Wacker PG 3 Water Pump Rebuild. Making 1 out of 2 !!!
I use to work as a tire tech. You wouldn’t believe how many people would keep driving a run flat tire with no air in it for weeks even months and wonder why their tire is destroyed . I carry a spare tire , compressor and plug kit. Also have winter tires and all seasons on rims . Swap over every fall and spring. I find you get the most life out of a set of all season tires this way.
When I put my machine in speed sometimes it doesn’t move approximately you think it’s the belts thank you
The belt closest to the engine is the one responsible for drive. Make sure it's in good condition and has proper tension. Another area is the friction wheel and friction plate. If the wheel is worn it can cause slipping. Also make sure they are both clean
Fuel stabilizers barely work if at all. Snake oil I don’t use it anymore. They play with our ego. Non ethanol gas is best. Turn off fuel while still running, run carb dry for engines that sit for long periods. Best to drain all fuel in the tank if it may sit over a year. Shrouds on carb allows it to suck warm air from engine to keep carb from icing up which they likely will even if it does not get any snow in there. With all that I must say you did an excellent job. You saved them a lot of a Hassle and money.
Thank you for sharing this video with us!
Great video thank you and for storing I run it dry with stabilized fuel then i use trufuel only for storage purposes it last two years after opening and five years unopened then I use SeaFoam one oz per gallon of ethenol free gas during the season … again that was a great video thanks..
I just fixed a Bolens, which is an MTD snowblower. He broke the starter drive and he broke the pull cord, so he wonder if I can fix it. Took the belt cover off and looked in there first. nothing broke there. remove the spark plug and pour some transmission oil down the cylinder and let it set over night. Use my channel locks, grabbed a hold of the crankshaft and started moving it back-and-forth. It broke free. Took the bowl off the carburetor, cleaned the jet removed all the dirt and drain the gas tank. Put it all back together, put in fresh fuel and a fuel shut off. Started right up got it warm, then changed the oil. I change the pull cord on the recoil to get it started. Runs good now.

Always start the engine, heat it up, then change the oil. All the contaminants fall out of the oil and sit on the bottom of the crank case, by starting it up, the contaminants mix with oil and can be removed. (Or the contaminants can be mixed in with the new oil, It's your choice).
I have that model hS70 never had to do anything..used in Canada left in rain out side during summer...never find another machine like that
In addition to stabilizer, I recommend running the carb dry after every use. I always shut the fuel valve off and let it run out of gas.
Thanks, very comprehensive and straightforward explanations. 👍
You sound like a fellow Canadian…….
That's right eh!
Shoulda bought an Ariens!
Bad fuel
Do you recommend installing a fuel line shut off valve? I’ve put them on my small engines and let the carb starve during each shut down. 🇨🇦👍
Everyone has a preference. I usually stabilize the gas, run the machine for some time and yes, run it dry. So, adding a valve is a good idea. It also makes servicing easier...👌
As we already see I bet the machine was fueled with ethanol containing gas and they let it sit and it drew water out of the air and corroded the bottom of the bowl. always drain the carb and tank for seasonal storage. we store by draining the tank then adding about a half a cup of Automatic transmission fluid to fill the carb bowl, "then" remember at the start of the season drain the ATF from the bowl and add fresh non ethanol fuel.. use peppermint oil spray to deter mice , they hate the smell if putting a small engine into off season storage pull the plug add a about a tea spoon full of engine oil crank the engine over slowly to coat the cylinder so you dont get rust ..or turn the engine over a few times at least once a month , try and store the engine on the compression cycle so both valves are closed..
