR Classic 108 which is really good, but has a bit of a noise problem with the Fuzz cranked. A mild, high-pitched whine. It does have the switchable buffer which is super cool and nails early Gilmour tones and some Hendrix perfectly. Mine is the big box version.
@mattgilbert7347 ok! I’m curious to see what his response would be if he replies back! Please let me know! I had a similar issue with the MXR. The best BC108 fuzz I’ve ever owned was a Hartman. I’ll likely buy one again at some point.
@@AlexVoinotGuitar I missed out on a Hartman BC108 in an eBay bidding war. I've heard they are brilliant. My friend has the Chase Tone Fuzz Fella and he loves it, the BC108 brother to the BC183 Red Velvet '68 I use. That's second only to my amazing Lovepedal White Dragon (large dragon logo, handwired) which is the best Fuzz I've ever owned and played. It can't handle buffers as well as the SGFX and Chase Tone but my god what a tone. It does everything from Treble Boost, overdrive, distortion-Fuzz, and classic Fuzzface tone. It's a hybrid Germanium/Silicon design and you can blend them My other "never sell" Fuzz is my MI Audio Effects Neo Fuzz (large box). Unique germanium fuzz with a load, bias, tone, brightness, fuzz & level. The load control is genius - you can tailor the Fuzz to different pickups, essentially fine tuning the impedance. Imo all Fuzz pedals should have Load control.
@@AlexVoinotGuitar seriously, type "Sebastian White Dragon Fuzz demo" and prepare to hear something truly awesome, even with RUclips compression it just sounds so good. In person, it makes me want to play forever! Not all the Lovepedal Dragon Fuzz peaks are equally good. The handwired White, Black, and Gold are the way to go. Incredibly hard to find now tho
Hi Alex. Nice tone. 😏 Did you change the stock pick ups? They seem quite oxidized. I‘ve got my SA125 since 15 years and the PU’s don't make any arrangements to do so. 😄
Thanks man! I’m usually one to experiment with pick ups etc on guitars, but to be honest with you I don’t feel the need to do so on this one, the stock pick ups are perfect! They are quite oxidized indeed, you can tell it gets a fair amount of playtime!
Perfect. I know an amp that can do both well. Thanks.
I own a Rumble 40...just bought a guitar after 12 years of "bass only"...assumed that I'd need to buy a guitar amp again...nope...looks like my Rumble 40 will do the business!!😂
Yup, a great starter amp for electric guitar, and it works really well with pedals
I love your playing. Is that Big City nights at 1:10?
Thanks! No it's not, I hear what you mean, but this was just a riff I improvised on the spur of the moment!
Well that answers my question! 🎉❤😮
Good to hear!
hi, how do you think this amp works with the boss ds-1/ds-2?
Based on how it plays with the JHS @+, I would assume it would be a good combination too.
Request: Ian & Sophie - We Can Always Be With You guitar solo cover
Sounds fantastic well played mate 🔥
Thanks man!
muchas gracias.
muchas gracias.
really nice video now im going to look forward to buy this same exact amp, but i have a question, is it suitable for grunge or alternative rock, or metal, this type of stuff?i will of course buy a distortion pedal but i want to really know if im doing something good. sometimes i need the cleans but most of all i need a good distortion
There might be better options for metal tones on the cheap. I don't have a heavy distortion pedal (I've got a Mesa Rectoverb 25 so I don't really need one), my guess is that it would sound great with the Rumble 40, but you may want to look into what the competition does for that type of tone. From my experience, it's better to have a larger cabinet/speaker for metal tones (tighter, more focused bass)
hey man really thanks for taking the time to read my comment and writing :)) so i kinda got it wrong, like i didnt mean metal (i still dont know why i said "metal tone") but more of a alternative rock/grunge tone, like nirvana, pixies, this type of stuff. i love love the cleans and een that bit of overdrive but my only concern is, does it take a good distortion with a pedal? will it sound too much bassy?@@AlexVoinotGuitar
@@chrisari101 No I think it works great with overdrive pedals (like in this video after 1'20", I used the JHS @+ for the second half of the video to demonstrate that). Check out the other video I made with a humbucker guitar, it does have a nice crunchy tone on its own too. When I'm practicing later in the evening these days and I don't want to be to obnoxious, this is the amp I go to these days.
oh yeah i saw that video, it had such a good crunch and with the humbuckers its just heaven. really blows my mind to see in fact how good it is cause the cleans makes it feel its a more expensive gear. ill try to save up some money so i will buy it, i prefer it to the boss katana 50, it suits me better. still thanks for the videos, they really helped me figuring out if ill should buy it :D@@AlexVoinotGuitar

@@AlexVoinotGuitar Thanks so much Alexandre! And thanks for the great videos you put out.. they're appreciated!
@NewLifeWithGuitar thank you so much for the kind words, that means a lot! Life is busy these days so I don’t get to play much, I’m hoping to get back into recording and video making in the next few weeks again
@@AlexVoinotGuitar Sounds awesome... I'll keep an eye out & hopefully I'll catch them! I hear ya though... sometimes life just makes things difficult for a while for various reasons! Glad you might have time again soon though!
Nice sound! Its not dangerous for the amp use a guitar in it?
No it’s alright, lots of examples of bass amps being used as guitar amps (Fender Bassman for example)
Dangerous for the neighbor 😂😂😂
No but a bass into a guitar amp could damage the speaker.
I have the rumble 100 and have to try this.
Let me know what you think!
I experimented last night and was really pleased with how it sounded. Had to turn the bass all the way down and tweak some of the mids and treble, but using dirt pedals (SL Drive, OD3, etc.), I got some really good sounds. In fact, I thought it sounded better than some of my guitar amps. I think that extra low end creates a good base for marshall style pedals that roll off low end Crazy and pretty cool. Who needs tube guitar amps? @@AlexVoinotGuitar
OK, I have to say that I actually love the rumble as an amp. I primarily get my tones from pedals because (1) volume is an issue and (2) pedals are fun. This amp is absolutely outstanding for pedals--especially mid-focused drive pedals. Love it!
Glad to hear you’re liking it too! I played on it for a bit yesterday evening again, same thing, I wanted to keep the volume low. It sounded really great! A fun little amp for sure!
