@@Charles-pm4so thank you, I’m glad you liked it.
There’s an screw at the top of the bridge (on the high e side) where you can adjust the torsion bar tension.
@@Exsteeler yep, I have the Washburn instructions and I’m aware of all the adjustments. It doesn’t appear to do much but to be fair this guitar is waiting for me to get around to it and really dig in to the guts of it.
@ hmm 🤔 that’s very strange. I own 4 of them and I can adjust the each bar where there’s no tension at all or it can be adjusted super stiff where you can only dive the bar. Maybe yours is broken in some way.
Is it normal that trussrod in s2 singlecut turns quite heavy? My neck is around 0,25mm (0.01 inch) and I want to straighten it.
@@petkopeet the best way to deal with your truss rod if it’s stiff is to take the nut all the way off (if you can, more on that in a bit) and put some Vaseline or beeswax on the threads and the bearing surface to make it move as easy as possible. Slightly over tighten it without string tension then tune it up. Relax the truss rod nut until it is the desired amount of relief (or straight as an arrow) and then bump the truss rod nut righty tighty so it won’t continue to loosen up. If you have a double action truss rod you can’t take the nut off because it’s welded to the rod. Other than Vaseline or beeswax the same principle applies. For more watch this. My fav version of the Floyd
@@briandietrich1373 in the beginning I was not a fan, but I am now! With locking tuners this is a great bridge.
@@REXYLAB Amen!
My floyd is tuned and level. I have the white springs from fu tone and using 2 of them angled like evh. The bar is very, very hard to push down. What can I do?
@@bobc.5698 you can make them straight instead of angled. That will reduce tension but probably not enough. The white FU springs are heavy, drop it to black (regular) or even yellow (light) and it should fix the problem. If your bridge is decked (dive only) you can unscrew the claw until the bridge comes off the body for reference and then tighten it back until it starts to touch. I personally find noiseless springs make more noise than the regular ones so I have been just replacing all my “upgraded” noiseless springs with the original ones. I typically use 9s on my floating Floyd Rose bridges and 2 regular springs and it works great so don’t be afraid to experiment until you find the combination that works best for you. If you need any assistance reply to this comment and I’ll be happy to help.
@REXYLAB thanks. I just ordered some fender springs to try on it. I hope they're light. They were like 5 for $10.

Thanks for the great comparison. I agree with several aspects, pickups can have a slight variation when having distortion, less noticeable in open chords, which is even less noticeable the more gain the chain of effects or pedals has, a hi gain pedal at 75% is not the same as 3 pedals at 25%. I feel that exposing this is not going to take a few words if we are going to consider several things... in which we are going to agree and in others we are not. Certainly some designs and materials in pickups change the sound, not only the tone, we have to take into account how they interact with the dynamics of the musician or the palm mute and the perception of self-correcting in real time the technique to obtain the sound that as guitarists we have become accustomed to getting in (with the knacks included). Because of this, with some pickups we do better than others depending on the total of factors that we are including for our sound, real and decisive factors in what concerns electric guitar, such as cabinet, speaker, amplifier (the whole head), pedals, and in minimal amount, the pickups. A couple of years ago, while designing a pedal preamp, I came across the same situation, which led me to borrow several guitars and do some tests, beyond the pickup output level. I tried several emulators, good ones, but the result was always similar, both some friends and I ended up with the same human behavior, which was to adjust the gain and tone of the VSTs to correct or force the sound to come closer to personal taste when using different pickups. The differences in the pickups were perceived more noticeably using pedals in an effect chain and connected to a real amplifier, I fear that the simulators are too intelligent in correcting the load. But it is the personal appreciation that we had at that time, I could not explain it to you, it is not possible, you have to be a few meters in front of the amplifier in a certain position for everything to physically interact with more real variables. Please note that in extreme metal recording and production processes, if the guitars abuse hi gain, the mix starts to get ruined, and the guitars are not everything, it is always very different when you play alone than when you have the whole set of instruments in a mix, and within this the pickups play an almost miserable role, being more useful for one as a performer in the recording monitoring to enjoy the articulation and punch that you want to give to the performance. Thank you very much for making this video, which would be very useful if you sell or share the recording of that arsenal of guitars for those who want to find out how they do with a re-amplification. Same riff, same guitarist, same pick :)
Loosen the trem claw screws and the bridge will float. Customer also complains that the bar is too stiff... loosening the screws will loosen the trem tension too. This makes no sense. Even still, if the bridge is too close to the body--it's not in this case--raise the bridge studs since they're adjustable on this two-point trem.
@@garrettfrank3327 that is incorrect. You must match the neck angle or your action will be too high.
@@REXYLAB It changes the break angle and string height a little bit. That's why saddles are adjustable. I've been setting up guitars for years and have never seen someone shim a neck to push a bridge from decked to floating. You shim a neck if the pocket angle is out of spec and you dont have enough saddle height travel to set the action to a desired height.
@@garrettfrank3327 show me your video on how to do this job and I’ll watch it. However, I still maintain my position that you are leaving out a big step.
Good job on video. I recently purchased a brand new EVH Wolfgang Special with Floyd Rose and D-Tuna which this model comes with. The setup in store had the Floyd Rose floating which is contrary to all EVH guitars to have the Floyd decked to only allow diving down and not to be able to pull back. The way the guitar was setup had no way to use the D-Tuna and keeping guitar in tune. As well, if you deck the Floyd, it tilts to the back and prevents the Floyd to return to pitch even though decked. New strings stretched, strings locked at nut, low E fine tuned using screw adjustment on D-Tuna, etc. All frets edges are also very sharp. This is a $1,599 plus tax guitar in Canada. I’m wondering now if it’s not true that EVH guitars that ship with Floyd and D-Tuna need are supposed to come decked? Or are you supposed to install some kind of gadget to block the ability to pull up on bar? Regardless of that, these guitars clearly have shoddy QA from factory.
Useless review

Kahler all the way!!!
This high gain metal tone conversation is a waste of time and space perhaps bigger than even the tonewood one. Who'd have thought that a signal purposefully distorted and compressed to hell and back would be affected very marginally by nuanced differences in the original signal... First saw this on my 89' Steeler. Kahler is always one step ahead!
@rexylab you said that spyder is a little bit stiffer. A little bit ? I have one and its completely unusable. Even if I remove one of the strings. This is so stiff that I have to work out to have it moving. And its not a matter of preference . Its impossible to strum a string and use the trem at the same time yes... knife edges are properly inserted in the slot. Why causes this to be so stiff ?
@@rikardocarvalho if you are experiencing it being so stiff that you can’t move it then it’s set up wrong. Also, why would you remove a string… did you mean spring? The reason it’s so stiff is because Fender wanted it that way. This bridge was designed for Fender and they wanted it more stable than a Floyd Rose. Because of that the spacing of the studs is the same as a Floyd Rose but they are a bit further back than a Floyd Rose and almost all of the various licensed double locking bridges. Were you to try a killer that uses the same slot system they behave more like a traditional double locking fulcrum because of the stud placement. In conclusion the Spyder will always be stiff because it was designed to be stiff, because it was for designed Fender and they wanted it that way. If yours truly “won’t move” it is setup wrong.
@@REXYLAB Hi. Thanks for your fast answer. Yes I meant spring and not string. It moves but its to hard. Knife edges are completely wasted but I assume that has nothing to do with that stiffness. These 4 springs (I guess they are original) are extremely strong. Even with only 2 its too stiff and the bridge gets lifted.. even with back screws tightened to the end touching the wood.
I have a better idea. move the knob, and put in a kill switch. then you have everything.. a trem, and a kill switch.. on a bass.