It's hydrolocked pull sparkplug
Old Man from Eliminator Performance here in Ontario, Canada. We have tried storing fuel with many stabilisers and we (and confirmed by Taryl Fixes All 5 month trial video) the Startron brand actually creates (do not know why) more jellification (an EP terminology of ethanol jell) than regual 87 octane fuel with 10% ethanol and no stabiliser added. At EP we use K100s+ stabiliser without issue and again in Taryl's video there was no ethanol jell after 5 months of storage. Last year we switched over to the BG line of products and no issue with the BGSC2 stabiliser after 5 months of storage. If we work on equipment being stored and it just had an ultrasonic cleaning at EP we will put one litre of Kinetix alkylate fuel into the fuel tank and guarantee the customer a 2 year start up if it sits that long (this especially on generators both 4 and 2 stroke). All in all a good video but i would suggest changing to another stabiliser and either check EP or Taryl out on RUclips. Project Farm also has a great video on stabilisers.
Thanks for the support and the info! I'm a fan of Project Farm. I'll have to check out Taryl. Everyone has a favorite product when it comes to stabilizer. I may have to do so.e testing of my own 😉
30 minute video to find out he didn't have the switch on 🤔 thanks for the video.
I know, sorry for that but the issue was clearly much more than just an ON/OFF switch... Thanks for watching!
Use non ethanol fuel and save yourself a lot of problems. I canada I always use Premiun Gas and never have carb problems.
I made the switch to running non ethanol fuel in my outdoor equipment about 5 years ago and I haven’t had any carburetor issues since. I also before I put my lawnmower away for fall I run it run it completely out of fuel and Visa versa putting my snowblower away in spring.
@@sneak6654 I wish we could buy ethanol free fuel at the pumps here.
Just subbed to your channel! Mice can destroy anything. I hate those nasty Bugars. I wonder if there's anything under flywheel shroud? The drive system is like a Snapper rear engine mower. Nice job! Thanks!
Nice fix
Thanks for this video. I've had issues with my Husqvarna blower for the last 10 or 12 years of ownership. I think I may now be able to solve some of the issues I've had! Also fill the tank right to the top when storing!
Agreed. I recommend to either fill up the tank and stabilize it properly or to run stabilizer on the last use and run it out of gas. I run stabilizer regularly in case I forget 😊
Nice fix, well done
Out of ALL the things I work on I hate snowblowers the most!!!
I hear ya. Plenty of moving parts!
The inside of the engine looked great but that carb looked terrifying...lol..Are you in Canada or here in the states?? I am in Pa and I really hope we do not get any snow this year in the Philadelphia area..-John
@@Biokemist-o3k Canada. Northern Ontario to be more specific
@@thehonestmechanic I heard you guys got like 5 feet of snow up there..
@Biokemist-o3k yeah! In some areas! It narrowly missed us. We had a bunch but nothing too crazy
Seen the gas colour when you cracked the drain nut, as a golden rule for any and ally engines i always start them atleast once every 2 to 3 weeks, and never keep gas in the tanks more than 3 months unless I'm using them constantly, lawnmowers, rototillers get a complete fresh tsnk with right amount of stabilizer right before parking them for winter, but still start them during winter months, and always keep the gas tanks filled to the top, and fresh oil flush amd change before storage helps come spring time, and remember if you leave them out in the snow uncovered that will lead to surface rust from moisture in the air, so try to put a cover over that goes beyond the body of your machine, once again great video rick, thanks for posting
We just bought a used Tig with 68k hoping to get another 100k out of it. Handles and drives very nice. Very roomy for the size. We turn off the auto start. It’s annoying!!! Not a fan of interference engines but I guess maintenance is key. Nothing is perfect
Hello you are complety out You need to ajust the cable first. Open the trottle for the slide come flush with the top of the body of the carbu for one cylinder, you pass your finger to be sure the slide is flysh keep the trottle at this place and pass your finger to the other carburator and adjust the cable for the slide is equal at the other. You need too lookes for the slide dont tap at the carbu cover, if yes loose equaly the cable like a half of turn. Your maner to ajust at idle is not applicable cause its depend how is the idle screw is a vacuum gauge is nessessairy to that
Thank you for commenting. It depends what you are trying to accomplish. If you adjust for full throttle first, you may not achieve proper idle because there is tension on the cables holding up the slide. I agree that a vacuum gauge is the most accurate.
