  • A quick test of this amazing Fuzz pedal through my Maz 18 NR (no EQ/Comp, just a tad of Reverb in the DAW). Fuzz/Saturate set to max, Volume/Voltage set to noon, Bias to 10 o'clock. Riding the volume knob on the guitar to go from clean to fuzz.

Does it sound good placed after buffered pedals or must be the first in chain like vintage fuzz?

Good question Lorenzo. I've experimented a bit with my Whammy placed before the fuzz in the signal chain yesterday evening, and it seems to be doing just fine!

It's one of those rare Fuzz pedals which can handle a buffered pedal in front.. I've only encountered two others, like Analogman Sunface (any of them).and the Chase Tone Red Velvet '68 BC183.

I haven’t tried the MK1 yet, it would be interesting to compare them side by side

@@AlexVoinotGuitar R.J Ronquillo has uploaded demos of both. One 7 years ago for the OG, and a recent one for the version 2.
I asked him, in the comments section, his opinion on the differences between the two and if he has a preference. He's a busy man so I don't anticipate a reply anytime soon, but the videos convinced me that they are still pretty damn similar.
I have my version 1 listed for sale as I need money and have a Chase Tone Red Velvet '68 BC183 which covers the same tonal territory and is, imo, slightly superior to the SGFX. Both handle buffers very well, but the Chase Tone is essentially unchanged no matter what I put in front of it - Unvibe, Wah, Phaser - it does not mind at all.
I'm keen to try his Fuzz Fella for the BC108 thing. I have an MXR Classic 108 which is really good, but has a bit of a noise problem with the Fuzz cranked. A mild, high-pitched whine.
It does have the switchable buffer which is super cool and nails early Gilmour tones and some Hendrix perfectly. Mine is the big box version.

@mattgilbert7347 ok! I’m curious to see what his response would be if he replies back! Please let me know! I had a similar issue with the MXR. The best BC108 fuzz I’ve ever owned was a Hartman. I’ll likely buy one again at some point.

@@AlexVoinotGuitar I missed out on a Hartman BC108 in an eBay bidding war. I've heard they are brilliant.
My friend has the Chase Tone Fuzz Fella and he loves it, the BC108 brother to the BC183 Red Velvet '68 I use. That's second only to my amazing Lovepedal White Dragon (large dragon logo, handwired) which is the best Fuzz I've ever owned and played. It can't handle buffers as well as the SGFX and Chase Tone but my god what a tone. It does everything from Treble Boost, overdrive, distortion-Fuzz, and classic Fuzzface tone. It's a hybrid Germanium/Silicon design and you can blend them
My other "never sell" Fuzz is my MI Audio Effects Neo Fuzz (large box). Unique germanium fuzz with a load, bias, tone, brightness, fuzz & level. The load control is genius - you can tailor the Fuzz to different pickups, essentially fine tuning the impedance.
Imo all Fuzz pedals should have Load control.

@@AlexVoinotGuitar seriously, type "Sebastian White Dragon Fuzz demo" and prepare to hear something truly awesome, even with RUclips compression it just sounds so good. In person, it makes me want to play forever!
Not all the Lovepedal Dragon Fuzz peaks are equally good. The handwired White, Black, and Gold are the way to go. Incredibly hard to find now tho
