Huge improvements and most importantly American made. I hope we see these on production run guitars. An installation video and a demo video would go a long way to pointing folks at the correct resource to see the benefits it brings. I also think a dedicated video on how to install these as drop-in replacements to a Floyd would be very helpful.
We do a lot of traveling back and forth. One of the coolest things is Gary flew to my house and I got to show him the aria pro I dreamed of having when I was 15 back in 1985 with a Kahler on it. I told him about growing up poor and just staring at this guitar when I was younger just knowing I would never be able to get one but wanting it so bad. It was very surreal to not only have gotten this guitar a few years back but to be able to tell the person responsible for the best part of the guitar while they sat on my couch and pet my dog (one of my dogs is really protective of Gary, it’s adorable). He told me that as a farm kid in Nebraska he grew up poor too and that he was honored that I and so many people played his bridges. Gary Kahler is just the closest guy! I’ve never met anyone else that has accomplished so much and is so humble and appreciative of other people. You can definitely expect to see Kahler and Rexylab doing a lot more together. And like Gary I am honored that you enjoy the content I put out. I love guitars and nothing brings me more joy than sharing everything I know about them with like minded people.
Thank You for doing everything you have done.... I will be ordering the Stage 4 for my next project. BUT .... I'm still rocking my 2700's on my Peavey's ! Maybe we could get some base plates and update post for our 2700's ... My knife edges are 30 years old... Just a thought !
I love the Floyd Rose and Gary Kahler speaks highly of Floyd Rose, but I totally agree… the Steeler professional (with an Auto-Latch) is my absolute favorite bridge.
Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but are you guys marketing the Steeler as the most advanced tremolo ever made, or the most advanced “Strat style” bridge ever made? You guys got a lot of different bridges on the website and when I build my guitar I want the most advanced bridge, I’m not worried about the routing shape since I’m still picking the bridge I want to put in it. I DO know I want a Kahler but the options are a little tricky to grasp 😅
Get a Steeler Professional with the auto-latch option. You will tell everyone who doesn't play one they have the second best bridge. So yeah, it is the best 6 string fulcrum bridge made to date made 100% in the United States with the most cutting edge technology available.
These are AWESOME! Thanks, Gary and thanks Eddie for bringing this to us. I'll be interested to see how many people who crow about USA made guitars will buy this. It's really solved several Floyd issues as far as I'm concerned. Boy, I'd love to know all the companies Gary has manufactured parts for over the years.
Awesome news! Question, is the routing of the Kahler Steeler the same as the one for the old Kahler Spyder? If so, I'm upgrading my #1 guitar with a new Steeler right away!
Good question! The Steeler will fit in the route of a Floyd. The stud spacing is the same on a Spyder and a Steeler as well as a Floyd but the studs are different. You might need to do a little work to fit a Steeler where a Spyder was but if you do it shouldn’t be much.
Those blocks with. The spring retaining plate were originally made by killer guitar components. I've had a few over the years, and still have one on my charvel star. KGC closed up shop after Rick and Sandy peek passed away. Best blocks ever.
One of the Steelers with the big brass block option should drop right in. We have two brass block options, one that is just a huge chunk of brass like everyone else does and one that is countered and actually gives more travel than a standard block. These both come with stacker plates so this option will fit a guitar that takes a 32mm, 37mm, or a 42mm length block. The Auto-Latch option will require some modification and the standard block might. Both those options are 37mm only (for now, we are working on an Auto-Latch with plates to make it universal too) the standard block will probably be done once we sell out of our old stock. Now, the Auto-Latch and the standard block were based off a fender cavity (because that was the industry standard, but there is no standard anymore) so now those two might need the cavity modified to fit. The big brass block option actually comes with a Floyd Rose turbo arm that you can upgrade to any Floyd Rose sized aftermarket arm. What kind of guitar are you putting it in and what block option do you want? FYI, the professional with the Auto-Latch is my favorite bridge ever!
@REXYLAB I ask, and I think I may be right on this, but a standard, Original Floyd, has a slightly offset route. The treble string side of the tremolo stick out by the posts more than the bass string side does, but the Steeler is more symmetrical. I was more thinking top side of the guitar and not the block routing, but the body top of the tremolo.
I’m awaiting a Kahler 2710 Killer Tremolo to upgrade the 2500 series fulcrum on an older import charvel. Would be great if the Killer trem and parts are reissued/readily available again! Great video btw and appreciate the efforts in updating the Steeler trems. Are there any plans to reissue/upgrade the Kahler Killer trems??
Sadly the killer is not likely to ever return. It’s super expensive to make and difficult to manufacture. It would be very cool to find a bunch of parts and do a surprise inventory run but that is likely the only way it would happen.
@@REXYLAB are the auto latch systems model specific for the 2700 series? A parts run for the 2710 would be pretty sweet. I imagine there are a few of those floating around (no pun intended) that might need a refresh.
They are all assembled and ready to go. Now the administrative leg of Kahler International has to work out legal and logistics as well as price. Gary Kahler runs that department and he wants to get them out there as much as you want to buy one. He’s working as fast as he can so you can get this amazing bridge on your guitar. They will be available exclusively through kahlerusa.com
You will love them both. Heads up, the Steelers will continue (or at least one version if one is super popular and the other is not) but this is it for the Spyder, those will end when we run out so if you want one…
It is not going to fit recessed Floyd cavities..... It appears to be wider on the top side like ibanez, where as th Floyd is wider on the arm side. So maybe this would work good as replacing the crappy ibanaz low end "DL trem".
Kahler is working to have them available by the end of 2023! They already have many of all the colors and options completed and ready to ship. Now it’s just a matter of cutting bureaucratic red tape. This is a passion project for Gary Kahler and as such he is doing everything to get them to you asap! If it were up to him they would have been available months ago.
I recently purchased a single locking Floyd to do pretty much the same thing. I was going to add locking screws up top to dog down the strings. Your design is better. How much will they cost?
@@shawnmatthews5118 Gary Kahler is still fighting with the accounting department on that one. This was 100% made in America out of top quality materials so it will be expensive but very worth it. This will be available with 3 different options for the block as well, standard brass, Auto-Latch, and big brass block. Each will have a different price point. The Auto-Latch is my personal favorite. By simply pointing the bar to the 6 o’clock position it turns your floating whammy bar into a fixed bridge. It works perfectly after being set up properly.