Love this and will be using this method soon. Tks for sharing
No fun working on overengineered stuff! And yes. Most of them are now. Even toyota!
Great job THANK YOU!!
No. Not all of them. Just over engineered ones
The driveshaft issue is a great tip, however the rest of the things you listed are hardly "major" issues. Brakes, sway bar bushings, battery draining are all minor issues or even just regular maintenance. Fuel economy is just a part of how the car operates. Not hating on the video, I'm actually fairly glad to hear you report those as the main issues you've had after I just bought a 2009 Forester XT, sounds like an extremely reliable vehicle to me!
Puchita😅😅
Yes, small
Does the front drive shaft just pull out of the engine coupler or is there a rubber boot ?
The driveshaft slips out of the yoke. Yes there are rubber boots that protect the splines and I recommend a good grease for those.
I have a similar 85’ YTM200N, I am the original owner, got it when I was 14, still runs and starts on a pull or two (came with no starter or battery). Mine is blue, chain drive, no reverse. My son loves to ride it on snow and ice. Amazingly indestructible machines. I need a headlight.
And to bad that peeps at utub don't share the advertising revenue with the video makers like oh say temu or Amazonians lol but anyhow another great video sir, see waited til it came now where's the udder vids 🤣🤣 yeah I "snow" don't have a cow man 🤣🤣🤣🤣 keep smiling great job once again
Ok for the rest out there in video land, go to a local thrift store and pick up a couple of mufkin tins so u don't end up in dog house with significant other lol
Did you splice the negative lead to that tan wire under the handlebars? So negative wire from the winch selanoid directly to that tan wire? Just trying to wire mine so it doesn’t get power all the time to winch without the key on.
For the winch solenoid, I used the accessory plug on the front rack. Mine is key power and I would assume all Big Bears are.
@@thehonestmechanic ahh I see. I'll check that out. there was some plug on the front bumper there so maybe I need to run the winch selenoid to that instead of directly to the battery. Thanks!
@fish8196 yes exactly. This will prevent use of the winch with the key off
2019 SE with 175,000 miles and no issues!
wow, love to hear this, as I'm almost about to buy a used 2022 SE. Have you done anything since you've had it as for cleaning up the carbon build-up on the back of the intake valves?
Great job Make sure you clean out the pit cock. Has a little bowl and screen.
it fires every other stroke it is a 4stroke. if it fired every stroke it would be a 2stroke. the mix is the way they designed it to be lubed.
Use a grease needle to grease the front u joint
I always buy the repair manual for all my vehicles. They use to be common at parts stores and dealerships now not so much. Mostly have to download them these days if available at all. Reading the manual and watching the repair video on RUclips helps me decide if I am in over my head lol. You have great trouble shooting skills and your explanations are perfect. 👍.
Smart move on the 3rd test, and also your right chain effect replacing parts from stater plate to battery, it never fails when the stater goes the regulator goes next, and other parts, and I also put bolts back in here n there when removing items so much easier to locate and eliminates second guessing what goes where, and other trick is I line up my parts left to right as they come then reverse it going back in right to left, makes things easier and faster lol, once again great video how about a montage of trip lol anyhow later gater
Been beating on my drums for an hour, they are not coming off.
Have you tried removing the rubber plug and backing off the adjuster?
@@thehonestmechanic Yes, wasn't aware there were two adjusters until I studied the parts catalog. I finally got them off. The splines on the CV axle were seized to the Drum/Hub assy. I smashed it with a hammer a few times, then used a 2 jaw puller, with two nuts installed reverse, and yanked them off. Still took about an hour of messing with each drum. Antiseize is our friend!!!
Nice I’ve got a hoard of trikes. A 1983 tri Moto 200k and blue 225dr a tri zinger and a bunch o Hondas. That thing is sweet
