BFCS is a casual hiking/mountaineering group made up of members from the US and Canadian Pacific Northwest.
Our content will primarily focus on providing our thoughts and opinions on various gear that we use on trail as well as trail videos of some of our trips.
Our hiking videos are admittedly a bit long but are intended to give folks an idea of what to expect on these trail destinations (and hopefully inspire viewers to get on out there).
All our videos are filmed using our iPhones as we just don’t feel like being weighed down by heavy camera gear. The footage is then spliced and edited using the Videoshop mobile app and uploaded or your viewing pleasure.

Waterman Jacket Overview, Sizing and Fit
What's with the scull and crossbones? My sons had imagery like that then grew up. You're a grown man for God's sake lol
This is cool, but you basically just made a Spiritus Systems Micro Fight placard. Just spend the $50 on that.
I want to buy your jacket 😮
🔥
What size pals webbing did you pick.
How long does it take to deliver? Ordered mine a couple days ago.
IDK Why but I expected a mini map case like a battle board.
The Music is way too loud :D
Appreciate your feed back! Thank you so much!
Was so impressed with the 24litre until the zipper failed. It’s been 18 months since I sent it back for repair… they say they can’t repair it, refuse to refund me and can’t guarantee a replacement… super disappointing… waste of $300. Won’t purchase from them again… they won’t pick up the phone… :(
Appreciate the informative video!🤙🏼 Just snagged this on Black Monday Cyber Friday deal. I think we’re similar in height/build/weight. I have a Stratus hoody in size M & ordered the Aegis in M as well. How’s the fitting when you wear the Stratus over the Aegis?
The size medium Aegis fit amazingly over layers, would size down if I was primarily using this in urban settings though. If you are familiar with how Arc LEAF garments fit…I would say this is the same cut and fit as their shells
2:15 MINTUNE.. FOR WHAT WE CAME
You mentioned your height and weight but what are your chest and waist dimensions for a better sizing reference? Is the stratus an athletic fit or more of a regular fit? I appreciate your help in advance. 🤙🏻
How tall are you sir? I'm 5'8" 155-160 lbs. Think a small in TAD gear would fit or go with a medium?
It's a four season shirt. Why wouldn't you wear this in the winter too?
You have to be a retard to use iphone in the battlefield. In war event you'd need to be able to modify all hardware and software on your electronic and mechanical devices
There definitely is discrepancy in the volume on this, the eberlestock website says it’s a 29L pack and I just ordered it based on that. So it is smaller than advertised?
I assume you’ve already done watched this? ruclips.net/video/JRFmGmm92IM/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Mine kills my neck. I just can’t seem to find a sweet spot for it.
Yes, that is why, if you follow us on IG you will see that we run the KBs off the shoulder straps of our pack via the load lifter straps. Because of the weight it will have a tendency to be weighed down and make the harness ride up and push against your next as you have pointed out. The harness only works if you don’t have alot of stuff in the KB …the minute you start putting anything with weight like a pistol with a loaded mag and a spare you’re gonna run into this issue. When you run it off your pack with the hangers not only does it alleviate this issue but it also provides a nice counter weight to your main backpack and also streamlines the donning/doffing
Hey! i want to ask, is this pack comfortable to wear for a long time?
I would say this depends on how much weight you’re carrying. If you have 35lbs or more highly recommended using the hip belt, 40lbs over the extended periods is doable any more than that and I think you might start feeling it in your traps.
Looks like a great climb gents! 🤙🏻🏴☠️
Hey, what kind of jacket are you wearing? Looks really cool!
This is the Defiant hoodie from @prometheusdesignwerx….i did a review of it incase you wanted to check it out
Is it one more skeg at the front is better?
Not sure how that would affect it never heard of a boat with a Skeg at the front and at the rear before
Just use a back pack or sling pack with that much gear
Its about accessibility - keeping trail essentials within reach and in my work Space without the need to remove my pack or Over stuff my pockets and minimizing the frequencies of the stops i have to make. Is it for everyone? Ofcourse not! But it works for me and is an absolute game changer especially when using my drone on the go.
@@BlackFlagSummitClub nice
So, I'm back for a third or fourth time. 😅 You wrote earlier "shoot me up". I've got some questions! We are heading towards Luxemburg tomorrow. So I was just checking and cleaning this water system. I used it last time may to Albania. After my trip I cleaned the hoses, not the filter. - How do you store your MSR filter after your trip? Do you clean it? - I cleaned the hoses after the trip. Just did it again before use with a brush. - I just took the filter after 4 months and saw that the white part of the filter (looks like ropes?) inside the filter behind the transparant plastic looked a bit black. Is this pollution? Needs to be white, right? - I did the reversed cleaning and saw some stuff coming out of the filter.. it looked as if hot water was mixing with cold water. Not dirty but I could see I was blowing something through. No bubbles. - Because I saw the black stuff in the filter and I didn't use it for months, I first cleaned it with 5 sort of aquatabs and let it go through. I'm doing it again now with bleech. - Somehow with the straw in the bottle it was not working so I tend to hang my system upside down and use gravity. However, the tiny air valve of the convertube is letting air in all the time. Is this supposed the be? Also, the O-ring (how you call that in English?) around the convertube lid on my Nalgene bottle seems to not completely close. After so many uses I'm still figuring out stuff and sometimes it almost gives me a headache.. as in "what am I doing wrong?" It seems so hard to simply get the water flowing sometimes..
Wow! That’s a lot to answer on here! Hahaha you should shoot me a message on IG….
Is the hood helmet compatible?
TRIED THE SIDE POUCH IDEA...COULDNT GET TO THE ZIPPER
This is not an issue for me as I find the pouches kind of wrap around the body and are out of the way for me anyway.
Still one of my favorite videos over a great pack that can be elevated with slight mods 🤙
You guys had better food over there than I have at home.
Lol
I know this was posted about two years ago. What is the brown contraption in the front holding the compass and other objects? Do you have a video?
This is the NAV board Lite from Juggernaugt Case ruclips.net/video/Zy62RcDqMr8/видео.htmlfeature=shared
What would you prefer if you could only own one between the defiant and aegis for long distance backpacking use case?
These two garments are very diffrent- the Defiant, being a hybrid soft Shell offers more abraision resistance and range of motion due to the stretch properties of the fabric. The Aegis is lighter and more packable but is a true hardshell so i would really only use it when the level of activity is low, or if Its really comming down. But i guess to answer your question, if i absolutly had to have only one, i guess i would go with the Aegis becuase i live in the PNW and rain is almost always looming so a reliable hardshell is a must.
@@BlackFlagSummitClub How does the Paladin, Aegis and Defiant compare in terms of similarities and differences?
@@kanga1255 have you seen the reviews I’ve done on each of these garments? They all have similarities like alot of the what you have come to expect from Patrick’s tried and true designs (ie. the Three Panel Hood, the dual side entry chest pockets, two way zipper etc) but the main differences are in the material….Hardshell vs soft shell and one that gives you the best of both worlds. If you’re trying to decide which one to get you first need to define the activities you plan to do with them mainly ….what is more important extended protection against the elements, abrasion resistance and range of motion….that should tell you if you need a Hardshell or a soft shell garment
no measurments...
What measurements are you looking for?
👍 good!!!
Where can I find the link of the connected chest bag to the pouches
What do you mean by “connected chest bag to the pouches”? Do you mean how the pouches are connected? if you mean the MALICE clips - should have them on Amazon
@@BlackFlagSummitClub I don't know what is the name of thats things, two kind of small ting to connected the side pouches, because I follow your video about how you to modified the chest bag especially the snubby one because I really like it. Btw greeting from Indonesia and I couldn't find the store who sell the chest rig hill people it's really thought for me.
Great review!!
Thank you!
Size is that? And your build
Im 5.7’, 170lbs and im wearing a size medium
Nice Mod!
Thank you! Been using this Set up for several years now and have been very Happy with it. The only thing ive done differently is that i now run it directly off my backpack straps instead of on the harness it came with.
Do you mind if I ask what is your height and weight and what size of this jacket were you wearing? I am interested in buying this jacket but I want to make sure I get the right size.
I’m 5.7’, and am 170lbs. In my case, I think actually a size medium would fit me perfectly and would get more daily use but as this Hardshell is primarily used in the backcountry I do appreciate the more roomy fit for mobility and layering.
@@BlackFlagSummitClub okay I was asking because I'm 5.10' and 166 pounds. I'm not sure whether a Medium or Large is better for layering. So you were wearing a large?
@@humbleheath no, I’m wearing a medium. I would think that these fit true to size and aren’t “athletic” fit so I would think that you should go with the size you normally get. But if you’re worried- I would measure from your shoulder down to your wrist and from your sternum to your hip bone and then ask PDW what the length is of the garment is at those points.
looks like the changed to a much lighter fleece for production model?
Yes, it does appear that way. Unless with the “LT” designation they still plan ok releasing a thicker heavier beastmaster for the winter.
Whats your height and weight and how does the medium fit?
Im 5.7’ 170lbs and im wearing a size medium
Man - the last thing I need is another fleece!
Can never have enough of these! The level 3 garments are my most worn for sure
Looks great! Too bad I live is the hot a$$ desert in PHx :(
Thats what i love about living in a place with 4 defined seasons
Super excited for this jacket! I am debating dyeing it a light grey when I get it.
Though it maybe look “white” in the photos and videos it’s actually really nice a grayish/beige color depending on the lighting
🤘🏼🦁
Thank you for the second review. What jacket are you wearing?
The Defiant Hoodie from @promtheusdesignwerx1984
Thanks for your run down. What kind of radio are you running? If you mentioned it and i missed it my apologies.
Just a run of the Mill BFUV5R
Maybe it's less than 1500 because it has a round shape instead of a square shape.
Nice Vid man :) love your 'Tactical Chapstick' 😁 Somethings weird with the Audio for me though (at the beginning) 🧐
Yeah, youre not the first to make that comment. Im new to this whole RUclips thing and am trying to make things better. Appreciate your feedback 🙂
@@BlackFlagSummitClub Man you are doing better than 99% of us :) It was a pleasure to watch overall. Thank you!
@@GmailNexus Thank you so much for your support
12:09 you’re using your paddles wrong and that rubber thing on the handle is adjustable and slides toward you so the water doesn’t drip into the boat.
As i had mentioned to @guygabriel6251 ‘s previous comment - You’ll notice i hold them in both positions in the video, i was trying to see if haveing it one way or the Other would have any impact on the side-to-side sway… (which seemed like it did some) as for the drip guards i am aware that they move but wasnt sure How to best position them to prevent drips …ill give your suggestion a try. Thanks for your insights :)
What a great review! Btw just want to confirm is the capacity 24.7L or 29.3L. The width that u measured is different from the website.
I made a video specifically addressing that discrepancy: ruclips.net/video/JRFmGmm92IM/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Wtf is up with that hat .
Not sure what you mean? Its just a hat with a loop panel to allow you to throw on a morale patch - which have done in the video.
